So, mine was shipped Federal Express (as opposed to my cover which went Fed Ex Ground) and is due by 10:30AM on Monday morning - so I should stop worrying they won't be here on time? And I am guessing that means they will fly out of Memphis to PDX, and I believe that flight doesn't happen until like 1:00AM PDT, so it means I should get over it today and stop hitting the refresh button. Why is that so hard? I'm an adult, I should be able to stop obsessing...right???

It will be there. It took 3 days to get my cover from China to Alaska and less than a day to get from Alaska to my door in MA. Fed Ex is amazing when they want to be.

My white 6Gbt Ipad 2 - wireless - ordered 3/11/11 at 12:45am PST was shown hung up in ANK also since 3/17.
I called and they said it would make it to Florida and delivered 3/21/11 at 4:30pm instead of the promised 3/18 date. It still shows delivery 3/18 on FEDEX's website. Due to Apple's agreement with FEDEX they have to attempt to deliver it and then you can pick it up later at the center if you are not home.
Oh well--

This is kinda the fun part of this all is the build up to it...kinda like the week before vacation...but yes...If you look at the Apple site that is the last possible day it come without FedEx being late...but 10:30 is I believe priority package deadline and it cost more so I would say yeah it will be there then. I stopped working at FedEx in 2008 so some things might have changed.

Mine is still listed as being in Anchorage, where it has been since yesterday afternoon. It says it has been "In transit" since 6:28 PM local time. Not sure what that means, but I was not aware that Anchorage had much of a nightlife so any attempts by my iPads to go out on the town and get some "action" may prove futile

It's taking in, in person, all of the sights that it loved so much on Sarah Palin's Alaska. Just give it time, there's not much more to see.

Express flies eveything to Memphis sorts and flies everything to the right place...also when it says overnight it means it...there is no pushing it back...if they do not deliver ontime 8, 10:30 or 11, and 4:30 you can request your money back...ground is just that it is done by truck and the delivery date is just an really good guess but not guaranteed and it generally takes longer...that is why they have different trucks because there are different rules and different time requirements. also different costs.

I think I may have read somewhere that this has changed, but a few years ago I got a Fedex ground package that was delivered by a contractor. It was literally "Bob's Delivery Service" or something like that. No connection to express at all.

FedEx Ground is done by independent contractors that bid for routes. so during busy times the route owner may have hired someone to help relieve his route so he did not loose it...I have seen during Christmas ground guys can take 400-500 packages in one route...that is really busy. Also FedEx will rent other trucks to help...I worked for FedEx Office so I dont know all the rules but that is what I guess is what happened. Or FedEx has an agreement with Bob's to help...They do that too. Like they help USPS with regular mail and their overnight as well.

drivers are paid by the package and so the ground guy would not get paid for taking an express package...now I have seen them take them and drop it off at FedEx Office but they do not have to...I dont even think they go to the same place...FedEx Express is mainly done at the airports and ground is not.

I was hopeful for about 1/2 a second that I might see it Saturday... oh well. Tuesday it is I guess.

Yep that's pretty much how it works. I work for FedEx Ground. FedEx Express couriers are actual FedEx employees, not contractors. The two companies operate very differently.

My iPad is finally here! It took 5 days from China-Japan-Alaska-Oakland-Los Angeles.
The battery indicated 93% so on stand by for 5 days lost 7% of battery.
Its a white iPad 32 gigs wi-fi

Chek Lap Kok is still in Hong Kong and is just a different part of the airport.

ughhhh, my shipment finally picked up speed yesterday and is suppose to be delivered by 4:30 today...but as my luck has it, it's lost in Oakland and may not even show up until Monday. So much patience is required!
