There is no upgraded shipping if its coming from China like all the others are... They basically all ship the fastest possible route each step of the way, from China --> Alaska / Memphis --> Your house. They aren't using ground shipping for anything unless you live right near Alaska or Memphis (and for the actual delivery to your house).

I also asked the sales rep about where they ship from, he said some from china and some from wharehouses spread out all over the country. So if shipping is upgradable on some orders then those orders must be coming from within the states.

It looks to me that there's a lot of people with 3G models that are having to wait the longest. I ordered my 64GB wifi/3G model at exactly 1am(4amEST) and it hasn't gone anywhere. It hasn't even shipped yet. The lady at Apple told me that it is probably not updating properly because of what's going on in Japan because it is shipping from overseas... Who knows... that gives me a little hope. She did, however, send me a free set of earbuds with the mic... call in and see if they'll do that for you. It doesn't get you an iPad... but it gets you an extra set of earbuds. :D

Apple is feeding you a line of complete horsesh*t. How can what happened in Japan possibly affect the updating of the shipping status.

Apple has completely screwed this whole thing up and now they're trying to put spin on it.

Apple has completely taken what should have been a fun experience (at least it was when I got my first iPad shipped and delivered ON LAUNCH DAY) and completely ruined it for me. The gross incompetance amazes me that people that bought LATER than others are already receiving theirs while others are just stuck with absolutely no activity whatsover.

I'm really, really excited my cover will be here even before these morons can figure out how to ship an ipad.

How have they screwed up? They are still within the 3-5 day shipping window...

Order Date: Mar 11, 2011 at 12:52 AM PDT
IPAD WI-FI 3G 32GB BLACK-USA
Not yet shipped

I feel like an expectant father pacing the waiting room. "Hey Doc, any news yet?"

"All is well son. Junior's just in no hurry to enter the world. Be patient, he'll be here soon."

At least this gives me time to scare up some cigars to pass around when the momentous event finally comes to pass!

"Is it a boy or a girl?"

"Neither, it's a 32GB black iPad. Its father is AT&T and its mother is Apple." I hope he looks more like the mother.

LOL. Hey, I think we're related. Same story exactly here only mine was conceived a couple minutes before yours.

Actually I think you are wrong depending on your local FedEx. I agree that they will get it to my island the quickest way possible but where I live they use the estimated delivery date to prioritize. My smart cover arrived on island yesterday but they put a note on my details saying they are not delivering it yet because the extimated date is two days off. I AM getting it today, it just changed to On the truck again. SO, for me, if I can get a shorter estimate I may see it earlier.

Here is a new question. If it is listed as At the local FedEx, will they give it to you if you drive there?

I agree. Mine is almost certainly going to be here a day ortwo before apple estimated it would be here. iPad 1's delivered on day one because they took preorders. Not apples to apples at all.

By unfair shipping. I have counted 41 people in this forum that ordered AFTER I did (and many, many others). All of them have either gone into "Prepared for Shipment" or have shipped.

What's the point of opening the ordering if you're not going to be fair about it and use first-in, first-out?

Mines the same way, have you tried calling FedEx for a status update?

I'm in the same boat, except mine said "HELD AT SORT FACILITY" first, then switched to "RELEASED FOR DELIVERY" about an hour later. Hopefully ours will catch the next plane out of alaska.

Got my smart cover. Hopefully my iPad comes either tomorrow or Thursday. Still says it's in Anchorage right now though.

Unfortunately, first in first out is what companies say but it's total bs. Think about it.

Are they going to have mega pallets of iPads and sort them to fill orders first in first out. This would mean sorting the items putting them into boxes. You might actually get your product later if they did this.

By taking a large quantity of 1 make, printing the labels and just sending them down the line would be faster right?

You live in Hawaii right? It must be different there I guess  Yeah they give it to you if you drive there, you just show them your I.D. -- there is actually a button that says "Hold at FedEx" on the tracking page that gives you the option to have them keep it and pick it up.

Seems like you need to take a break from the forums... obsessively comparing your order to everyone else is just going to drive you nuts. Apple still has time to make good on your order, even if it doesn't match the FIFO policy they stated. If you don't see any progress by the 5th business day, then it's reasonable to bring it up to Apple. Try to relax, it'll get to you!

Yes, we missed the flight last night. Some one called and confirmed, forgot which page it was here.

Mine is still sitting in alaska :(...But its on 10:42 in the morning there so Ill let them get up and have breakfast then move my iPads along

This is where my black iPad 2, 32 GP is. I ordered mine at 1:02 AM with a Green Smart Cover, which arrived about 2 hours ago. I live in Philadelphia, PA.

So what are we considering "business days"? If I ordered at 1:00 am PST on March 11 can I consider Friday a full business day? My Ipad 2 cover shipped on Saturday the 12th so was that a business day? If so, then today is the 4th business day and my status is not even showing Prepared for Shipment.

I ordered at 7:10 on March 11!
Nothing has passed since that moment!
:)
Anybody else ordered around 7???

Everyone who's package cleared at Alaska yesterday, but remained there over night will arrive tomorrow most definitely. I know this from prior experience with Apple. Would've came today, but customs had a lot of these to approve. It will take which ever plane today and will be in your state over night.:apple:
