Your computer is more than 7 years old, dude. I mean, come on.

Time is not a good reason for it to be "obsolete" by Apple standards.

What exactly, spec-wise, is limiting a 2009 machine from running Sierra?

And I mean aside from what Apple says?

Is Sierra too graphic-intensive? How far of a jump is it from El Capitan?

I mean, seriously, I want to know where these limitations actually reside.

That's not true at all. There were a ton of laptops many of which were less then 7 years old, which couldn't run windows 10.
If you think Apple uses planned obsolescence by requiring your machine to be 8'years old or less then you should look up the definition.

Any windows laptop can run the latest Windows version. So why can't a mac laptop/desktop?

Artificially making products obsolete is Apple's new mantra.

I'd recommend using a Linux distro if you want to breathe fresh life into an old laptop/desktop.

I waited a day and I upgraded to macOS Sierra today and my MacBook Pro Retina is working pretty well. So far MacOS Sierra is snappy and pretty fun to use.

Some examples?

Just did the update on my 2009 macbook.

Works great, although disabled siri dont want it.

Zero problems so far, only been few hours though lol.

I was very happy with el cap and my imac cannot upgrade but hey it is 2007 so happy it even runs el cap!

Why can't they make it so an iPhone can unlock a Mac as well? What's so special about the watch?
The want to sell more watches? LOL

Not really. The watch is more secure. When it is removed from your wrist, it needs the PIN code re-entered for the unlock code to work. Whereas with the iphone, if you get mugged they'll want your watch and your laptop. Then they can also access your data.

Your laptop is more than 7 years old... Buy a 7 year old PC with only those mods and let us know how it handles Windows 10.
Not really necessary when the new hard drive and ram, this "old machine" works perfectly well, so why can't an OS work... ahhh designed obsolescence.

The major issue there is my wife got the new Mac this time. I got the new iPad. The 'old' 7 year machine is flawless... why do I need a new machine? To waste money? I run 10-12 Windows, MLB.tv, an auto dialer and Apple Music at the same time with no bog down, there're not a single reason this 'old' machine can't hold it own.

He feels entitled. One of those entitled generation people
Just an ignorant statement.
