I think the red iPhone will look nicebut it is not for me. I'll stick with my black one.

I think if you guys want to support AIDS or something like that, then you should do so via more direct means. "Product Red" is great at selling products for the 'sponsors', but poor at delivering.

Here's one article siting that "up to $100M was spent on advertisting", with (in 2006) $18M going to actually help anything.

While I'm sure your intentions are good, and since you're buying an iPod anyways, why not make it Red, but support charities with better throughput and transparency.

i submitted this to macrumore at like 9am japan time with a link from the washington post...

The washington post article was just a reprint from techcrunch, which sourced their article from this one. This is the original source.

Iphone problemmmmmmmm!!!! Its ruinedd!!!!!

Well! I have an iphone! I had it for about a year or two! But yesterday i tried to download new music on my iphone for my ipod! So i went to www.iphone.com and clicked on ipod+itunes and then downloaded the itunes hoping i'll get new music in my ipod! I had my iphone connected to my laptop! So everything went fine downloading the program into my laptop! So when it got downloaded into my laptop i typed in an artist to see what songs come up so i could put then in my iphone for my ipod! So as i was looking something came up and it was transfering something into my iphone so, i was like YEYYY!! It took forever to do what it was doing! But i waited!:) BUT then there came a picture showing a plug and a CD saying Itunes under it and i lost my service and i can only make emergency calls! So, i cant get into the menu or w/e! Theres one picture the plug and the CD!! Its stuck and i cant do anything!!!I tryed so many thing but nothing! For example, i tried taking out the SIM card and powering off the iphone but nothing happened! I even repeated that step few times! So, then i tried unpluging the iphone from the laptop and cancel the whole itune program that had been insulted and nothing!! I tried redownloading it again and nothing!! So, i gave up and just left it there for the night powered off hoping when i wake up today to see everything back to normal! BUT, i woke up and its still the same picture with no service! So, now i am getting frustrated because its not the cheapest phone and plus i had my work in there saved!! So, right now i just have it pluged in my laptop hoping a miracle will happen!! So, please if you know what to do or have an idea how to fix it please reply back!!! I don't know what to do and i really dont wonna go to a specialist to fix it and spend couple of hundered bucks unless i really have to! But i thought it would be better to write it all in here first and hopefullly i'll get a respnse back from someone who knows or has an idea or just think they know!!! Please REPLY BACK!!!! I'll try to be online for few hours to see if i get responses!!
-thank youuuuu!!!:D

Open iTunes with your iPhone still plugged in, in the left hand column click on "iPhone" (it will be under "devices"). After you click that, a page will come up saying something like "How do you want to setup this phone" click on "restore from backup".

That should do it ;) (I'm 99% sure iTunes just updated your iPhone to 2.0, same thing happened to my moms friend)

I can't believe they are still even doing this RED campaign. They have spent more money on advertising for this campaign than actual money they have brought in for their purpose. The colors are cool but other than that it's a failed program.

Looking at the casing for the iPhone as well as the iFixIt teardown I think
we'll discover it to be easily removable. Furthermore, the manufacturing of more colors is perfectly feasible, even by aftermarket.

fake Red

This red is a untypical apple red.
I think when it's going true, it is more like this:

I liked the mockups of the red iPhone right b4 wwdc, but I'm not sure how it would look in reality. Think about it, a red iPhone. I'll stick with black for now.

I've often wondered why they didn't just say "Keep the stuff that you have that works properly already and donate ALL the money you were going to spend to a worthy cause."

Skimming a tiny piece off of a piece of merchandise is ridiculous. Don't buy the new stuff, just donate. People shouldn't need to prove they donated or flash it to make themselves feel better. Do it. Or don't.

Yep, this was my favorite mock of the iPhone 3G. I still hope this is real and possibly the direction for the 3 Gen iPhone. I don't think Apple could pull off a shiny plastic product red. If they went with the matte finish, it would work.

That so does not look hot.

It's so obviously photoshopped, I am completely turned off by the idea D=That color red is awful.

EDIT: The one posted by saperlo is a little more like it. That's pretty nice, but I still don't know. With the front of the iPhone it will make a horrible black/red color scheme. =/

I love my iPhone 3G, but that was definitely my favorite of the fake mockups I saw prior to its announcement.

Plastic is the only way for the GPS to work and gives a better signal on the 3G. Have you not been reading the forums? :)

I've been reading the forums where everyone's pointing out how sh*tty the GPS and 3G reception is... so yeah, plastic not proving much with that to anybody compared to 1st gen now is it?

Re: (RED) iPhone

Looking at the iPhone Savior's Photo you can tell it was photoshoped from a picture of Colorware's iPhone backing. It would be awesome if Apple made a (RED) iPhone like a iPod nano or shuffle.

prob not as much as the U2 ipod

But i think it would look nice, going by the colorware site it looks pretty nice on a first gen iphone. We will have to wait and see. But i'm still waiting for 32 gb (dam you touch users :p)

If they do make red, I'm hoping for shiny back. Something like this...sorry for the bad image editing.
