iPad 2 owner and still on the fence about upgrading....and whereas I know the screen is much better and will look fantastic on the new iPad, these overly zoomed in "real examples" make me laugh...heck, Techcruch zoomed in so much you can see the pixels in the new screen, of course, you're going to see them on the iPad 2....however, in "real" use, nobody's going to be seeing any pixels on either screen...let the down voting begin....

Well I agree with this in part. I do think the new screen looks fantastic. This will be my first iPad so I have no basis for comparison. However my wife is getting an iPad 2 so then I can. But if my experience was only looking at the 2 with no comparison, would it really look horrible?

This is almost the exact difference between a 3GS's screen and a iPhone 4. When the 4 came out I said the same thing, "my screen is fine... I've never had a problem with pixels".

So I issue this warning to you... don't look at one. Because after I saw an iPhone with retina display looking at my old screen was like rubbing razor blades on my eyes.

*Waiting for my first iPad to ship.

I guess I'm nobody, because I can see pixels on my iPad 2 at normal usage distances. Don't get me wrong, its a nice screen. Just like the iPhone 3gs had a nice screen....until I saw an iPhone 4 in action. Then it looked like garbage. This screen is going to be incredible for reading text on the iPad.

I guess this is my point. When I had my 3Gs I never thought about how the screen looked until I got the 4s. Only then did I realize how much better the display was.

That screen is just stupid. I can't wait to get mine. The screen on my old iPad 2 was the only reason I never could get into reading on it and retina display was the only thing I ever felt missing from it. Now I will most likely make the move to reading on the iPad. It's going to be incredible for reading technical PDFs.

With no comparison, no it doesn't look horrible....with a practical comparison, we shall see shortly...

I agree going from the 3GS to the 4 was a huge improvement...it was like going from SD to HD...I just wonder if the difference this time, given the screen size and normal viewing distant, will be as great...maybe more like going from 720p to 1080p...sure, for some that's a noticeable and needed improvement, but for many, they simply can't tell the difference under most circumstances...

Don't get me wrong...I am not hating on the new iPad or those planning on buying it straight away...trust me, I will probably upgrade at some point down the road...I just think these overly zoomed comparisons unjustly made the iPad 2 screen look like crap....which it isn't...

I've been sitting on the fence too, as I'm perfectly happy with the iPad2, but having seen these images I'm sure that when I see it in the flesh I'll be sold! :apple: :)
