I heard that early on the replacement phones are ones that failed QC initially and had to go back and be redone.

Ramio, how fast was the battery draining? Just curious cause I feel like my 128GB + is draining faster than the 16GB + I had. I mean, I've only had it for like 4 1/2 days but just seems like it drains faster.

I don't understand why people say they don't have refurbished phones yet. It's been plenty of time and most likely hundreds, if not thousands of returns. They have more than enough refurbished

...so you're familiar with try refurbishing process then? Could you tell us about where it's done, how it's done, and what the average turn-around time is? Could you please explain further since you seem to have insider knowledge? I'd love to hear about it.

Nowhere did I say that I had an inside knowledge, but it seems that you do if you are so defensive all of a sudden. I, unlike some other diehard Apple hardboys (not pointing any fingers), have what many of us call "common sense" and basic understanding of business. If you think Apple is all of a sudden giving away free brand new phones while being a public company, I have a bridge to sell you. Companies get refurbished phones within a week if not less. There are millions of iPhones in the wild, they are not giving away free brand new replacements.

I'm sorry, but "defensive?" You just seemed to be making claims that would necessitate insider knowledge, as they contradict what has been stated by former Apple employees before, so I would simply hoping that you could enlighten us. I guess that isn't the case. :(

If you think that Apple doesn't anticipate millions of newly-manufactured phones having some lemons, defects etc. by having replacements on hand, then I'd have to question your common sense. Besides, I'm not in the market for a bridge. Thanks though, I'm sure yours is wonderful; best of luck with it.:)

It was lasting about 6 hours with constant use. Let them run a test just to doublecheck.

It shows as NGAU2LL/A. AT&T space gray 64 GB.

Just checked again and my model number is the same as yours. Mine is a 64gb AT&T space grey plus.

Wow really? I thought they gave AT&T and T-Mobile iPhones different model numbers? My replacement does not appear to be unlocked since I put in an AT&T SIM and it doesn't work. And mine is the regular 6 whereas I think yours is a 6 Plus?

Maybe apple is just using NG4W2LL/A as a generic model number for replacement phones? Oh well as long as the phone works I guess :)

My bad man. Just checked the number again and it's NGAU2LL/A. Was too tired yesterday :)

This is completely unrelated, but I just wanted to inform you that your post number is exactly 20000000.

Alright, carry on then.

Really? How do you know that?

You can see it either in the url or when you quote someone.

It IS funny that some people actually believe it takes Apple months (sometimes years) to refurbish phones...

They have PLENTY of stock especially thanks to the OCD crowd ("my screen is too yellow", "my screen is too blue", "my screen clicks", "the lettering on the back is off .01 degrees", "when I drop it it breaks" etc...) , normal manufacturing defects, and people sitting on ther phones. They send back cosmetic issue pieces first, but they also send back tested malfunctional pieces (with a tech report of the issue) for FoxConn to fix too.

Apple refurbs in a special facility at FoxConn where they can replace parts as needed. Usually it's just a new shell and battery though.

The turnaround time is a week or two once it arrives.

Then FoxConn ships hundreds (probably thousands) of white box devices back to the states/world and they get distributed to Apple stores (and presumably around the world) as needed.

Now you know the process the next time you get a white box from a genius.

(I do have limited "insider information" as a colleague represents an Apple store manager)

Hello everyone.

I am having a problem with 2 dead pixels and 1 white spec under the screen at my iPhone 6 plus i bought the phone at 23/12/2014 and i didn't noticed in the first place. my iPhone came with the iOS 8.0.2. I did go and make a research and i found that my phone was one of the first series that apple released.

I want to go at an apple premium reseller because in my country Apple hasn't any apple store.

So they premium reseller is sending back the phones probably to an apple store somewhere.

So here is my concern. The new replacement phone will be a refurbished one or a new sealed one? Also if it is a refurbished one it will be at the same quality as my original one? Also the refurbished one will be checked for dead or hot pixels or any other problems? They won't have scratches or dents or the screens isn't fitted well or anything else?

It's my very first time that i am going through this and i am very sorry that my 1000 euro device has those issues...

Thank you very much for your time!

P.S. i am sorry for the very big post.

Mine has issue aswell but I'm from Mexico no Apple store here I going to give Applecare a call next day and see what can Apple solution will be to get this phone replaced.

I see. So i have also made a phone call at the Premium Apple Reseller here in Greece and they told me that, the new iPhone 6 Plus that i will received will be a refurbished one. And they told me also that each refurbished are been checked by apple and also before they will give me the new phone the Premium Apple Reseller themselfs will also check the phone for dead or hot pixels or if they have any dents or scratches. Anyway they told that the phone will not have any difference with an original sealed one from the stores. And also the refurbished phone will continue to have the guarantee of the original one that i bought from the store.

So what do you believe people i should do? Should i go and change my phone with the 2 dead pixels and 1 spec of dust under the screen issues, with a refurbished model?

If someone has a refurbished apple iPhone did he/she found any differences?

Thank you.

Technically, apple replacements are not refurbished models. Refurbished means that someone previous owned the device and they fixed whatever was wrong. They're just new models meant to be replacements from factory, hence no accessories and the white box. Maybe later on with time they could be remanufactured models, which means any consumable part is destroyed and the phone gets new ones, plus a new housing and battery. Or its new, either or its never been owned, it has a new serial number and you can't tell the difference.

So if i will send my phone for replacment the new phone that i wil be recieved it will be a brand new one but without accessories. That's cool.

Also here are the 2 dead pixels on my device.

I don't know how i can show you people the dust. with turn on screen i can't see those white specs. Only with closed screen.

I am so sad that i payed so many euros for this iphone and to have those issues.

So if i send 5th of January my phone for replacment the new phone that i will recieve it will be a brand new phone and not a refurbished one?

someone posted their info from that chipmunk site and it showed factory C3 and the words 'possibly refurbished'. someone else mentioned there was a dedicated factory used for all refurbs, or whatever you want to call the replacement phones. wonder if maybe C3 is used for this purpose, and/or if that chipmunk site has a way of knowing if something is not technically new. just got my replacement and that site says it's a week 45 device from november from factory F1.

when it comes to this particular question, it doesn't seem like anyone really has a definitive answer. just lots of speculation about what you're getting with these white box devices. either they're new, or they're previously used with new case and battery, or they're basically new but with components that were melted down from older devices, and everything in between.

Back in October, there was a good chance it was brand new from factory. In January, most likely remanufactured with a brand new screen, outer shell and battery.

You can't tell the difference anyway so what difference does it make? If you're anal retentive, get over it.

I had my 6 plus replaced last week thru the Express Replacement program. I also got it in a little white box with just the phone in it. It is a new phone and not a refurb.

The only defect on the 6 plus I had was a tiny bubble on the aluminum back which was a QC issue.

well as i see and my phone is with in Quality Check issues i hope and mine would be a new phone and not refurbished. Well at least not to have dead pixels or dust under the screen... because that is inexcusable for me.

The Geeks at my local Aplle store said with out hesitation that there are refurbs in some of the little boxes and it has been that way for near 30 days.

Hearing about all the complaints about Apple's QC, I would think these refurbs have has a closer look and could be even better.

I gotta believe at this point of the life cycle of the phone, apple has sufficient stock to hand out refurbs instead of new phones.
