Well I read it and facepalmed..."reversible dock" listed as one of your BIG Hardware improvement? LOL
Compose a message, then add an attachment. Tell me when it's done. PDF as an example.
It is stretched from the 3:2 aspect ratio. The amount of usable space is diminished by stretching it in only one dimension.
Correct, except for the fact that I didn't belittle your opinion or act like it was invalid.
If you're one of the people that was wishing all along for a tall iPhone, that's great.
I'm guessing, though, that you would praise no matter what came out as the right way to go.
Hundreds of millions?? That might be a bit of an exaggeration. The numbers I've seen as of August are 85 million total iPhones sold...so figure about half are still in circulation and of those several are repeat buyers.
And you have to ask yourself if you really think the iPhone wouldn't have sold just as many if it had a 4.3 inch screen from the beginning. I bet it would have. I don't think it's that people have a preference for a 3.5 inch screen...it's just that has been the only option.
You might have been thinking of Android, which has sold around 250 million units to date. Most of those have larger screens...those people must be crazy!
I highly doubt the iPhone 5 will break records personally.
Do you guys think the A6 is really twice as fast? I mean doesn't it contradict Moore's law this day in age? I mean companies like Intel, AMD, and Texas Instruments have faced the limitation barrier of current gen processors and struggle to improve performance year in and year out. Is it likely that Apple out of no-where can out manufacture these tried and tested companies? I mean they went from A5/A5x to A6 in a year and claim 2x the performance over the A5 in processing capability? (A5X is on par with A5 on this metric, but has better graphical performance) I guess we won't know till someone tears down the phone and puts it through the performance mill....
It's definitely one of those subtle improvements that people glance over on paper, but I think a lot of people will love the reversibility aspect daily.
Display Improvements
4" Screen I'm perfectly happy with 3.5"
In-cell touch What?
44% greater color saturation I'm happy with the current screen colour, as are most people.
Full sRGB support Not sure what this is?
Higher brightness Current brightness is fine.
Less glare Glare doesn't affect me and I doubt it affects others.
Performance Improvements
2x CPU iPhone 4 is fast enough
2x GPU Current graphics processor is good enough IMO
Better battery life I doubt it, let's see what happens in real life.
Enclosure Improvements
20% Lighter Who cares?
18% Thinner As above.
Increased durability How exactly?
Wireless Improvements
LTE Good improvement but not worth £529
DC-HSDPA Unsure what this is.
Dual band 802.11n As above.
Camera/Video Improvements
Sapphire Crystal (more durable) Don't understand this.
40% faster capture speed Current camera is fine.
Better low-light performance How much better?
Improved noise-reduction
720p HD Facetime camera Current camera is fine.
Improved video stabilization Hmmm.
Still photos while recording video Pointless feature.
A6 post processing of photos Won't change much.
Audio Improvements
Better Earphones Nothing to do with iPhone 5 itself.
Three microphones What does this improve?
5 magnet speakers Unsure what this improves?
2-way noice cancelling earpiece As above.
Wideband/HD Audio HD audio? How does that work?
Connectivity Improvements
80% smaller dock connector Nothing wrong with the current dock.
Reversible dock connector What does this improve?
*********************************************************
All the above really shows me is that a lot of the new features are very minimal and hardly improve anything of any real significance. The only feature I actually think is a good improvement is the LTE.
The iPhone 5 is obviously the "best iPhone ever". But is it really worth the money for a lot of people? Certainly not for me.
I'm sticking with my iPhone 4 and until something really game changing comes out I'll be very happy with what I've got.

I've never tried putting the dock connector in the wrong way in my life so a reversible connector isn't really an improvement in my eyes.
Half of those "improvements" are really clutching at straws actually.
"In-cell touch" ? My iPad is incredibly smooth... touch screen responsiveness is NOT one of my complaints.
"Sapphire Crystal (more durable)" I don't use the camera lens cover to hammer nails in and don't make a habit of dropping my phone. It could be made out of plastic for all I care.
The main benefits of in-cell touch are a thinner display and increased clarity. Nothing to do with responsiveness.
Similarly, the advantage of the sapphire crystal lens is scratch resistance, not breakage protection.
So in-cell touch makes the display thinner, which in turns makes the device thinner. If that's the main advantage then it's not a separate advantage to being thinner.
Except overall thinness was not one of the improvements listed. A thinner screen and a thinner enclosure are two separate improvements.
I'm not sure what you are trying to get at here. It's a list of hardware improvements. Whether or not you appreciate them doesn't change the fact that they exist. And whether there are 25 or 30 doesn't really change the point.
I'm asking if these so called "improvements" are actually "improvements" ? An improvement surely has to make something better... why is a thinner screen better? Is that going to improve anyone's experience with the device?
Plus, a reversible connector is not an improvement for people who put a one sided connector in the correct way all the time. I'm not an idiot, there's a little diagram on the connector which shows which way the connector should be plugged in.
The term "improvement" is used very loosely in this thread.
You seem to be simply nitpicking. Thinner and lighter have obvious advantages in a mobile device.
And, again, the claim that you don't have problems with the old connector doesn't change the fact that it's an improvement. I'm sure you can imagine a situation where someone might attempt to put in the connector in the dark. Or design an accessory where the iPhone could be docked either way.
I'm criticising minor details that somebody has brought up as improvements. A thinner screen is not an improvement for the consumer. I guarantee nobody would even know whether the screen was thinner or not. Apple talks about its' "precise engineering" to wow people. They're good at selling, and people fell for the hype hook, line and sinker.
Can't think of a single reversible accessory off the top of my head. Look, I'm not saying that a reversible dock connector is a bad thing, it's just not something I would even think twice about when comparing features between devices.
