I still cringe when I have to take my dongle out to connect my headset to my iPhone 7 plus when the announcement in the plane says "please put all your device in flight mode" and pray that my battery will last me 8+ hrs; as I cannot charge and listen without spending some extra money on another dongle solution.

... why, why Apple?

Does it not take 4-6 months when new OS and hardware drop together? Thinking back to 2003 and 10.3 along with first Power Mac G5

How much time did Apple have to spend on iOS 10 with these and A10 etc?

Maybe wild but why I wait. And iOS always best, as was OS X - with the end of cycle, before new OS.

Maybe the regular 7 is better. I only have a 7 Plus.

It opens apps plenty fast and it's a fast phone, but it seems to have weird inconsistencies with the graphics performance.

iOS just hasn't been fluid since iOS 6. I just thought it would be different when running on the latest hardware.

Also, ever since iOS 10.2, I get stuttering when launching mail or safari. The animation hitches a bit while opening and then hitches again when closing. Messages is smooth as silk and so is all other apps.

You seem to find these issues often. Maybe you should stop buying iPhones if a dropped frame is worth the time it takes to type up that wall of text in your original post?

I'm not sure where this love for iOS 6 comes from. It was plagued with battery issues for me and my family members and even a handful of my friends. Sometimes a restore and setup as new would fix it and other times it wouldn't. I hate the look of old iOS as well, so there's that.

I'm not having any of these issues, and gauging from the replies, most other folks aren't either. I really don't think it's the phone or the software.

I don't want android. I just never had a new iPhone that comes with frame drops or lag. Usually iOS is optimized best for the newest hardware, but it seems to be the other way around. Why does app switcher stutter on this beast? Why do I see frame drops sometimes on opening or closing apps, but sometimes it's fine. Why do open gl games still stutter and they're not even very demanding?

I hate to say it, but open gl performance has sucked since 9.2. Prior to 9.2, I had perfect performance in the same games.

I have a 7 Plus with none of the issues you mentioned. And I would rather be on iOS 10 than iOS 6. Not even a fair comparison.

If you look for problems you will find them.

Weird... because all of my past iPhones have run great when they were just released.

By the way, here's the lag I'm getting opening Mail and Safari:

Those 2 pauses make it look choppy on my iPhone. No other app does this. Just Mail and Safari do it and it only started happening in iOS 10.2.

Both my 5s and my wife's 5s had respring issues out of the box. It was fixed after a few software updates.

Anyway, my point is that no hardware or software is perfect and if you're looking for issues, you're eventually going to find something.

I don't use Mail but I don't have any stutters or pauses in Safari.

Don't tell Alex that. Joking aside. Nothing is perfect. The iPhone isn't perfect, but always improving.

I'm pretty sure I have...didn't do any good though.

My 7 Plus has NEVER looked like that opening mail or anything else. I've never seen that on any iPhone I've ever owned, nor anyone else's iPhone. Therefore, I have no idea what the fix could be. Sorry, that's just strange.

Try it a few times. 10.1 didn't do that.

I don't get that same lag on my 7+. I restored from a backup when I got the phone, fwiw. My mail screen opens right up.
