...........until I changed the wallpaper? Explain that one?

I guess it's only when *I* change the wallpaper on an iPhone... somehow *I* break it and nobody else's iPhone would do that.

Not sure if you have done this yet as I don't recall seeing it but can you provide a link to the wallpaper that causes you issues? I'd like to see how it impacts mine and see if it's the same as you report. I use wallpapers from my 6S Plus days and don't see any issues.

The reason for this thread is because I bought the newest Apple iPhone because I thought it would be BETTER than last year's iPhone and on paper, it is, but in reality, it underperforms in my tests. Apple is usually known for optimizing the latest OS on their newest iPhone first and older iPhones are sort of an afterthought, but this time it seems like even their latest iPhone can't handle their latest OS without hiccups.

THAT is my issue.

I'm not going to move to a different phone manufacturer because I know that I'll hate it even more. I just want to feel like I bought the fastest iPhone available and it doesn't seem like it from my perspective. In many ways, I think the 6s Plus is faster.
Why make your life so difficult, just selling off your iPhone 7 Plus and buy 6s Plus. Problem solved. :)

That's not really how that works.

Life is always very hard for some people :D

Me too. It's a software bug. This thread should be closed now. I've tried everything. It's not my phone, it's the OS

Dude I totally get what u are saying. I have a brand new iPhone 7 32 gb and running the latest beta, bus since beta 3, the phone is really laggy. Scrolling is laggy in almost every app, closing folders is super stutter(especially if you have your folder placed in the first row).

I have restored with ispw to 10.2 stable, then updated to the latest beta via OTA, also flashed the latest beta ispw, and started fresh every time. Still the same problems.
I'm thinking of downgrading to a 6s because I old 6s(which I gave to my gf) is super smooth. I really don't know wtf is apple doing with their software. Maybe the 2 low power cores are to blame..but still apple..get ur **** together !!

I have an iPhone 7 128GB model and I have the same issues. It's actually infuriating how poorly iOS 10 is made for the iPhone 7. Scrolling through any app, whether it's messages, photos, safari, Reddit or twitter causes the phone to stutter. Sometimes it will freeze for a quarter second or more multiple times in a row. I'm thinking it comes down to the two weak cores. They must be constantly be activating and deactivating. Even the settings app lags when I scroll through that!

I have restored from a backup, did a fresh iOS install, etc. There is no fix from what I have seen. The wallpaper thing did not work for me. The 6s was much smoother and had almost no stutters. If I wasn't invested in the Apple ecosystem I would be using a Pixel at the moment.

This is plausible with the big.LITTLE setup when compared to the 6s. Particularly when combined with the scaling the Plus models do, it could explain why you'd experience stutter at times.

I've done some more testing. It seems that when filming the issue, the other big cores step in and deliver a good experience, smooth as it should be. As soon as I stop recording it goes back to the 2 little cores and the lagfest reappears.

The only way to illustrate the problem is to have someone else film in 60 fps. I will try to deliver.
Will come back with further details
As an edit to my previous post(#188) with the Power saving toggle, the phone is back to it's old habits once more..it was just a temporary fix.

Okay, that's weird. I just switched to a different wallpaper and the issue was gone. Interestingly enough, the wallpaper I switched to was one of the animated ones.

Then I tried another wallpaper (one that I downloaded) and it was still stutter-free.

Then I set it back to the wallpaper that I had, and the stuttering is back.

Here's the wallpaper that makes it stutter

I wonder what's so special about this particular wallpaper? I've been using it since I got my iPhone 7 Plus and it wasn't an issue until 10.2 came out. Anyone care to try it out?

In 10.3, all of my app stutter when using this wallpaper! However, if I use a simple gradient, it's fine.

I tried this, and while it's an improvement, my app closing animations are still glitchy. I don't normally worry about it since I always have Reduce Motion on, but I thought I'd check it for you.

I think that whoever created this treed is full of it , maybe you got faulty devices ( doubt that) or you are just full of **** ( pardon my French ) I mean iPhone 7 Plus just flyes all over , the animation ( I'm on latest beta 10.3) are insanely fast ,no lagging whatsoever on anything . Even on 10.2 or 10.2.1 everything was more than fine . I have no idea wtf are you talking about. I have 6s and sPlus and this thing is flying circles around both. And I'm not an apple fan boy , I love my wife's pixel and my nexus but I'm telling you iPhone 7 Plus is a king when it comes to performance. Maybe you are really that unlucky and got faulty device, go exchange , but please don't tell me how iPhone 7 Plus sucks lol, that's just ******** !!!

Okay, well I've had 2 different iPhone 7 Plusses and the wallpaper bug is even worse on 10.3 as it happens to every app instead of just safari and mail.

It also happens on the 7 Plus that I used at Best Buy. Maybe you got a secret overclocked model.

By the way, using a dynamic wallpaper makes it smooth as well.
