My smart keyboard should be arriving today. Reviews say there are better overall keyboards out there but they are also bulkier, unreliable, and in some cases damage the iPad. That just leaves me without the Apple Pencil, but as I am not a graphic artist or a big note taker I think that is something I can wait for v2.

What's your bets for anyone actually upgrading the current Smart Keyboard won't be compatible, the 29w charger will but a USB type C to USB type C cable will be required. You heard it here first... possibly. :)

I think we may see a new USB-C charger, but I think they will stick to lightning in the devices (iPhone/iPad). So you will use the USB-C to lightning cable to charge/Sync your devices from now on. Obviously the existing USB-A to lightning cables will still work for people that want to use their old chargers or sync to their older computers that don't have USB-C.

I have the feeling that the Smart Keyboard will be compatible with it's newer models, yet... they will make a better one for the 10.5" inch model. Cause currently it's missing backlight and more iOS specific keys.

Now, in regards to changing the lightning port in favor of the USB-C... that's NOT going to happen. The lightning port brings it revenue... why would they change it in favor of the USB-C? I do wish that since Apple is pushing everyone toward USB-C with their MacBooks... I think they should include 2 cables like the USB-C and Lighting for both the iPhone & iPad out of the box.

But.... that's NOT going to happen either.

It's no surprise that the 12.9 is slated for an update. So why then are you phrasing it as a question?

The question is will Apple announce something in March or much later.

Either way, I'm fine with waiting. Some of you others, not so much.

Hmm. It was phrased as a question because it WAS a question. I just started looking and didn't know if the 12.9 stock was typically this sparse.

It is also interesting that it is out of stock nearly everywhere. This typically signals an imminent refresh. Also interesting is that the 9.7 (also slated for a refresh), is still widely available.

My bet is the new 12.9 hits the market first, and as early as Feb/Mar.... but who knows!

The pro 9.7 isn't due for a refresh. It came out less than a year ago.

It likely will be refreshed this year (uses A9X vs 10 or 10X), but I agree the 12.9 likely first. However various rumor sites are now claiming both at the same time later in the year... rumors...

I tend to think they will lower the price of the 9.7" model and not update that at all. Introduce the new 10.5" inch model along with updating the 12.9" model.

Now how they plan on pricing them... I'm not so sure. Especially if this new 10.5" model will be bezel less... it will be highly sought after compared to the other models and should have a higher price tag compared to the 12.9" model.

But, then it will be interesting how they plan on doing the storage tiers.

The 9.7" Pro will be right around 1 year old if it is replaced this spring, which is how often the iPads were always updated until recently (except for the 3rd to 4th generation which was less than a year).

I could easily see them updating the 9.7" to give it the features the 12.9" Pro has that it does not (more RAM, faster USB speed, etc) as well as the new A10x chip. The 12.9" will be updated to gain the things the 9.7" has that it does not (true tone display, etc) and the new A10x chip.

I'm still not sold on there being a 10.5" iPad. It just doesn't make sense to me for there to be two iPads that close in size.

I think the 10.5 is basically the 9.7 without bezels. Apple will still have a huge backstock of 9.7 models and hardware, thus they will sell it to deplete inventory.

That video is from Dec 2015... approximately a month after the Pencil was released. Not only was the Pencil in short supply, but there were many apps that still had not been updated to support it. Of those that did support it at the time, some of them didn't support it well.

I hate sounding like an Apple apologist, but this notion that single user experience is an accurate reflection of the Apple Pencil experience is absurd. Especially one so "out there" as depicted in the video. if THAT experience was typical, there would be a great outcry by customers.

Yes, but nothing changed in a year and a half. That is my video. I still get those issues even a year and a half later. Tried all the settings, everywhere, even sought help from procreate. On my 3rd iPad pro and second apple pencil. I Finally just settled on a glove. Less than ideal but at least it won't erase my lines anymore.

Its rumoured that the new ipad pro 12.9" only to feature standard 8 gb RAM, quad core , the two high cores to have 2.6ghz, true tone display, wide gamut, brighter lighter
Wow dream machine!!!! You could make impressive art on this

I love my iPad! I do with it had force touch, better battery, true tone display, and my biggest and most ultimate complaint is mandatory iPad Pro App Resizing and Landscape viewing. I hate when I'm using with my Smart Keyboard and when I get to an app that doesn't support it. Its very annoying! But overall I love my iPP 12.9

I agree, 9.7 pro is about to become the Air 2- the cheap tablet. This way it'll also get people buying the low end model to look at the expensive accessories they can use with it. I could see them only dropping it $100 to $499 though and getting rid of the $399 bigger tablet.
