Sigh. Just because 90% of people don't notice wonky color splotches on their iPads does not mean that it isn't a problem for those who do notice them. It certainly would have been a problem for Steve Jobs, who complained about a slightly "off" red in a Google logo :-/

why do you assume %90 of people have it and dont notice it? thats absurd. I believe that there is issues with some peoples screens, but im looking at my ipad, with my 20/15 vision and it is just fine. just like my girlfriends, just like the rest of my Department who uses them for work. I wouldnt hesitate to exchange mine at all, they arent cheap. But to sit there and say that people who say theirs are fine, just dont see it, is plain ignorant.

there has been 3 million sold during the launch, and who knows how many the months since then. Its impractical to think the %90 of them sold have problems and People "just dont see it"

I'm saying this merely from personal experience. I had an iPad 3 that was very noticeably pink on the bottom half. I showed it to my roommate, who immediately said "Why does your screen look so pink?" His girlfriend, on the other hand, had no idea what we were talking about. Neither did my parents, and neither did any of my other friends. It seems that many people just don't notice or care about that kind of blotchiness? I really don't know, it's my only explanation.

I've seen the same problem in most of the units at Best Buy, the Apple Store, etc. Almost all of them have it, but it seems like the majority of people don't notice it or aren't bothered by it. And no, I'm not just OCD, because iPad 2 screens all look uniform white to me and I've never had a problem with Apple's screens before.

It's something to do with the new Samsung retina displays...each iPad 3 is different, with its own "special" yellow/pink/cyan mottled color scheme.
If you don't see the discolouration -- be happy! I'm happy for you that you get to enjoy your device worry-free. I think iPad 3 is an excellent product otherwise.

I do think most of the screens have some degree of non-uniformity. At some level, every screen in the world does. Most I've seen are above a threshold that is personally unacceptable to me.

This is very true. I guess I got more annoyed at ipad3 screen unevenness and quirks because we get so close to it and want to enjoy the high dpi.

The technology is being pushed beyond its ability to deliver higher quality screens. Maybe in 2 years it will be better. Still enjoying my ipad 1 but if it broke down I would get a 2 refurb. I can't justify paying the premium for a screen that does not deliver for me.

Mine is exactly like that, pink tint at the bottom, it is more obvious with white background like e-book.
