References to Apple in Pop Culture

There are TONS of Macs on THE L WORD. For you's that don't know, it's a lesbian drama series on Showtime. The main character Bette is the president of an art muesum and uses a G4 12" iBook at home, and a G4 iMac at work. Alice who is a journalist who uses a G4 15" Powerbook. Jenny who is a writer who uses a Powerbook "Pismo". Helena is a wealthy investor and she has a 17" G4 Powerbook. And last there is Mark whom is a director and he has 2 G5 PowerMacs and 2 23" Apple "OldSchool Displays".
There is at least 5 Macs in every episode. I'll try to post some screenshots later. For those of you who have Showtime...check it out! It's an awesome show!!

ok, csi uses them ALL the time, i've seen multiple powerbooks, imac g4's and g5's and cinema displays

in friends, chandler used a mac in one episode, and a couple of times you see him reading macworld magazine...or is it macaddict...can't remember

My local cable company loves using Macs and Safari in its cable TV/internet ads.

Oh, and in the first season of Digimon, Izzy (?) used a Tangerine laptop with a pineapple logo on it...

Oh, and in Back to the Future, Part II there's an older Mac (the Plus?) in the '80s antique shop.

Also nip/tuck has had apple computers in it. They have had the G4 imac in their office and one of the characters has a powerbook which is used in a couple episodes. They got rid of the imac G4 a little later on and replaced it with a pc but on a recent episode they now have an imac G5

Aside from the many movies and TV shows, I do know that apple & macintosh are explicitly mentioned in the song: every OS sucks by Three Dead Trolls in a Baggy.

prety much any movie with a descent fashion or technology part of the movie will feature of mac. The movie about the girl and the guy and the bet they make to see how long it takes for them to get a guy or girl to fall in love with them, and shes a newspaper reporter, that has macs allover it.

as much as I love both the L-Word and Apple computers I gotta say it seems a little contrived at times. I mean, yeah the characters use computers alot, but it just seems a little on the forced $ide at time$.

In the UK there's been a major hoo-ha about Spooks placing Apple products in the show, which the BBC are not supposed to do as it's a licence fee corporation, thus shouldn't advertise.

I only noticed after all the media attention, but there's an Apple logo in just about every scene in the show.

I think Spooks is called MI5 in the US? Hopefully someone'll correct me on that.

the music video -only- by nine inch nails features a powerbook. it almost seems like the highlight of the video. their used to be a link for this flying around here on macrumors. i don't know if it is still alive. if you get the chance watch it. it is awesome.
i think trent reznor is known for using macintosh computers for his music. i saw some older studio footage were you could see somebody working on a mac.

Yeh, and he also has released some of his tracks in GarageBand format. The Hand that Feeds was first released for GB only in a remixing compo...

I don't know if anybody has said anything about "Sex and the City" yet. But here we go:

Carrie: 1st Generation PowerBook G3 (1st Season), Seasons (2-6) Bronze Keyboard PowerBook G3
Miranda: Pismo PowerBook G3, Titanium PowerBook G4
Charlotte: PowerMac G4 w/ Apple 15" LCD (Graphite), iBook G3 (Tangerine, Graphite, and Dual USB White)
Samantha: Secretary has PowerMac G4 and 17" LCD, iBook G4, and maybe some others (She's too busy having sex)

Other Macs:
Aidan (Carrie's Boyfriend in Seasons 3-4) purchased her a Indigo iBook G3 when her Bronze Keyboard PB died.
When Samantha has cancer, she does to clinic where the secretary there is using a 17" iMac G4.

Mean Girls features 2 eMacs (700MHz and 1GHz), and 2 iMac G3's (Blueberry and Grape).
13 Going on 30 features many PowerMac G4 MDD's and 17" and 20" LCD's, also a 17" iMac G4.
Shallow Hal, Jack Black's character has a Tangerine iMac in his apartment.

In Veronica Mars, she uses a 15" Aluminum PB.

They usually try to cover up the apple with a can of pencils or something, but other times they just.. don't.

In one episode, she was usin' exposé. I was like "YEA GIRL! MANAGE THOSE WINDOWS!"

Then, in another, she was video-conferencing using iChat... with a built-in iSight in her PB!
(OK, so the prop guys put a little dot on the PB and told her to call it a camera..)

and then she took an iPod shuffle, installed a camera in it and used it to solve the case!
When she took apart the Shuffle, she immediately took an exacto knife to the on/off/shuffle button.. I was just like, "Silly girl, you don't know how to take apart a shuffle!"
(then she plugged the shuffle into her PB to view them. Then, her friend just LEFT the PB unattended on a table for everyone to steal. Oh no.. nonono... But everyone must've had bad taste-- it wasn't stolen when she got back. Haha)

I noticed alot of reality TV's have mac's featured with the apple logos covered up. The Apprentice & America's Next Top Model(hey, it's full of half naked girls, what guy wouldn't like it?) have both done this.

Of cource when it's a g5 hooked up to a 23" cinema display(the white ones) it's pretty obviose

There are many sightings of iMac G3s in Boy Meets World. One is always in Mr. Feeny's classroom. There is usually another in the college center later on in the season. Oh and on That's So Raven, they always use a PowerBook but cover it with an ugly flower sticker.
