Not sure if this is what you are trying to accomplish... if you are talking about getting rid of gradient background when setting pictures as your home/lock screen then you will need to SSH into '/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SpringBoardUI.frameworks/' and copy this file into that location. Respring and you are done.

Awsome! Thanks

Still having trouble :(

Hey guys,

First of all, thanks to everyone who has attempted to help me in this thread. I have read and attempted all methods in the previous posts and I am still having problems.

I have SSH'd into my device and tried to replace the file, I have also tried to make a theme and have WinterBoard implement the theme but both attempts have failed.

I am using a basic background and want the whole lockscreen to be transparent. I have already succeeded in making both the clock/status bar background transparent but the only one tedious problem is the remaining gradient. I am also using AndroidLock XT as my [lockscreen] unlocking method.

Please help, I am pretty iPhone savvy and have a intermediate to expert knowledge with SSH. I'm just struggling with removing the gradient on the lockscreen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am also having trouble with this. The theme file posted and theme posted earlier in the thread did not seem to work for me - maybe things changed in 4.2.1? There seem to be 3 files for the wallpaper gradient now (...Full, ...Bottom and ...Top). I tried renaming all but the gradient remains. If I use a widget on my homepage the gradient disappears fortunately but it would be great if I did not need to use a SB widget always. I am probably missing a simple solution...

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/SpringBoardUI.frameworks/
WallpaperGradientPortraitFull@2x~iphone.png

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
WallpaperGradientPortraitBottom@2x~iphone.png
WallpaperGradientPortraitTop@2x~iphone.png

Same problem here, anyone have any input?

Finally got it...

Hey thanks for posting the above info. I had been trying to solve this problem for a long time and realized there must be another file somewhere that needed to be adjusted. After altering the Bottom@2x~iphone.png located at:
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/
It now works and the gradient is gone.

You have to replace this file with one that is COMPLETELY clear (I made this myself in photoshop). It's 1x237 pixels. Backup the original file and then upload the new clear one with iphone explorer.

I attached the file I used to make it easier for y'all.

How exactly do we SSH into our iphones?

You can use iFunBox. There are several other really popular options but I always use iFunBox. Recently there was an article on iDownloadBlog which covered the more popular programs like iFunBox, WinSCP, and iTools.
