So you think they will have machines go up to 3 years without updates? Btw the boot camp update already leaked an Intel 16 mbp, so that’s all but confirmed to happen.
No. They're going to replace more Intel Macs as the transition rolls onward. They'll also update the M1 Macs that already released as they won't be tied to Intel's release schedule with those Macs. I agree that the Boot Camp leak for the supposed 2020 16" MacBook Pro IS telling. But they are running out of time in 2020 for that leak to have been accurate/effective. They will otherwise update the rest of the lineup during their usual timeframe with updates with some being delayed a bit more than usual (i.e. 21.5" iMac and Mac Pro, give or take 16" MacBook Pro depending on how that Boot Camp leak shakes out).

the current thermal designs cant handle Intel chips properly anyway. Creating a new form factor that accommodates Intel thermals would be costly from a design standpoint

Out of curiosity, I'm wondering how Dell, Lenovo or Asus are able to handle Intel properly and offer similar thin and light form factor.
Not mentioning that Ice Lake and beyond are much less energy hungry.

This year (setting aside the M1 chip), Apple seems to be stuck in a 2014-2016 version of Newton Land. As an Apple shareholder I dig that they are wildly profitable, but as a customer and consumer of their products, I sure wish they'd quit throwing old chassis at us, and implement a major Macbook remodel and revision. Bring on the M2, thin bezels, no fans, mini led, a better front facing camera, and God forbid a touch screen.

Yes, I know, if they put a touch screen on the Macbook it will take a bite out of the iPad, or will it? Most of the hard core Apple fanboys out there will sell their dogs and sisters to get everything Apple makes, so I'm guessing the negative impact to the iPad will be minimal.

Most people I've seen have been predicting for a long time now that 2021 would probably be the year for a form factor overhaul.

I am no longer interested in Intel Macs. I even sold what was left of my Intel stock and bought more Apple stock. AS will be as disruptive as the iPhone was.

Haha.
Love the naivety.
It’s about when the contract with intel expires. They had to have a little bit of an overlap timeframe wise in case things got nasty.
It’s also about the stock of processors they have at hand.
You lot think ‘reasonably’.
That’s why you’re wasting time reading and writing on forums. Myself included. But at least I’m not delusional. 🙂
#neveramillionaire

Apple’s contract with intel doesn’t require apple to buy anything.

Desperately waiting for 16Inch model.
That's what she...

*looks around*

Oh, wrong thread.. *sigh* I miss the iPhone order thread so much.

But in all seriousness, I'm eyeing my M1 13" MBP and thinking I may have to return it to Apple if this 14 inch MBP is waiting to happen... .

The M1 is a very powerful CPU, but (if I understand correctly) it can only use its own integrated graphics, which cannot compete with highend GPUs.
