what case is that, is it a soft gel clear or hard?
it's the clear case from apple with magsafe, not really soft, semi-hard i guess you could say. Note, this case has no bottom protection where the port and speakers are.

ya i saw that. i just went into the store to check them out. I like the silicone, not sure how protective they are from drops tho?!

Can't see ever using one of those, the edges look like they go over the band seam and are already collecting pocket lint. You'd never be able to put most cases on the phone because of the closeness to the edge.

Maybe it’s the pictures... The edges don’t go over the band, they are about 0.5mm short and the lint isn’t as much of an issue as the pictures make it seem. I’ve tried about 6 different cases on (including the ringke on in the picture) and none of them have disrupted the protector.

Been through my fair share of ‘premium’ protectors on previous devices and this is, in my opinion, up there with the best for a fraction of the price.

Previously I have always used full screen protectors on all my iPhones including the XR. Whilst FaceID and the proximity sensor worked fine one downside was the small cutouts for the speaker grille and the front camera seemed to collect dust fairly quickly and were awkward to clean.
For my 12 Pro I ordered a 2 pack of the Spigen Tempered Glass protectors with the notch cutout. Ended up using both as I returned my first phone due to poor battery life and a warm screen. Used the alignment guide included with the protectors and both went on perfectly with no bubbles. The cutout does seem a bit odd to me atm as I'm used to the full screen ones but it should be easier to clean the speaker grille.

i have a ton of glare in the car, and i drive all day everyday. So does this really help with that?
Yes, the anti glare is amazing at stopping that mirror reflection from the glass screen.

If Belkin didn't make an anti-glare protector, I would go crazy as I drive around in my daily field work...

Spigen Glastr, best oleophobic coating I've found. While the cheapies get greasy after a month, the Spigens last for 6 months.

Do they have any full screen tho, not a notch cut out one. I am tired of the notch cut outs and I scratched my self cam this year..:(

Why would you want to block the notch ?
The notch has the front facing camera and ear speaker ...

If you really want to block it, order a Macbook or iPad glare filter and cut it to fit your entire phone...

You know what, this is exactly my thought process. Full screen looks so much better but I imagine the speaker grille will easily gather dust as well. Decisions decisions.

it doesn’t block anything. It protects FaceId and selfie Cam from getting scratched: which I just found out you can do! My selfie cam has a scratch right in front of it on the glass and now I can’t take any selfie pics. So ya that’s a huge reason!

here is what they look like, it’s just having another thin piece of glass on it. 649B4FA1-A13C-4E6C-B159-4DEDD1C8384B.jpeg

full screen protection is best. the ones with the notch cut out doesn't look right and won't protect that area. I can vouch there is no problem with face id or speaker with the full protector.

I hate to admit but due to time constraints the one Apple put on when I picked my pro up is perfect. It’s not glass which sucks but its flawless I can barely tell it’s there. Only downside it doesn’t cover the entire screen. Yeah $50 but worth the money for scratches if you’re OCD like me.
The Apple one costs $50, doesn’t cover the entire screen and isn’t even tempered glass??? Why not buy a quick to apply tempered glass one off Amazon for a fifth of the price?

Because many many people want a turnkey operation, can't put a protector on straight and without dust, and are willing to pay for that privilege. The ones pre iP12 are glass, I'd assume the iP12 ones are glass too.

There are so many options, like the ESR for $18, that have an instillation tray making it impossible to misalign it.

You don't really expect the average iPhone buyer to actually be shopping on Amazon for screen protectors and then installing them? They're at Apple, "do you want a screen protector?". Or they're at ATT, or VZW, or whatever.

I've never used a screen protector before but after all the stories about scratches I went for a protector from Spigen. Very easy to apply and looks/feels very good. Not expensive either.

Or get a decent one that doesn’t break like from Spigen. I broke a few of the very cheap ones but the Spigen ones hold up to a lot of abuse. They are also only £10 for 2.
I have had them all and seen people with them all, including spine. They all break and they all scratch. Its fine, thats what they are made to do. Don't put big money for stuff that is made in the same over seas factories with the same standards. Just make sure you have a good application tool or method.

If the Spigen one breaks, then it doesn’t break easily. I’ve dropped my iPhone off the top of a stepladder screen first and I didn’t manage to break the Spigen. The super cheap ones break from the slightest of knocks. I had the Spigen version on my iPhone 8+ for 2 years and had no cracks and perhaps 4 light scratches. I’d definitely recommend it to anybody reading this.

The latercase screen protector is suppose to be made of gorilla glass. Kind of pricey but maybe worth it.

That looked really good until I saw it's .45mm. Man, that is thick....

I have used Manto glass protectors for both my iPhone 8 and 11 pro, and I love the fact it's true edge to edge (including the black frame) because unlike the typical protectors, these you can't tell that they are on. I haven't tested it yet but I ordered one for the 12 and should arrive tomorrow.

These are the Manto screen protectors I linked earlier: I messed up on the application and got bubbles, luckily I got 2 extra ones to try again 😆. So far I really like them, there is sort of a bluish tint which looks a bit off at first (not really visible in the photos, it depends on the angle) but it doesn't bother me that much and supposedly these filter out harmful light wavelengths, so I guess that might be a good thing.

Notice the edges look black, which means it doesn't stand out as much as the regular ones, and for those using heftier cases (mine is ultra thin), it'd even less visible.
