for anyone that placed early orders and noticed that the credit card hold has been released::::

I spoke with 3 different customer service reps to confirm this just now - the authorization is still on record on Apple's side - the "release" is just what happens sometimes right before it si charged.

This means that it is being prepared to shipment and you should see an update soon.

So! hopefully mine will be shipped out today *fingers crossed*

Also, if you complain, they will add overnight shipping to appease you. But, let it be known, as said earlier in the thread, there IS NO overnight shipping.. so they are really just doing it to boost customer ratings. (which isn't really as malicious as it would seem)

Because CS reps are LYING saying they can't give the free covers- Some in the other shipping thread just said they paid for his TWO LEATHER smartcovers AND gave him expedited 2-3 day shipping! It can be done and those reps who cay they "can't do anything" are LIARS.

My Sister's is OFD (FedEx) and she's in Carlsbad. She ordered @ 1:04am PST a Black 64GB 3G (AT&T). I ordered the same iPad (@ 12:56am PST) and am in Charlotte, NC still stuck in NYS status.

I'm anxiously waiting for it but in all honesty I knew when I ordered that it was shipping in 3 - 5 business days (which isn't even up yet) I was just really hoping that Apple was managing expectations----meaning I'd get it by Wednesday. I'm still hopeful I'll get it Friday or Monday at the latest. In the meantime I do have iPad 1.

My theory is they either got really slammed or something else is up, in any event we won't know until Apple releases sales figures. I wonder if they're waiting until they get the first wave of online orders shipped?????

So the people who get paid to give information are liars, and random posters on a forum are the dead truth givers?

I'm confused? Where are those black Helicopters :eek:

Thanks it's just really frustrating that so many people have received theirs that ordered way after me, but it seems to be a problem with the AT&T 64GB wifi units. I got my smart pad cover yesterday though
 
Mine finally shipped...how long has yours taken so far?

I just recieved my shipment notification email this morning. The Fedex tracking is showing estimated delivery on the 22nd, which is 6 days out. My Smartcover will arrive tomorrow after 4 days.

Any thoughts on what to expect? how long will it sit in Hong Kong, how long in Anchorage and then where to from there?

Normally, I'd just accept FedEx's estimate, but it seems a little off.

Yes they are liars because they are lying. I got the upgraded shipping and posted a screenshot as have countless other who have also posted screenshots of free smartcovers. There's no defending the BS these CS reps are spewing with this one. Try again.

Apple states a 3/23 delivery while FedEx states a 3/22. It's the first time that Apple is quoting a later time than FedEx. Usually it's the other way

I think this is the first posting of an ATT model ordered from Apple that has moved to shipped.

Mine is still sitting at prepared to ship 2 1/2 days later.

Good to see some movement for someone.

Order placed shortly before the store was supposed to open, 12:58AM PST. I ordered two black 64GB AT&T models. Original shipping estimate was 3-5 business days with a delivery estimate of March 18-26th. The order was prepared for delivery by Sunday afternoon, which is clearly far earlier than promised. Once shipped delivery was estimated for March 18th, the earliest estimated date, but it's out for delivery today two days earlier.

I know it's frustrating to wait but most of the time I've found Apple's estimates to be conservative. Sadly, there can be minor issues anywhere in the process that delay delivery. Fed-Ex drivers around here are somehow able to find my house with packages sent by everyone except Apple; I'm half expecting to see a delivery exception forcing me to go pick it up by hand. Like my original iPad.
 
A whole bunch of 64gb wifi black models must have just come off the line - mine is prepped for shipment now, and I've seen a few others have switched today. Hope it ships out tonight so I can get it monday!
 
I can't figure it out - I'm in the same position. It's irritating. I'm trying to find out when the flights are out of ANC today, but I'm not having much luck. I want to know the schedules for any MEM or INDY flights today. I'm scheduled for tomorrow delivery before 4:30, and it'll make that if it gets out of AK this afternoon.

Here you can see one says "Held at Sort Facility" and the other says "In Transit." It's kind of confusing.

Yep, same thing. I called apple. They said that its still on time for delivery tomorrow and if I'm worried to call FedEx.

I live in MA, so I hope it makes it out soon. My girlfriend ordered two at the same time (4:00AM on the 11th) and hers are in Memphis and Newark for delivery the 18th (a day later). So why are her's closer then mine if mine is being delivered a day before hers?

I never said that. You can repost my posts with the picture here if you'd like. I said those pictured in the photo are LIKELY resellers shipping them back to China. That's my opinion, along with any others. The fact that every person in that line was Asian says something. And I am a man. Thanks, though. I have helped MANY here get faster shipping and free smartcovers for the INCONVENIENCE. If that bothers you, too bad.

The "contract" when we early risers purchased online was "ships in 3-5 business days". FIFO was never stipulated, only assumed by some. Why would you be entitled to anything extra when those terms have not been violated?

I got a free smart cover from them and posted a pic of it being prepared for shipment, he made sure it was the fastest shipping he could give me as well as shipping from the US. I told him I found it frustrating that Apple and FedEx wouldn't let me update my shipping/Apple and FedEx giving different shipping information/Order being delayed. Then I told him 5 friends of mine who ordered around the same time as me, got a free smart cover expedited to them. He then asked which color I wanted and was really helpful.

If you really want one just call CS and if they don't help hang up and call back and hit "0" to get a new rep and try again...

My iPad has been on the truck since 8am est and Apple said it would deliver by today but FedEx still says tomorrow, I'm hoping its today especially since I'm 5 miles from the local hub.

What makes you think it wasn't hyperbole. Has Alpqua been spouting hate speech in the forums?
