People... People.

Raise your hand if you have ever owned a "Mini" version of any Apple product. E.g. Mac Mini, iPod Mini, iPad Mini.

So... what was the problem with iPhone Mini again?

But, the iPhone is already small enough. Don't need to make it any smaller.

What's with everyone saying its small? The put an iPhone 4 and 5 right next to it for size comparison. Are you all a little soft in the head or something?

Oh wait. This is mac rumors. Y'all are posting and haven't even spent the couple minutes to actually watch the video. Right.

This seems very legit and I like the concept! It doesn't belittle the platform, but it is great for people that don't want to go all out luxury product...

For all those bashing it just for the sake of using plastic: Apple got famous for making great plastic designs. The first iMac, iBook, MacBook, harman kardon soundsticks, the new Pro. Hell even Airports are beautiful and simple designs, all plastic...

True, and whether we like it or not, it did NOT hold up well (unless you have it in a GOOD case, which is most likely plastic, btw)

For sure. My naked iPhone 4S has aged better than my naked iPhone 5.

I'm hoping the 5S dumps aluminum and goes with liquid metal for greater rigidity and wear resistance.

Not sure why people post if they don't watch the entire video.

Agreed but you have to know that (and I'm guessing) 99% of the people that ever post here only read the title's of the articles posted by MR and never read the whole article. It's pretty easy to detect that. :)

I agree. Right now 4" devices are the "minis" and anything bigger is the flagship.

Apple needs to keep the 4" long phone for the some, and give others the 4.7" - 5.5" with useable stylus for those that plan on replacing a phone, a mini tablet, and a laptop.

Samsung uses low-tier plastics; it's not likely that Apple would use low quality plastic.

Apple has used some crap plastic in the past. The Crack-books come to mind almost instantaneously. Then there was the iBook G3 and G4 keyboards that were flimsy as hell. OH, and the Powerbook G4 keyboards not too far behind those.

I'm sorry, aside from the negative impacts of plastics on the environment greatly increased through e-waste, it looks boring and less than stellar.

Did I miss an announcement or something? The guy in the video appears to be confirming that what he is holding is a genuine Apple product hot off the press. This could well not be the case. Aside from that, if this does turn out to be accurate to something Apple will release, it looks like it's a great product! I still don't think I could buy it over a 'premium' iPhone because there will obviously be corners cut in terms of power.

I really like the design- does the job and could result in a lower price. But what makes me sad is that Apple will almost certainly castrate it with lower specs and 16GB max. I wouldn't be happy with less then 32GB, and though I'm not bothered at the moment, an old processor will be painful by the end of a 2 year contract.

So, Apple, Give me this phone with the same innards as a 5S and 64GB, and I'll be happy!

There is one piece of news I have been contending for months that might actually dramatically juice Apple's stock price: a deal to offer the iPhone officially on China Mobile. I have also been contending for years that the real hold-up for the iPhone on China Mobile is that China is pushing an LTE version TD-LTE. Actually, to work on China Mobile, such a phone would have to have backwards compatibility with China's earlier TD-SCDMA.

The win-win for Apple and China would be for Apple to swap out the Qualcomm chipset for a Huawei chipset. That would help validate the Chinese solutions for LTE.

For political reasons Apple might not want to ship a phone with a Huawei chipset. Granted, the phone may be manufactured in and never leave China, but given that the US government has practically declared Huawei to be an agent for the Chinese government's spying activities, it is unlikely.

And overall manufacturing quality out the gate should be a million times better than the iPhone 5 launch.

No scuff gate stupidity for sure. The amount of attention to detail needed for defect free manufacturing of the iPhone 5 is not practical for a mass produced phone cell phone IMHO
Yep, "scuff gate" gone, welcome back crack gate ;)
