More kudos for a great FAQ. I do have one concern that someone might be able to answer concerning the estimated delivery dates. I normally don't order anything unless I know I'm going to be home (i.e., in town) for delivery. However, because of the long lead times of theWatch, the uncertainty of delivery dates and the fact that delivery will most likely be in summer, what can I do if I'm on vacation when I finally get notification of preparing for shipment and/or shipment? We have a motorhome and are go on one/two week trips several times during the summer. I can't stay home all summer waiting on Apple to let me know they are shipping my watch. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do if I receive that notification and know I won't be in town (and no one at home to receive it)? Thanks.

The guy showing me the Apple Watch today at the Apple Store (my second appointment, this time to show my girlfriend) told me that the Apple Watch Sport ONLY fits/accepts the sport band which is wrong as I know because I was allowed to combine Sport 38mm and Milanese Loop band (great combo) and it works perfectly. ALL 38mm bands will fit ALL three Watches and the same for 42mm. The Apple Store staff know LESS than the people reading these articles/boards in general.
Ps. The modern buckle leather might be expensive and from Italy but it's thin, stiff and looks and feels like the faux/printed plastic leather on really cheap watches. All the other bands are delicious.
I was told the same. The reasoning is because many bands are interchanged or "clicked in" with SS attachments, except the Sport, which is aluminum (I believe).
The Stainless bars will eventually bend or eat away at the Aluminum casing on the Sport, which is why they are advising against it.
Sure - it can be done - but I wouldn't want to risk the eventual damage.
Is there any availability for walk-in Apple store purchase in the US?
Stainless Steel "eats" anodised aluminium now?
With no warning or notes about cross compatibility on the product page for the Milanese Loop and the fact that the SS comes with the sport band containing aluminium which it supposedly eats I'm gonna call BS and put it down to more misinformation from Apple Store staff who know less than Jon Snow.
Gasp! I'm an idiot... I see. When they say there's 3 pieces.... there are literally only 3 pieces in the box. ONE piece w/ the pin inside and then two varied length pieces to complete your band.
This cleared it up for me:
