I believed it worked with nothing installed but I installed USB Overdrive X and changed the settings for buttons 4 and 5 and changed them from backward and forward to button 4 and button 5 so I could use them in System Prefs.

I don't trust Razor mice on Macs. The one I had would constantly double click and double right click on one of my Macs.

I have a 1st ed. Razer copperhead from a few years ago. It does the double-click thing and I use it on my PC. I kinda abused mine, so methinks its just from all the domestic violence :)

Just got the Razer Orochi. Works fine without the drivers
had to use Steermouse to set up buttons 4 and 5. Unfortunately, I can't use buttons 6 and 7. I tried installing the drivers for windows using the parallels... unfortunately, i still can't set it up. But overall, its fine... looks very nice too...

Yeah I got mine today today. I like the feel of it. I was a little intimidated because I have been using the logitech MX revo, but I like the size for maneuverability. Works fine without the drivers. As of right now, I am having the same issue running the razer configuration software using XP through parallels. For some reason it will not recognize that my mouse is connected to my virtual pc. I am curious to really see how long the batteries last on this bad boy. My first impression was excitement, but then disappointment that I spent $80 on this when I have a perfectly good and awesome mouse already, but I am starting to see the value in it. After taking a really quick look at the configuration software (cant use it yet), the feel of the mouse, and customization, and the extra goodies (carrying case and wired connection), I believe that this is worth the $80. The Kabuto pad is also very nice. I bought it with the discount and am happy, but I think it is worth it if you have that extra little bit of money. The comfort, quiteness, and feel of it work well with the Orochi. Solid mouse and good pad.

Also, if anyone has any tips and setting up my mouse properly in XP so I can edit macros and whatnot, please post here.

i've emailed razer support. Hopefully they could come up with the drivers for mac:) The orochi with kabuto is really a good combination:)

Works fine = you can't use 4 out of 7 buttons? Doesn't sound like working fine...

had to use Steermouse to set up buttons 4 and 5. Unfortunately, I can't use buttons 6 and 7.

:(

Can anyone try with USB OVERDRIVE if is it possible to bind buttons 6 and 7?

Works fine without the drivers.

Again, "works fine"=cannot use side buttons?

I am curious to really see how long the batteries last on this bad boy.

Me too, I hope the claim of 1-3months is real.

My first impression was excitement, but then disappointment that I spent $80 on this when I have a perfectly good and awesome mouse already,

Don't forget you're saving a USB port....

, I believe that this is worth the $80.

I believe too. Expecially when I think about my overpriced Logitech v470.

The Kabuto pad is also very nice.

I don't know....it looks like it will sh*t your keyboard/screen up with dirt if you use it in "sandwich mode" as suggested by Razer.....

The comfort, quiteness, and feel of it work well with the Orochi.

Has anyone tried the Orochi with the Razer Goliathus Control pad?

i've emailed razer support. Hopefully they could come up with the drivers for mac:)

It would be fantastic....I got a Razer Deathadder Mac Edition and the drivers and configuration center are simply FANTASTIC! It would be a dream if they make it for every Razer mouse....but especially the Orochi....it is the long awaited bluetooth mouse for the mac users, Razer people would be CRAZY not to jump on this boat....they can create the perfect companion for every macbook pro (thanks apple for making a sh*tty mouse and let us beg a third party company to create a good mouse)......I can see it, like the Orochi but with WHITE LEDs (kinda the Deathadder Mac Edition) and dedicated OSX driver and configuration center.....please Razer please....you're making specific stuff for a bunch of MMO nerds, please think about us millions of mac users.....
:D

Razer orochi Drivers for mac are now available:)

I got my Razer Orochi in the mail yesterday, and I must say, it's awesome, and worth every freakin penny!

Also get SteerMouse and you can completely configure it!

Great! Do those drivers include a Configuration Center? (I'm far from my mac right now and I don't have the Orochi). Can you configure every button? (includind the small ones on the left button supposed for the DPI regulation)

A Deathadder-Mac-Edition-style Configuration Center would be fantastic...complete tuning and full access to every button.....

Well you see i was using the logitech g9x mouse on my mac and is not working well at all !!!!

so i happen to see the razer orochi and i was interested in it but it reminds me of g9x =[ becasue they dont have the mac driver for it and i didn see the mac driver for razer orochi mac driver now that they released the driver i think i will order the orochi online NOW =] and give my g9x away ! (mind you is only 2 weeks old !)

will keep you updated when the mouse come ^^

Just installed the driver, it's nothing special, just allows you to change polling rate, sensitivity, the lights, no buttons or anything.

Sorry guys, Steermouse is still way better.

Agreed. The driver is nothing too special, nothing like the configurator for windows. The buttons are not customizable through this application. In response to the poster's comments in regards to the lack of customization, I have parallels running on my mac and was able to successfully customize the whole mouse and create new Macros for it. Once close, since the information is stored on the mouse's "synapse" board, once windows closed, all of the information saved successfully and operated fine. I think that they for sure need to come out with a configurator for Mac and I would think that since they came out with the drivers this quick for mac, that they should have it in the near future. There are some things that you can still customize without parallels like dedicating a button to activate Expose mode.

As for the Kabuto pad, I have been using a Rocketfish aluminum pad with a "speed" side and a "control" side (I believe it is similar to the pad you mentioned). I use it with my Logitech MX revolution. I tried mixing and matching by using the MX revo with the kabuto and Orochi with the rockefish. I very much dislike using the Orochi without the kabuto and MX revo without the Rocketfish. The rocketfish is large and great for a palm grip mouse so it can glide quickly. The kabuto makes the Orochi really glide and with the combination of the claw grip, the adjustable and high DPI, the Orochi is perfect for the kabuto despite the pad being smaller than most pads.

Sorry for the long post.

BTW, after using a large palm grip mouse for over a year, the Orochi's small size was very intimidating looking and uncomfortable for the first day, but I have found a comfortable claw grip with the mouse and find that there is (obv) a ton of added maneuverability that makes this thing awesome to use. Highly recommended mouse.

So I can easily configurate the whole mouse (including configuring ALL the buttons) by simply using Windows under VMware Fusion or Bootcamp?

If it is so, there is no problem....as long as then everything works under OSX and the buttons are recognized perfectly....

problem encountered

after installing the mac driver for the orochi, the buttons did not respond anymore:( :( :( The Cursor is still moving but all the buttons are not responding. i've tried everything to make it work, even use it on a different laptop with windows xp. Still, the buttons are not working. Did anyone encountered the same problem? Im still waiting for razer support to guide me with this problem.

OR you can just pay the $10 and install SteerMouse, I'm not sure what everyone's objection to it is, but it's great!

A user in the previous posts said that Steermouse doesn't give you access to 2 of the 7 buttons ("unfortunely I can't use buttons 6 and 7).
So I asked if "USB Overdrive" gives better results.

ps: nice SSDs ;)

As far as the issues with the buttons not working after installing the mac drivers, I have had absolutely no issues with it so far. Everything seems to be working as it should be for now. As far as programming buttons in windows, you can certainly do that (it's what I did) and it has worked without any hitches. The buttons have the same assignments, macros and all, even after I installed the mac driver. I tried using steermouse with the Orochi because initially I was having issues using the configurator in windows. Steermouse did not allow me all of the customization that I was hoping for and it even disabled the multitouch functions on my MBP. I very quickly uninstalled it. I highly recommend this mouse. Granted, as a mac user, you will have to jump through a few more hoops than normal to get it configured, I find it to be one of the best mice I have ever used and it just so happens to be bluetooth. Even if you don't have windows on your mac or no access immediately to a windows PC, when you do get access (i.e. - from a friend), you can configure the mouse to do whatever you want and create custom macros. then save them onto the mouses memory and it will follow no matter what comp or OS. You need to do this in wired mode too btw.

Try a fresh install maybe? I also don't have any other programs working with it right now like steermouse. Are you using such a program?
