I have no more issues with Safari or Mail anymore. I changed my wallpaper to something more simple and they open perfectly now.
Thats not right.. How does a wallpaper effect a device as powerful as the 7? Something is up with the software.
I can put any wallpaper on my 6S and it will be the same.

Yeah, funny thing is, it only started happening from 10.2 and onward. It also doesn't matter which wallpaper I use on my iPad mini 4. However, my iPhone 7 Plus seems to be picky about which wallpaper I use. I even tried saving the wallpaper as a different size or format and it behaves the same exact way. It has to do with the colors/complexity of the pixels in the wallpaper.

Also, if you turn on Reduce Transparency, it's smooth no matter which wallpaper you use, so it must be a transparency/blur-effect bug.

Funny thing is, it doesn't seem to happen on any other app... just Mail and Safari (doesn't matter which page their on or where they are on the screen either.)

Transparency is a super expensive process. So that makes sense. It's a software bug. I would report this.

I was just at Best Buy ad I was playing with the iPhone 7 Plus and opening mail and safari was smooth (it was on the default wallpaper) but as soon as I changed the wallpaper, it stuttered just like mine does. 10.2

i'm pretty convinced there has to be some software issue somewhere still plaguing the 7 and 7+, since both my 6s phones have less animation lag than my 7 or my dads 7+

For a phone that is at least as powerful as the 6s, this shouldn't be something hardware related (unless the low powered cores in the A10 are really low powered)

I just use a picture I have taken recently, normally a sunrise or set. No issues, no lag or anything else.

You don't listen. I can't make you see the lag and since I don't have your picture, I can't say for sure that your image is a good one or a bad one.

LOL. I hope you find your "PERFECT" image.

I already have some images that work perfectly. It's obviously a bug and I've reported it.

Like I said, I can't MAKE you see it, but I know it happens for me and I know how to fix it. Maybe you don't believe me, but I see what I see and the same thing happened at Best Buy today.

By the way, I can only confirm it on the 7 Plus. If you have a 6s plus or regular 7, I don't know about those models.

Also, my iPad mini 4 does not have this problem.

This has been on my mind a lot lately and it just keeps getting worse.

I have the iPhone 7 Plus (128GB). This thing should be an absolute beast performance-wise. It's the newest addition to the iPhone family, it has the dual cameras, and 3GB of RAM to top it all off... However... I can't help but feel really disappointed in the performance of this thing. I still see stuttering in a lot of places in iOS 10.2.

1. App switcher stutters like crazy.
2. Opening and closing animations aren't consistent. Sometimes it stutters, sometimes it's fairly smooth.
3. Scrolling stutters in various areas
4. Rotating the home screen is glitchy at times. Sometimes the dock flickers and sometimes a few apps will become un-aligned with the rest and then suddenly jump into place after the animation is already finished.
5. Switching to another app from the app switcher stutters sometimes.
6. I probably don't have to say this, but pressing the home button makes me cringe every time I see that stupid laggy animation. If you've been under a rock... it's the effect where the app starts to zoom out slowly, then picks up speed, but the wallpaper didn't get the memo and lags behind after the animation should've been completed. It feels disconnected and just looks plain wrong. No other iOS devices have this dis-jointed app closing animation.

Why do I always feel like I bought the wrong iPhone? The iPhone 4 had antenna issues and they ended up even changing the way the signal bars looked in iOS because it made people think they had more signal when really it was just a different graph.

Then when I got the iPhone 6, there was bending concerns and iOS 8 was decent on it, but iOS 9 ran like absolute crap. iOS 10 ran a lot better on it, but it still felt smoother than my iPhone 7 Plus.

The camera in the iPhone 7 Plus is it's only redeeming factor... other than that, it doesn't seem much better than my old trusty iPhone 6 in terms of performance... actually, there are a lot of places where I feel that my iPhone 6 ran more smoothly.

I have to say... this is the first time I've ever purchased a brand new iPhone and felt the performance was lacking... especially running an OS that was basically made for it.

I feel like Apple has really spread themselves way too thin on how many devices have to run iOS now.

They've got iPad Air 1, 2, iPad mini 3, 4, iPhone 5, 5s, 6/+, 6s/+, SE, 7/+, iPad Pro models, iPod touch... there's just so many freaking devices now on iOS... it's crazy.

Anyone else underwhelmed by their iPhone 7? This supposed to be the best iPhone experience, but it feels worse than the 6s in many places (except for camera).

Wow. I just bought one too and have no issues whatsoever. Works great. No glitches at all. No freezes, no stutters. Never had to reset, nothing. I think your phone has other issues. I upgraded from a 6. My only issue so far is the need for a headphone adapter. Otherwise, it's a great phone.

Reading through these posts, I defintely think the OP's iPhone has various issues. I would just contact Apple and see if he could exchange for a warranty iPhone.

Yeah, it's just my phone.

...and the one at Best Buy

...and my previous iPhone 7 Plus that I exchanged because the camera was defective

...oh and how the Best Buy iPhone 7 Plus was fine until I changed the wallpaper? Explain that one?

I guess it's only when *I* change the wallpaper on an iPhone... somehow *I* break it and nobody else's iPhone would do that.

If it truly is me... then teach me how to change the wallpaper properly so that I can use any one I want and still have no lag. Teach me.

Teach you? How about teaching you some decorum first, which you lack an understanding of in this thread towards others apparently.

Anyways, I'm not here to prove anything to you, nor do I care too. But I can post freely my opinion and my thoughts at will without your snide attitude and bullyish behavior.

Your iPhone has a problem according to you. I don't believe mine does. Perhaps you should purchase an Android phone, which would fix your problem. I hope you find the perfect image. There, that's my opinion.

How does purchasing an Android phone fix my iPhone? I don't want any other phone. I want this phone, but I want it to be BETTER than Apple's previous model and currently it is not. Kinda sad in my opinion.

My phone is not defective, it's purely unoptimized software. You may not see the problem, but I'm sure yours does it too (provided that you have the same model iPhone as me).

I guess I'm being this way because people are basically saying that it's my fault, or that I have a faulty iPhone because theirs is perfect according to them. I'm the type of person that notices screen tearing and frame drops, but my wife doesn't have a clue about those things even if I point it out to her, she still doesn't get it.... does that mean that it's not doing the same exact thing for both of us?

Perhaps that's part of the problem. You see these various 'Issues' than what the typical iPhone user would observe on a daily basis. I like to think I'm fairly experienced with knowledge on the iPhone (Not an expert), and after reading through all seven pages in this thread and the many of threads I have participated in, it appears it's not a major issue, but; I'm not saying it's not an issue.

I think you said it yourself. Your wife can't decipher frame rate and screen tearing, but you do. Think about the millions of iPhone 7/Plus users who would not even notice the alledged issue your reporting, let alone fully understand it.

There are some fairly experienced forum members in here who simply can ignore the issue you're reporting and or it doesn't agitate them as it does you.

If there is no remedy for your concern, then perhaps you should either accept the fact how it is, or; if it bothers you to such an extreme, then consider a different device. Because after reading through all the listed solutions on here recommended from some experienced forum members, there is no specific answer. And technology and Apple are not perfect, which leads room for improvement, Being you already reported the issue. Time to move on.

The reason for this thread is because I bought the newest Apple iPhone because I thought it would be BETTER than last year's iPhone and on paper, it is, but in reality, it underperforms in my tests. Apple is usually known for optimizing the latest OS on their newest iPhone first and older iPhones are sort of an afterthought, but this time it seems like even their latest iPhone can't handle their latest OS without hiccups.

THAT is my issue.

I'm not going to move to a different phone manufacturer because I know that I'll hate it even more. I just want to feel like I bought the fastest iPhone available and it doesn't seem like it from my perspective. In many ways, I think the 6s Plus is faster.

And that's your opinion and your issue likely won't be resolved apparently. But I own the 6s Plus and 7 Plus. And by my standards, the 7 Plus is significantly faster than my 6s Plus. To each their own and clearly your experiences will vary from others.

I don't think it's his opinion when there are many other experiencing the same issues, including myself. Just go to this thread, and you will see. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7668617?start=0&tstart=0

I also tried two other phones at the Apple Store last week, and they all suffered the same animation lag issues. I'm happy that you're happy with your phone. But don't come here and say it's just an opinion or not an issue when there are many other complaining about it.

Please indicate where I stated it was not an issue? Then refer to post #170, as I clearly Never said it wasn't an issue and or experienced by everybody for the matter. I acknowledged it very well may be a technical issue. I believe it exists, but the question remains to what extent.

And my opinion can exist with my experiences and I can state that for the record If it hasn't affected my portrayal with my 7 Plus, as others have done so on here as well.

Didnt we already went through this issue many times.
Its a software bug.
Change your wallpaper to something that doesn't interfere or live with it till Apple corrects it with an ios update.
Not much anyone on a forum can do for you or any amount of complaining here will correct it.
