If the photo is legit and it isn't photoshopped, I'd return it; resale value will take a hit if you ever decided to sell or trade.

Update: I had the phone replaced today at my local Apple Store. They were also baffled by the lettering missing. Strange that slipped through QC! The apple logo looks funky as the plastic wrap was still on. And the lettering was actually missing. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to photoshop.

It's clear that you don't. That's why the attention grabbing attempt "proof" was done in some cheap and nasty editing app. That pic is about as real as a three dollar bill, just like your story.

Yep. I use a few photo editing apps to touch up blemishes etc and if I "overdo" it it looks just like this. Way over smudged.

Don't believe me, I don't really care. I know I'm telling the truth and that's all that matters to me. Anyway issue solved! Mods please close thread as I just see more comments like this to come!

Its getting really funny all the experts on here who claim fake or photoshopped. This is the second thread in the last few days that has been getting the same response. The last poster had some serious chipping in the aluminium.

It seems some just don't believe that things can go wrong with Apple QA.

Of course nothing is wrong with apple QC. Apple is perfect. Did you not know?

The phones are put through a robotic eye that measures and examines them. Its not possible to obtain a phone like the one you claim to have.

That's how people have had kinds of physical defects over the years?

Photoshopped or it looks like to was dropped in some sorts of solvent or acid and it discolored the paint and erased the ink.

As noted by my post history, I have no problem affirming Apple's horrible quality control. But in my opinion, something is up with that photo. The reflections even seem distorted in that area and the "smudging" appears in the foreground as if not on the phone itself.

Sure it is. I have an iPhone 6 where the wording on the back is not straight across. It's crooked. So yeah, QC misses things. So much for that robotic eye huh? :)

If you want a pic, ask.
