$12 whatever not a big deal at all. But i didnt realize it is being shipped from China. Says itll be delivered on the 30th in the morning. Guy on the phone at Apple said he thought Texas was where they were shipped from. Big difference haha
They have the second gen in a 64 gb for $499.00. The 16 gb and 32 look to be out of stock yeah.
Haha don't worry about that. Just keep checking back once or twice every hour. I was hunting down a refurb iPad 2 for a few days. Refurbs showed up every day but I was just a little too slow to pull the trigger on it the first two days since I wanted to avoid ordering it at work, which I ended up doing the next day. You just have to have a little patience, keep checking, and pull the trigger quickly when they show up.
Keep trying they will come back. I did the same thing and just kept checking and they eventually were back in stock.

For those that are getting a refurb, would you mind posting your impressions on overall condition? If they appear just as good as new I may not open my iPad 2 and send it back to Apple and just buy a 32GB refurb.
I unfortunately won't get mine until June 13. That's because I'm Canadian and took advantage of the American deal, got it shipped to the US and am having someone bring it back to me. However you can look at YouTube for iPad 2 refurb unboxings and a simple Google search will give you lots of good info about refurbs.
First off, they replace whatever was faulty. They (go through a test must more stringent than new products go through. They replace the externals screen, case) if there's so much as a scratch on them. They look brand new and run brand new. The only difference is Apple can't legally advertise them as new since they aren't, even though they're like-new. That's the only reason the value is lower since people (and I think Apple fans especially) LOVE having the latest 'brand new' item. Honestly it should be worth the $80 you save (or, if you go for the 32, the extra storage). Most refurbs from other companies get a 30-day limited warranty but Apple stands behind their refurbs so strongly that they give you a full 1-year like all their new products. That's what really sets them apart here.
Someone who has a refurb should be able to back me up on this. There's no reason not to get it refurbished. You'll just have to wait approximately a week for shipping since it ships from Shenzhen, China when you order.

If I did not know that it was a refurb I would have sworn it was new. Could not see the difference. For me it was new. Not any problems showing. I was told that a new case was put on it plus a new battery. It looks new.

I should get mine on Tuesday. Ill post my impressions on the condition. Like others have said, im expecting it to look and perform brand new.

Do you think Apple would charge me a restocking fee if I returned the new iPad 2? Actually it's being delivered via UPS, I wonder if I can refuse the package? I guess I need to call Apple Tues, morning.
I would definitely call them and see if you can refuse, the package and then order a rerub. I ordered mine one evening took standard shipping and it was delivered the next day.

You won't get it on Monday. Post offices and delivery services are closed because of memorial day. So you wasted $12 for expedited shipping.
Definitely get the refurb. I bought my refurb iPad 2 16gb about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Mine shipped from China, as I believe most refurb units do, with standard shipping, and got here in a reasonable amount of time. This thing was just like brand new when opened, and I seriously doubt anyone can tell the difference between a brand new and refurb unit just out of the box, at least just by looking at it. And you certainly can't beat the 1 year warranty with the refurb.
I wonder if he called Apple if he could get his $12 back if he explains it that way?
they put up a new lot of iPad 2 16GB wifi refurbs every week. They had them in stock earlier this week but ran out by mid-week.
check tonight, tomorrow, and monday morning. it's not as if their supply of iPad 2 16GB models are gone. they just can't refurbish them quick enough to meet the demand of such a great tablet at a much more affordable price ($319).
i bought one of those refurbs as well. it's such a great tablet and for $319 i think it was a steal

Ordered one last Thursday, standard shipping to arrive mid this week. Debated getting one since they are more of a toy than a necessity but for 319 I decided it was worth it.

for $499, NO WAY! i could just buy an i3 laptop
for $319...that's much better! then when the next iPad comes out i could probably flip this one for $150 as long as it's in good condition

im kind of nervous about the black one I ordered. Most if not all the things ill be doing is internet reading and everything text. I read guys saying white is better for that. I guess if its straining on my eyes ill just get a white case. They make cases that cover all the black right?
