I don't expect a new watch until the end of 2017 or early 2018..

It's December 2016 right now so even if they release a new watch the end of September 2017 that what? = 9 months away! If you are going to wait that long then you might as well hold out for the AW 4 in Sept 2018.. Heck, I hear the AW 5 in Sept 2019 is going to be awesome so why not wait for it?

Get what you want and rock it! Tech is constantly changing and be updated. Add to that, people are still waiting for their series 2's and Apple can't keep them in stock at retail stores. I'd be wiling to bet we don't see a series 3 until the end of 2017 or early 2018......

The above comments have a very good point!!

Congrats! I am sure you will love it!

I had the OG (S0) and hated it because of the slow load times and the fact it didn't have GPS and was not swim proof.. The S2 is night and day -v- the original and I absolutely love mine!

What color / combo did you get? Mine is the 42mm Space Black SS with black sports band... The S2 refurb I ordered to give as a gift is the 42mm SS with white sports band..

Silver ss 42mm, white sports band. That's the only refurb they had in "stock" lol. We'll see how I like it and I might trade it in a get the black ss.

Update on the refurb I ordered to give as a gift.. It was opened this morning and it looked brand new. Not a mark on it that any of us could find. This one looks like someone bought it and never even tried it on before returning it..

Other than the charger snafu described earlier, very happy with the purchase!

That's good that you didn't find any marks or scratches on the watch. Some forum members have mentioned that they have been finding scratches on the refurbished and replacement models. I find that strange with Apple, I thought they replaced the casing on the Apple Watch, when they are sold as refurbished models. But obviously in some cases, they are not. At least from what I have read.

My refurb series 2 42mm space grey aluminum is in perfect condition. Didn't come with a charging brick which I thought was odd. Did come with a charging cable and surprisingly it was the 6 foot stainless type cable that used to come with the series 0 stainless stee. Does the series 2 stainless still come normally with the 6 foot stainless cable?

Series 2 includes the 2 Meter cable. And Series 1 does not include the charging brick to keep the price point more affordable.

Mine came in today. It's perfect! Came with the charging cable and base thingy lol. No scratches... hard-pressed to know it was refurbished.

Got mine today. Couple small scratches on the back. Don't think imma worry about it as it's gonna happen anyways. Heart rate sensor seems clean, no dead skin cells. Pretty happy overall.

Definitely mixed reviews on receiving the refurbished models. Some have had Watches almost as new or like new without any damage, others have had models showing up with scratches and dirty. Seems Apple isn't replacing the casing on the Watches, which I was under the impression they did. Similar to how they replace the iPhone aluminum shell.

Although, replacing the stainless or aluminum seems it might be More time consuming in labor.

Silly question from me maybe, but doesn't Apple give refurbished units a new / never used serial number? I guess not and I didn't know they recycled the previous serial number.

If they were starting with new serial numbers then they'd have to replace the case since it's etched in..

For some reason, I thought refurbished units got new serial number..

Thats not a silly question at all. Apple does give a new serial number for iPhones. But I'm not entirely sure how they handle Apple Watches, being its engraved On The back. Perhaps the serial number is reassigned accordingly.

Yeah, if my box didn't have "refurbished" written on it, and I was given this as gift from someone else, I wouldn't know it wasn't brand new. Everything was packaged, wrapped, etc., just as it was new.

Full white sport band was attached, and a shorter portion of the holes section was included as well. No blemishes, and the watch face was wrapped in the plastic. Same with the charger pad.

Sounds like you got a nice watch. Good for you. The stainless model isn't cheap and for what you're paying for, I would expect only the best results. Good choice.

My (new/non-refurb) Aluminum S2 had the shorter cable (~1m?!) in the box.

mine did too...but then I got a refurb because my brand new model got lost in the ocean and the refurb came with the 6 foot stainless charge cable

Sounds like some of the refurbished models are receiving varying cables and sizes. Perhaps Apple isn't making any guarantees of what specifics you're going to receive in the package.

Apple hooked me up and it all arrived last Friday.. Since the refurb I ordered to give as a gift didn't have the charging cable Apple sent me a 2M cable, a charging brick AND a Magnetic Charging Dock for free!

Kudos Apple and thanks! The dock rocks!

I kinda regret not nabbing a Series 1 when Target had 'em for $70 off after Christmas. I keep flip-flopping on whether or not I want a Apple Watch at all, which is what primarily held me back.

If you are active then I'd say get one.. I generally use mine about 80% for activity tracking and 20% for the smart watch functions..

I see Garmin just announced the Fenix 5.. 47mm Sapphire = $700! Looking at that price, the Apple Watch is a bargain!

My .02
