So does this mean it would take 15 days to get here? Making March 25th the date? I'm in NJ and on fedex.com its says it should be here the 17th and apple says the 18th..

where on the apple site do you see an estimated delivery date? I'm looking all over my invoice on the site and see nothing.

smart cover

My Smart Cover hasn't updated since 4am this morning when I got the email. Does this mean that it is coming from HK since it says "International Economy Distribution"?

I really don't want to have an iPad without some sort of cover/case and this is starting to bother me

Not necessarily -- that was a report for the original iPad. But, if you notice, total delivery from the time it left Apple's hands was just over 48 hours. I'm guessing they are REALLY backed up at the plant and Lantau shipping area right now. This will likely ease after the first few batches go out -- if FedEx is saying the 17th/18th, that's probably a pretty safe bet.

In terms of efficiency, FedEx is doing pretty well. Apple, on the other hand, took nearly 2 days to "prepare for shipment." And I ordered as early as I could (3:42 EST -- the earliest I've seen in this forum is 3:38 EST). People who ordered significantly after the opening time will likely have greater delays.

In short, I'd trust FedEx's estimate as the latest you'll receive it... in some cases, I wouldn't be surprised in FedEx arrives a day earlier than their own estimates.

64GB White AT&T status changes

After a hundredth refresh of the order status today I was shocked to find these updates in my order!!!

For those of us who seem to have missed the most recent flight to Memphis, here is the next scheduled flight:

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX94/history/20110314/2350Z/PANC/KMEM

As you can see, it was anticipated to have left by about 15 minutes ago, but still no take-off. If we only are behind the other flight by an hour, that is certainly fine by me. Of course, we may not be going on this flight at all...but I'm trying to stay optimistic.

UPDATE: It took off at 4:19 PM.

a day early would be awesome!

Wow is everybody really obsessed. I've watched fedex tracking for years and most of the time they are pretty slow to update the history. I can promise though that they seldom let packages just sit around for any period of time. Even when it's not updating things are still moving. Thankfully they don't slow everything down scanning and updating minute by minute.

It's been a full day for me now with "prepared for shipment". Really annoyed to. My smart cover has been at Lewisberg PA since Friday afternoon no motion.

Thanks for the info, though I'm still optimistic that we made the first flight. I don't really see any reason why the first batch of iPads would have been separated in Anchorage.

Ugh.... stuck in limbo i suppose....

That's true. I get notifications about status changes the next day after I receive Fedex packages (!?!)

Ha! Yeah that's right. I once got an update from them the following week and it confused the heck out of me.

Agreed. Mines on the plane to Memphis that lands around 1:30 am EST if I read the flight tracking right.

It will definitely get to me in Atlanta by the Thursday delivery time, and I'd think it may come on Wednesday if it can make it from Memphis to the local Atlanta hub by Tuesday night so it gets on the truck for delivery Wednesday morning.

made the flight!

it looks like fedex is just a little slow to process the tracking updates, mine just updated to this:

2011-03-14 15:57:00 Released for delivery ANCHORAGE, AK
