Did you happen to see if their tracking site is delayed or down? I haven't seen any movement since it arrived from Memphis last night.

Look folks, if they were really doing that, it would be on FedEx, not Apple. Once Apple hands off to FedEx, they are paying shipping and FedEx is responsible for getting it to its destination. And there would be a separate shipping to and from the holding facility. And oh yeah, FedEx is telling you that the earthquake has affected their operations, a natural disaster where thousands have lost lives. You know what they owe you? Nothing.

I agree that Apple didn't handle this launch as well as they should, however, just because you ordered online and have to wait while others bought their product from a different source and already have it doesn't mean you get to be pissed off. When you ordered, it said it would be delivered in a large window: March 18-25th right? Unless your iPad is not in your hands on the 25th, stop whining. They didn't break any promises. They haven't met part of the shipping deadline, but theres nothing to prove it wont get to you in time yet.

Let's not make this out to be the worst thing thats ever happened to us okay?

I don't mean to be harsh, but you are being a bit naive. I am not whining and acknowledge they are meeting their stated deadlines. Its not the end of the world for sure. However, I expected better from Apple. My IPAD has been in Taiwan for 36 hours now. I hope it is a missing scan, but Yahoo is usually pretty good about it. That is not shipping, that is warehousing.

If you think once Apple hands it off to FED EX it is out of their hands you are seriously misinformed. It's called logistics. I guarantee there are dozens of Apple and Fed Ex employees planning this out and dealing with it as it unfolds. They dumped them in a warehouse in Taiwan, so they can say they shipped them, plain and simple. Have you ever seen Fed Ex hold a package in transit for 48+ hours? Customs doesn't apply in Taiwan so no excuse there. My smartcover got to me from China in less time than my IPAD has spent in Taiwan. There are no security issues with these or customs really, they fly right thru, they are bulk packed IPADs from Apple, not some drug smuggling efforts. If I thought for one minute that my IPAD spending 36+ hours in Taiwan was helping the people of Japan I'd be happy for it to sit there for as long as it took. These are shipments OUT of the region not into it. If anything, the faster planes got out, the quicker they could get back in to bring supplies and aid from the US.

One last thing. Why do you think they don't count the day of shipment and moved the order time to 1:00? That 1 hour bought them a whole additional day to still be "on time." Just sayin'

Well their tracking site is no where near as up-to-date as the yahoo one is. From the way it sounded, they are dealing with a lot of updates and people right now. They actually have their own "apple fedex" department which I did not know. So it seems they are giving just the important information on their site; ie: when it lands somewhere significant to the tracking like when it landed in US soil. She told me that since TN, the packages are on its way to its local sorting facility, but did not specify whether or not it has actually left yet. I do believe it is leaving my truck or train though. I was hoping it'd be on a flight.
 
Not much going on with mine. Been stuck on Lantau island for about 24 hours now.

Not to worry, I am just trying to figure out if he is an Apple or Fed Ex employee posting on this board to defend some pretty lame, but, admittedly, perfectly legal and technically correct business practices. Those who have come to expect a little more from Apple are whiners.

First off, the day you order does not count in the 5 days. Regardless of what others have posted here, whether it was before business opening etc.... Mar 11 is not one of the business days you count among the 5. Call customer care if you doubt what I'm saying.

Second, even if it was the 6th day, are you serious? Worst experience???
So much drama over such a small thing.

FedEx maybe overwhelmed in that part of the world due to the quake and if they're using extra planes to fly life saving supplies to the quake victims, the ipad delay is trivial if they're going to save a single life.

I ordered my 32GB White Wifi at 3:11 AM PDT, right as the shipping times changed from 3-5 days to 5-7, and mine is still sitting in "Not Yet Shipped" status too :(

No I called Fed-Ex to ask them and the guy said he thinks it's still being held by customs and that I won't likely get it until Monday, but I'm a little annoyed because others whose iPads were on the same flight cleared and are being delivered today.

If you had read my post you would know that I did contact Apple and was told that Friday didn't count but I don't accept that as valid. It was one hour after midnight.

Yes. I'm serious. This is my worst experience with them. And I think that speaks to their usually stellar service. But I think broken promises and representatives spouting apologist rhetoric are serious blemishes to Apples character. At least in my eyes, and frankly that is all that matters to me.

And as for your last argument, please review what fallacious arguments are. That is an appeal to emotion and therefore not relevant. Besides, I am seeing on this very board where deliveries are still happening.
 
Mine is in town!!!!! I told them to hold it at our local fedex facility so I can pick it up instead of waiting. I ordered my black 64 wifi at 1:08am and I got it today.

Yours is probably going to be on the plane with my ipad2-less smart cover. :)

I will take the shipment of my smart cover as a good thing, however, and hope the ipad follows soon.

Mine is also on the same Flight, It seemed to miss the last flight out of AK last night, I had an 18th Delivery date, looks like Mon for me in Tampa, FL

Mine has not left Alaska yet. It's next destination is Indianapolis, but it hasn't been loaded on the plane yet. My commit date isn't until 3/22, but I assume it will be here Monday. Another weekend without the iPad...
 
I caved and requested mine be held at a local facility. Hopefully it gets there over the weekend and I can snag it Monday morning before I leave on my trip!
