Which leads me to the simplest explanation which is it's a defect. Maybe it will not reduce water resistance, but it is visually unpleasing.

I had two 7's 32 and 128

128 had this gap on top and down half of the left side

My 7+ 128 does not have this gap

I don't have to go to moon to know that is not made out of blue cheese. Morover the demo units i played around on friday had no gaps of any kind anywhere.

All the demo units I looked at had gaps.

So if your 32gb didn't have the gap, it's safe to say that this is a widespread defect.

I checked a friends 6, there is a gap that you can just fit paper in if you really try, but it's not nearly as large as the one on my phone to the point where you can see the seal/dust inside.

oh, my 7 has the gap but i don't see any dust. lemme upload a picture here soon.

I wouldn't say the phone is rendered useless, it's just manufacturing variation / a bit of a defect. If I had a nice screen and fully functional reliable unit I wouldn't bother to care too much

Yeah everything else about my phone is really good, except for the buzzing/hissing that shows up very rarely in quiet videos. I'm more worried about the water resistance being compromised instead of the cosmetics.

I have heard no CPU whine on my 7+

Video has a slight hiss but may be a sensitive mic,

I lucked out big time on my beautiful screen we'll built 7+ first shot

Got 6+ and 7+ right first shot. 6s+ had to do two swaps and even then settled a little

I have a great screen, no hissing. The gap is covered by a case so I never see it.

I woulda never noticed if not for MR. I never noticed on my 6S or 6 for the 2 years I owned those phones.

I can see the dust especially every time I use the phone in the sunlight. Any chance you could provide a pic of yours so I can compare?

Also, I'd be extremely surprised if you don't hear a Hiss when putting the apple logo right up to your ear. Seems to affect pretty much every phone.

Likewise, if you take a video recording in a silent room, and play it back with high volume, you should hear a buzz/click/Hiss that isn't background noise. If you don't, you probably got really lucky!

Yeah that's pretty much the same as mine, could you try recording a video in a really quiet room and play back on loud volume and listen for a buzz/clicking/Hiss that is different from the background noise?

I've done this and there's no hissing. But I'll do it here for ya.

What website should I use to upload the video? I'll take a 10 second video in the bathroom with the door shut so the video will be pitch dark.

I have the gap on my 7 plus jet black and black and on my 7 jet black all of them on the top!

Black also has it at the bottom!

I have checked 2 more phones and they are the same!

Got a gap on my brand new 7plus too. Noticed within 3 hours of buying as it was filled with dust.
