I buy if ;)

Rmbp 16 gb ram 512 ssd, thunderbolt 2, wifi ac
So I'm covered for the +6 years future.

I want a discrete GPU, nVidia if possible so I can keep using CUDA… :(

The idea of a small SSD and no discrete GPU will eventually push me out of Macbooks to buy, it will be a sad day to go back to Windows machines. :\

I have mixed feelings on discrete graphics. While discrete graphics is a must for gamers and graphics artists, they penalize other segment of users with worse battery life, increased heat, increased fan use, and higher cost.

I am a software developer and I just want a decent GPU that can keep up with internal and secondary displays. And at the same time, I want the longest battery life possible without increasing weight and size.

I am hoping Haswell brings just that and Apple offer discrete graphics as built-to-order option for those that need it.

As for storage, flash storage is becoming much cheaper. Today, one can shell out $2600 for non-retina MacBook Pro with 2.7GHz i7, 8GB RAM, 750GB hard disk, and high resolution graphics or $400 more for rMBP with 2.7GHz i7, 8GB RAM, 768GB flash storage. By next year, I fully expect 768GB flash storage rMBP to cost the same.

I'm considering buying a NAS myself. Exactly what brand/model is yours? And is it super-silent?

I just bought a Synology DS413 a month ago and I would highly recommend it. It's a little bit pricey, but it works fantastic and it's super quiet.

As for this thread's actual topic, I have to say early October with 10.9 installed on it. I am really hoping for a dGPU, for those people who say it kills the battery life and it's hotter, what's wrong with having two GPUs like they've been doing for years? It's the best of both worlds the only downside is it costs a little bit more, but it's more than worth it.

For those saying that it an iGPU would be the same or only slightly slower than the current dGPU they have now, why would you want this? When I get a new top of the line MacBook Pro I do not want a new GPU that is slightly slower than their old GPU they had which is almost 1 1/2 years old, which is in a MacBook Pro they haven't updated in 437 days. This is not a good upgrade!

We put it on the blog because it was a third-hand report with only a snippet of a summary available in a foreign language, and it's from a source with no track record.

It's also not sharing anything particularly new...September/October has been the circulating rumors and speculation.

Has nothing to do with importance of Mac vs. iOS...it's just a very skimpy rumor.

no offense.. but how is that any different than some of the iphone rumors? i mean come on.. how many more times do we need to hear about a plastic volume button or a bling'd out gold iphone that so and so's cousin's nephew in china heard about?.. to me.. and i'm sure plenty of others here find rmbp rumors to be more interesting than some plastic button for the 5c.. some of your iphone rumors don't have solid sources, yet they get repeatedly posted with the same info over and over. it is still a rumor site right? any interesting rumor should be posted on the front page..

Refreshed out of the market!

As much as I would have loved a rMBP, I wanted something I could open up and upgrade as time goes on. Upon arrival of my non-rMBP I swapped in a larger HD and am looking forward to maxing out the ram, and installing a SSD boot drive in the future. I have a hard time buying something that I cannot upgrade.

I agree before even turning on my MBP I maxed the Ram and replaced the DVD drive with the HD that came in the unit and installed a 480 GB SSD as the main drive. So I have about 1.25 TB in my MBP and its great no portable drive needed to keep the ITunes library on, all nice and clean.

I agree COMPLETELY!!!

i dont see why people get so irritated about not being able to upgrade the rMBP i personally have never upgraded any laptop just my desk top and even then you are limited by the hardware support,

also with the all lines of the MBP they can only be upgraded so far in terms of ram once its maxed out thats it yes you can put your own bigger SSD in it for cheaper but even then thats kind of it, or am i missing something ??

just my opinion :')

Because if you need more than the RAM and/or SSD available or if you need the maxed out, it is either NOT AVAIALBLE (1TB) or its EXTREMELY overpriced. Its a no brainer and Apple could have made it a bit thicker and left these options available with the retina screen. Instead, thinner = innovation. This is costing Apple in sales and if they discontinue the non-retina models, it will be a much bigger hit for them.

For example. A non-retina 13" Macbook Pro with a 750GB drive and 16GB RAM can run you in the range of $1350-$1400. With a retina Macbook Pro, its well over $2200 with only 8GB RAM. Its a joke.

This. Couldn't agree more. Who cares about the pill-shaped camera flash. Going from one architecture to another on a laptop (and everything that goes with it) is in my opinion a bit more interesting than saying over and over that a new color will be available for a freaking phone that most people will end up bashing about as soon as it's released. *head shake*

For the love of God - please bring back the 17"

I went to check out the 15" rMBP in the :apple: Store to compare it to my old 17" 2009 MBP. I was quite disappointed. After changing the screen resolution to get the same screen real estate as my old MBP (1920x1200) and firing up FCP X, the rMBP felt laggy. And everything on the screen becomes really small. Certainly wouldn't want to do something in the line of Cinema 4D or AE with that.

I'm really sad that they killed of the 17" line. So I bought a refurbished 17" i7 model, upgraded it myself to 16 GB of Ram, installed a 1 TB SSHD and replaced the DVD Drive with a conventional 1 TB HD. I need that Space for my Video Raw files on certain projects. It is great to be able to edit somewhere out station without the need of external HDs, dangling cables. And it is much faster, too.

I am happy with my machine. It is fast and has lots of internal storage. And if 1 TB SSDs come available for a reasonable price, I can upgrade it myself.

I really wish :apple: would offer again not only mainstream computers. Man, I would love a 17" rMBP with a dual drive setup (1 SSD + 1 HD/SSHD) and 16 GB Ram.

It really depends on what you're using the machine for. For me, battery and heat are way more important.

What about the other part of my post? I literally said having to GPUs solves your problems, with battery and heat, but also helps anyone who wants power.

That dGPU still uses power and space even if it's not being used.

I don't think it uses any power when it's not being used.

As for the space, what would replace it? The rMBPs are thin enough for me.

I still think it's the best of both worlds, I want power sometimes and I also don't want bad battery life or it to be hot when I'm watching a movie.

It probably uses a little bit of power so that it can instantly switch. Otherwise it would need a bit to initialize.

Also, iGPU only would prevent issues like the machine switching to the dGPU when using apps that don't need it. A recent example is AirPort Utility.

Black aluminum macbook pro

Will we ever see a black MacBook again? Apple has proven it can successfully produce black aluminum products in the iPhone and iPad Mini. I WANT A BLACK ALUMINUM MACBOOK PRO AND/OR MACBOOK AIR!

Maybe it does use a little bit of power, I would think it would be so minute it wouldn't matter at all, but who knows maybe over an entire battery charge it would add up to several minutes, I'm not sure.

The part about the dGPU being used when it isn't really needed is definitely true. It could be fixed by better software, but right now it can be awful (for example right now Mail is using my dGPU ).

A refresh of all MBPs, MBAs and iMacs would make sense, as Apple has already released a new AirPort Extreme and new Time Capsule with 802.11ac.

Unless new computers come out that support what Wireless standard, it really wouldn't make sense for people to start buying these (Airport Extreme and Airport Express).

If the update is as weak as the Macbook Air one, I'm switching to PC

Good for you!

None of the current MacBook Pros can take more than 16GB of RAM, ever. DDR3 has a maximum of 8GB per SO-DIMM. You'll have to wait for DDR4 to go higher with 2 slots.

So on a maxed 15" retina, the only part you could even conceivably upgrade on a standard 15" Pro that you can't on the retina is the drive (well, the optical drive, naturally). And the ironic thing is that that's the one part that you can upgrade on the retina, although I don't know of anyone who offers anything as large, let alone larger, than what Apple offers at the present time.

So, upgradeability really is a non-issue for the most part, with the following exceptions:

1. You want to do something with the optical drive bay.
2. You want a 13" Pro with 16GB of RAM.

While both are valid, that's a far cry from the "but I'd never buy a computer I can't upgrade!"

I would love to see the return of the 17" Macbook Pro with a retina display. It would be awesome if they could release a ~4k screen res alongside a 4k 27" Thunderbolt display.

Also they need to bring back the user replaceable RAM option. I'd want the option to upgrade the RAM in a year or two. I'd sacrifice a little bit of height for the RAM slots.

Well put...well put. Upgradability for a laptop has always been minimal and like phones/tablets/refrigerators few will concern themselves with upgradability in the future. I guess the only real downside is that there will be a premium on ram/storage.

So:

September:

iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPod updates, iOS 7, rMBPs?

October:

iOS 7 for iPad, iPad 5, iPad mini 2, Mavericks, Mac Pro, new Final Cut?

Silent Update: iMac and Mac Mini after Mavericks?

Both of these events seem extremely packed!!!

Where does the apple TV update fit into this?

I really do hope we see a iWork and iLife and Aperture X update a long the way... My guess would be October.
