refurb iPhones back in today 5/21!

got an email....

I finally got an email on this order, but not the one I was hoping for. This states that it is on backorder. I am going to try and cancel this order today. :(
I don't think it is worth the hassle of waiting and wondering.
They sent a link to check it but it doesn't work. They sent an 877 number but they can't find the order.

Great blog. Loved it. That is my same frustration.
 
I got the same e mail this morning...saying nothing. A classic example of a company too large to know what the heck it's doing.
I'm done, & will pick up a new 16GB at the local store, wait for the 3G (but from most leaked pictures I actually like version 1 better), and just refuse shipment/return this one IF it ever shows up!
 
You should be able to cancel the order now.

I just did with no problem. And I called back to confirm the cancellation.

Since it's now in backorder status, cancel the orders now before they charge you.

I haven't gotten any email whatsoever. I'm reluctant to call customer service because I hate rejection!:D I don't want to cancel my order either. I just want a stinkin' notification about the backorder.

I really have to wonder what was going through the mind of the person who thought this was a good idea!
 
I'm tired of my Sidekick... I just want my iPhone, a refurbished one at that. Is that too much to ask from AT&T??
 
I got one from the 14th too. I ordered another 8gb and a 16gb on the 21st. All I received from the 21st batch of refurbs are two bags.
 
I just got a call back from Stacy at the Office of the President. According to her, there are currently over 500 refurb iPhones backordered with no estimated delivery date. She said AT&T got some (unknown number) in stock and proceeded to take orders for a whole day on their site without regard to available inventory. "We were overwhelmed by the number of orders we received." ... yeah, really ... how many did you expect?

Anyway, she said she handles complaints for the CEO himself and there's nowhere higher to go. After she told me that new ones are in stock, I asked her to give me a new one for the price of the refurb. She replied that because of their agreement with Apple, they're not allowed to discount any phones. It sounds like I'm going to have to cancel my order and buy a new iPhone if I want to get any testing done on hardware before the app store launch.
 
I'm gonna hold out until the end of this week and perhaps the end of the day next Monday. If nothing else transpires, then cancellation it is. This is truly absurd!
 
I cancelled my order once I received the backorder email. I was pretty pissed off as well. I cant believe it. I knew the deal was to good to be true. Damn it

Not true, I got mine for 250 on the 14th.

Curious as to how the other poster about managed to order 3 and they wouldn't let me order any more than 1. In fact they canceled my order in the 21st.

Simple, had the gf order one and a buddy order another one.
 
I haven't cancelled my order as of yet. I am going to wait and see what happens. Maybe when the new ones come in they will have some more refurbs to hand out.:eek:
 
Any of you still trying to wait it out might want to give customer service another call to verify that you still have a phone on backorder. I've been reading reports that AT&T is canceling orders without informing much less asking customers.
 
My plan is just to wait for my Iphone to get here and if the new iphones are released on june 9th i will be well within lines of the 14 day rule, win win?

Same plan here. This delay is actually a good thing, as it puts me right within the announcement window.

However, I would suggest calling. I found out that my order was canceled, but was able to place another order. Take it for what it's worth, but the rep said that stock is back in (~2,000 units, w/ 600 backorders to fill), and it should ship Monday or Tuesday.
 
They charged my credit card $269.54! Hopefully it'll go through this time and they would actually ship it.... I'm crossing my fingers until I get the tracking number from DHL. I'll keep you guys posted.
 
I actually just got an email with a FedEx tracking number for the iPhone. I'm still skeptical, but I know of at least 1 other customer who got the same email today so we'll see.
 
I haven't gotten a stinkin' email that contains a tracking number, so I decided to give att a call. They were able to pull up my order and gave me a fedex tracking number as well. Fedex doesn't deliver/ship on Sundays. I'm assuming that a tracking number is already on the package and waiting to be shipped through Fedex tomorrow morning.
