Just checked my account and PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT. I placed my order as soon as it went live. My smart cover shipped yesterday. I'll be relatively pleased if they arrive a few days apart. My original delivery estimate on my order was March 18-25. I am not complaining out of respect for others here who have an extended wait time which I think sucks, but that's my update.
Or wifi only are currently on production lines, with 3g to start back up later who knows.
I doubt they run all versions on the line at the same time.
I can imagine your frustration. I know this is of no or little consolation, but I doubt if Apple "doesn't care", just not able to remedy the situation outside of you placing another order. I'm sure they want to sell as many iPads as possible. That's how they stay in business
When I said Apple doesn't care. I meant the 3 people from Apple that I dealt with. I wasn't referring to Apple executives and board members. The reason I said they don't care is because they told me no one can help you, and that you should just place the order again.
My black 16gb wi-fi just confirmed shipping via FedEx, China of course. Looks like us early birds did end up with first shipments.
Mine was ordered at 12:48 AM PST, same model, and it's still stuck on Prepared for Shipment (Since last night). how does this even work?

Apple employees represent Apple, therefore IMO Apple doesn't care about your situation. If Apple did care, its employees would care too.
so, I called Apple 3x's (for different answers) and us who engraved will not be seeing "prepared to ship" for awhile. He said engraved iPads will take longer and one person said they come from Japan. He said no matter how early you purchased, if it's engraved your behind people who ordered after you because they have no confirmation on when engraved iPads will ship.

Right. I dont understand how this works either. I have been at prepared for shipment for almost 12 hours now and i placed my order at 12:43 PT so you would think i would be towards the front of the que. I just hope the same thing happens to me when i post this.
What do you expect them to do? There probably wasnt anything they could do for you, just man up and reorder and quit acting like you are entitled.
Only my Black Leather Smart Cover is prepared for shipment. My 64GB Black 3G ATT iPad 2 is still not shipped. I ordered at 3:08 CST.
Entitled to what? A notification email that your order has been cancelled for the 2nd year in a row? Yeah, because I didn't get that either. Your post is not helpful. Not that it's any of your business, but when Apple's system cancels my order like this it keeps me from earning the 2800 airline miles that I was trying to earn. I'm not able to call Continental and tell them Apple's order system is flawed, can you please give me my 4 times points. My 32 GB, black, WiFi went from 'Prepared For Shipment' to 'Shipped' in about 4 hours. I ordered at 4:13 am Eastern yesterday.

I think you're right and it's frustrating
I ordered the 16GB WIFI 3G ATT at 2:44am PST and it "has not yet entered the shipping process." The WIFI ones appear to. I wanted 3G for places where either there is no WIFI (doctor's offices) or they're all private or for places where the public WIFI networks are slow (airports). Also for the GPS feature. They can't be short of GPS chips. It's very frustrating (or I'm frustrated).
Did the stores have an adequate supply of the 3G models?
