I'll use this until Apple Maps catches up. I have a feeling that might take a while but as soon as Apple achieves some sort of parity it's bye bye Google.
Google Maps, NSA dream snooping tool.
The people who criticized Apple didn't have a clue. The DATA was the issue, not the app, which is something that gets fixed with time (and could never have been flawless on day one). The client app itself ran circles around anything Google has ever created. And to this day, I still feel it does, especially when it comes to performance. Actions simply run smoother and more responsively, and it seems to use less energy than other Maps apps.
Google has, what, billions of dollars and they can't afford a designer to make apps that don't look terribly ugly?
The version 2 has vastly improved the UI IMO.What's so ugly about it? The design is clean, well designed, easy to navigate, and to the point. There's nothing "ugly" about it. Any confusion you might have is likely due to you being used to doing certain things in a certain way in Apple Maps, and you're not able to segue directly over into Google without a bit of confusion.
...though I do kinda have to agree with the guy above me. Just like the phone rev on my iPhone 4, the tablet version is a little chunkity on my iPad 3. It's not unusable, but it could be a helluva lot better.
I wish I could zoom out with one hand.![]()
Just loaded up Apple Maps for the first time in ages - it still has multiple POIs in the wrong location near my previous address (SW London) despite reporting several of them when it was first released.
You're in an Apple forum. Why don't you go to the Xbox forum and complain people are loyal to their Xbox. Or the BMW forum and complain people are loyal to BMW. What do you expect? Go away.

Apple Maps still doesn't have its act together, but will reroute when you can't follow its directions. Google Maps has excellent data, but cannot reroute. BlackBerry Maps on my Q10 has great data and rerouting, but is brain dead when it comes to business names.
"... Even in the future, nothing works!"
You can zoom with just one finger! Double tap and swipe. ;-)
Yes, and Siri's voice is god awful. Rude and can't pronounce anything right. pfffft.
It's funny how much Google (or even users) criticized Apples maps at launch and put Google Maps on this pedestal, and now we see Google copying some elements from Apples Maps design. Mainly, the design for points of interest on the map tiles, as well as the live incident reports icons on the map. It's starting to look a whole lot more like Apples client app.
