And now, all together, let's take a deep breath and imagine the ********* if it was Apple using Samsung drawings.

National news, pundits shaking heads, shares down 25% and, eventually, Steve Jobs resuscitating to guide a hoard of zombies towards Cupertino.

Samsung won't be copying up to date Apple computers.

I wish they would copy up-to-date Apple computers. That would at least mean we have some up-to-date Apple computers to purchase. My Mac Pro is still current at almost 3 years old!

It's in there too.
It helps your case when you give the examiner as much background info as possible.

This particular patent filing is related to smart bands or bands that provide additional functionality and their various connection methods.
99% of the people commenting will not bother to actually go and read the claims of the patent. They'll feign outrage and make wild claims of copying.

Then why sketch something bloody identical to the Apple Watch. Identical.

You're talking about wristbands. A band that goes around your wrist.

If a patent office can't conceive of something like that without an exact replica, the system is more broken than I thought.

They even put the little circles on the back. That would take more effort to actually put in. At least make it a heartless slab of nothingness.

A new low for Samsung. Quick Apple! Time to patent the patents!
]It's used for reference purposes.
Just about every patent submitted lists prior patents and images to give the examiner a frame of reference.
Samsung is not making any claim to the design in the application.

Samsung does not even bother to hide the knocking off any more.

That's funny, and this time Samsung got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. But it's not a real product, just drawings, although attached to a patent filing so definitely serious. It's ironic that Samsung's watch, IMO, trounces the apple watch.

"...suggesting Samsung's product designers and engineers are drawing inspiration from Apple's wearable device." No duh? Samsung would be remiss to not study its competitors designs and possibly try to improve features, this is what Apples entire business is based on.

"Samsung has a long history of copying Apple designs and is often ridiculed for its tendencies to emulate Apple" Well I suppose it is a Mac fansite so no surprise there. I'm curious what happens at the supreme court level though. It seems like so much of this is based on opinions on aesthetics and there is so much that Apple can be said to have copied.

"Just today, more than 100 designers wrote an amicus brief supporting Apple in its ongoing battle with Samsung, describing how the visual design of a product has "powerful effects on the human mind and decision making processes." In contrast to the 7 amicus briefs Samsung filed with support from Google, facebook, ebay, Dell, etc. You know, tech companies not fashion companies, although aesthetics does play a large role in this.

And as expected, the masses who know nothing about the filing process are already offended for Apple.

Where's the popcorn when you need it?

yes but as a major company, they should use the "frame of reference" with their OWN product line.
For them to use OBVIOUS Apple products as reference shows that their product is not good enough.
Would you think the same way if Apple had filed a patent with images of a Samsung Galaxy phone/wearable?
Probably not...

OH! and the popcorn is right here.

What's the point?

So does that come up in some sort of "references" type of section in a patent filing or anything like that, or just randomly in the middle of it all where the design behind the idea is being shown/broken down?
