Probably the web master doesn’t know any better. You can Google it to find out for yourself. So why are Apple quoting it then in their specs? (genuine question)
This is beautiful. But an Air it is not.
Not a huge fan of the dark blue mixed with a black keyboard. Black and dark blue always feel like they clash for me.
It has almost everything I wanted, but I really wanted colors! Also, drop the “Air”The Midnight color looks nice I guess. The old MacBook Air gold color was way nicer. I wish Apple had brought some more colorful options. Seems like a missed opportunity. I’m tired of the boring grayscale options.
someone needs to make a tiny little magsafe cover that you can keep over the port (thats flush) for those who will never use it. like me![]()
You wouldn't buy a Mac because of the name? Are you for real?I was looking for three things: M2, colors, and losing the “Air” from the name. I got one and a half of those. Really on the fence here.
He was right about the non-wedge design as well as the TB ports having 2 actually.Ah, so Prosser was wrong yet again.
I didn’t say I wouldn’t, only that I think they missed an opportunity. The redesign was the perfect time to drop the “Air”You wouldn't buy a Mac because of the name? Are you for real?
Did I miss something? It still says "Air" on Apple's website. You wouldn't buy a Mac because of the name? Are you for real?
I get that. The forum member I responded to alluded to the fact that he or she had reason to pause a possible purchase because because "Air" was still part of the name. Hence my question.Did I miss something? It still says "Air" on Apple's website.
Edit... I got it. He didn't want it called Air
That mac is absolutely gorgeous.
Personally, I’m waiting for latticed aluminum hemispheres on the Mac mini to match the Mac Pro, and some $400 wheels while they’re at it.Because historically the MacBook and the Air have been more general consumer focused, just like the iMac
It's not about naming similarity as much as target market
Get a can of Krylon clear coat and spray the whole Mac. In 10 minutes you are covered.I fully agree. Have a GPS look at the Twitter pics, that midnight colour is going to scratch very easily 😩
Would using a clear coat colour be a good idea near the Tb ports?!??
Yeah I got that... I was just confused for a second 🤦♂️I get that. The forum member I responded to alluded to the fact that he or she had reason to pause a possible purchase because because "Air" was still part of the name. Hence my question.
I thought about the 14" but, I don't need all the ports etc. I can get by with 256 SSD as that is what I have now but, I think I may get the 512 anyway just so I don't have to keep eyeballing my downloads folder seeing what I need to delete. lolYeah I got that... I was just confused for a second 🤦♂️
I think I need to see one in stores just to feel the difference between the 14" Pro and the new Air. It's about $300 less in the 16 GB RAM/ 1 TB SSD config.
Would someone please explain to me why anyone would buy the new Pro instead of the Air? The Pro seems inferior. Am I wrong?
Immediately after the WWDC 2022 keynote, Apple invited the media to a hands-on demo area for the new MacBook Air, which features an overhauled design with a slightly larger display, a notch, flatter edges, and new Starlight and Midnight color options.

CNET photographer James Martin shared photos of the new MacBook Air in Midnight on Twitter. Depending on the lighting, the color looks like a mix of navy blue and space gray. While some rumors suggested the new MacBook Air would feature a white keyboard, the keys are in fact black, and the Midnight-colored chassis is visible between the keys. The keyboard retains full-size function keys and a Touch ID button for authentication.

Tech journalist Nobi Hayashi tweeted photos of the Silver and Starlight color options, with the latter appearing to be a champagne-like gold.

The new MacBook Air features Apple's all-new M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU, a brighter 13.6-inch display with a notch, MagSafe charging, a 1080p camera, a fanless design, two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left side, a headphone jack with support for high-impedance headphones, four speakers, three microphones, and more. The notebook can be configured with up to a 2TB SSD and up to 24GB of unified memory.
The new MacBook Air will be available next month, but no specific date has been provided by Apple. Pricing will start at $1,199 in the United States, and the previous-generation MacBook Air with the M1 chip will remain available for $999.

I was asking myself the same. I think the Pro offers:I need some guidance here. I compared the new Air and Pro side by side. Except for a slightly bigger battery and a Touch Bar, the Pro seems like the lesser machine. The camera and screen are inferior, for sure. Even it’s price point is lower when compared to the 10 GPU Air. Why did Apple even bother? Am I missing something? Why would anyone buy that Pro?
Inflation starting to outpace the deflationary nature of technologyThe price point is waaaaaaay to high.
Thank you. I thought it was just me. I’m mostly happy with the Air. I wanted colors and a name change, but whatever. I’m disappointed Apple chose to muddy the waters by introducing a low-end Pro at the same time. There’s far too much overlap.I was asking myself the same. I think the Pro offers:
That's all I could come up with. Personally, if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the Air for my needs. I am surprised there is so little difference between the two.
- higher performance, better thermals allows higher clock speed (has quiet fans)
- larger battery for a couple hours more battery life
- Touch Bar (not necessarily a selling point)
- no notch
