don't make accusations you can't back up. I'm moving on.

Because he is trying to be controversial in his approachiMessage is equally terrible, so why not RCS?
It is an Apple problem. Would you not like to receive high quality pictures from people who don't use iMessage? Also, iMessages deprecates to SMS when iMessage fails, I would rather it deprecate to RCS before SMS honestly if they would prioritize messaging that way on iOS 18.This discussion is going in circles. What would you rather have Apple implement? Isn't this more of an Android problem and Apple simply trying to increase compatibility with them?
you're locked in to using a carrier for RCS. why is everyone so confused about the statement?there's no "carrier lock in". You only need a phone number(or a Sim card)
nope. it's literally more confusing.
because that button could be disabled for more than one reason.
- a group chat that added an RCS person that doesn't support video chat
- you traveled to a different country and use a different carrier
- you could be in a different country but also use the same carrier, but that carrier opted to disable video chat for roaming
a video button being disabled for a green bubble SMS person on iMessage is just... basically one reason: they don't have iMessage.
This is also true of telegram. You need a carrier number to sign up.you're locked in to using a carrier for RCS. why is everyone so confused about the statement?
you're locked into using a carrier. the moment you stop paying a carrier, you cannot use RCS.
a SIM card is using a carrier.
You also can't make a phone call or send SMS messages if you cancel your cell service, what is the point?you're locked in to using a carrier for RCS. why is everyone so confused about the statement?

a SIM card is using a carrier.
and need a carrier to use RCS.where is the lock in other than I need a phone
Ok? That isn't a big deal everyone has one.and need a carrier to use RCS.
sounds like a connection issue which exists with RCS. how is that less confusing? That's less confusing than the alternative. I try to FaceTime someone that's abroad and you know what happens? It rings, and rings and rings until it fails to connect.
Did you also turn of SMS and phone calls?I don’t want it on my phone. That’s the problem.
Idk why rcs and lagdroid fans seem to have issue with the fact many of us don’t want this near our phones. But hopefully this stops the whining and keeps iMessage on iPhone.
Mine will be turned off.
“No let’s all use WhatsApp. No wait, let’s all use Snapchat.”So, let's all use Signal!
Users don't need to learn anything and didn't apple already state what features it will support?more unknowns that a user needs to learn per carrier that they signed up for. not all carriers supporting RCS universal profile support the same exact features which leads to a disconnect on what features are available when you talk to XYZ person.
Just reading through the thread . . .This is obvious. My point is that our day-to-day communications should not be reliant on these paid carriers
We should be locked into something that is free, cross platform, simple, and reliable/secure like Telegram. iMessage doesn't circle all of that but is way better than being locked into carriers for day to day communication.
I never said it wasn't.This is also true of telegram.
who said SMS is the solution? I didn't.You also can't make a phone call or send SMS messages if you cancel your cell service, what is the point?
until you don'tOk? That isn't a big deal everyone has one.
you mean users need to learn what RCS features Apple is going to support?Users don't need to learn anything and didn't apple already state what features it will support?
Plenty of people = one small child 🤣Plenty of ppl. My friends son has an iPhone that has no actual phone number or service attached.
Or just get an esim for a carrier that is in Japan.until you don't
example: traveling to a new country like Japan using a shared mobile hotspot router.
Because I have no need for it and I don’t want it on my phone. But what's the difference if you, self admittedly, don't talk to Android users? I genuinely do not understand the logic here.
I don't use SMS either, but I'm not looking for a switch to turn it off or cursing Tim for giving us RCS.
nope.you're upset
Plenty of people = one small child 🤣
