Serious question: how do we know he's not lying when he says there's no drop of revenue ?

Be it him or anyone else actually
Well, he literally said “Starting last night, about a thousand subreddits have gone private” when already more than 8000 subs gone dark. So, yeah, obviously if they have had a drop in revenue, they wouldn’t make it public. I think this is called damage control in English.

I moderate a few subs on Reddit most notably for one of the major cell carriers and we have a group chat with the other cell carriers, Apple, and a few other tech-related subs and we are legit torn on this. We want to keep the subs closed because F this guy, but the amount of Mod mail we're getting every hour of people wanting in and needing help or has questions is legit tearing us apart.

Some people think Reddit mods are just trolls that sit in a corner, but some of them like myself love to help people, and seeing all the people messaging the mods needing questions answered or problems solved and not being able to get help is heartbreaking. We want to help but we also want to stand in solidarity with our other mods and the devs that have worked so hard over the years to create a better app. In the end, Spez knows we will have to open back up that's why hes being so smug about it, and just goes to show he doesn't care about the community 1 bit!
I now have severe cognitive dissonance because now I know at least one Mod is not a soulless monster.

Maybe Reddits CEO forgot about...

Friendster
Myspace
Digg
Vine
4square
ping
Google+

There were many sites before Reddit, there will many after as well.
I remember joining reddit after the collapse of Digg.com around 11 years ago (https://www.failory.com/cemetery/digg)... this is cyclical & Reddit is not going to last forever. Nothing lasts forever. Reddit had a good run, and now is the time to leave it.

This guy has proven over and over again he isn't fit to be CEO of a potentially billion dollar company. I don't know how any investors are looking at the way he's handling all of this and thinking to themselves, "yeah, that's a company I want to invest in and support, look at how well it's run!"
It seems everyone is reacting to decisions made by the CEO, but I can’t help but wonder… the why part of it. There’s discussion about how ChatGP and other AI application using Reddit API while profiting off it. And by offering such crazy expensive API access, they are terminating 3rd party app clients.

And who knows if it’s some AI investors behind the scenes offering Reddit billions to make unreallistic API access. Imagine being in the CEO position, take billions from these investors OR be reasonable about API pricing. I’m not saying he’s right, but for him to go down this path… there has to a lucrative deal in place.

Traditional xenforo based forum are much way better.

Reddit conversation style sometimes PITA to read on, onboarding for new user somewhat hostile, requiring to farming and grinding silly internet point called karma.

There's also discourse based forum, but discourse platform isn't my cup of tea.

If say r/Apple is being squatted on then can't Reddit simply delete the subreddit so other new mods can start over?

I don’t understand… 🤦🏻

How does the CEO of Reddit not realize how passionate his own user base is?

Because Redditors never stand up to anything. They're vocal but rarely take action. The fact the blackout is just two days long is proof of that, as two days is nothing and Reddit Corporate can just ride it out. Then all the subreddits will be back up, they'll get over the loss of Apollo, then go back to whatever they do in their echo chambers fishing for upvotes.

What forums can you recommend please ?

Like if for example i want to ask some specific questions about a monitor, I found nowhere to go but reddit

Yeah, that's cool but someone will start /r/apple2 and that'll become the default apple subreddit.

Reddit for better or worse is going nowhere because there's no alternative and nothing to stop someone starting a new subreddit with the same aim as the closed ones.

Google often sends me to reddit... but i'm rarely getting good results. Mostly a bunch of people bro-sciencing about every possible topic.

I still say offering an alternative to the licensing is to just require users to have Reddit Premium in order to use 3rd party apps. That way Reddit doesn't lose revenue from those apps blocking ads while not putting a burden on the 3rd party app owners themselves. Sure it passes the cost onto the users directly, but still seems more fair than the license model they are offering.
