I need a quick solution to a problem. We have over 15000 images that need renaming. Is there a simple way to find text in a file name (from a cvs file) and replace text in a file name (again from a csv file)??

    Eg. File Name - AA021 asphalt/fuchsia FRONT.jpg

We have a CSV of full names "asphalt" and a CSV of short names "ASP" etc.

So FINAL File Name would be - AA021 ASP/FUS FRONT.jpg

If you select the files, CTRL click (right click), and select “rename x items” you can select “replace text” from the menu and do a find and replace. But it won’t pull input from a CSV file.

I’ve been a longtime user of ABFR (A Better Finder Rename) for the more complex issues:

ABFR does work with tab delimited file lists, but not CSV, so you would have to edit your lists a bit. You can download a trial of ABFR and the instructions are all in the Help menu, so you could see if it works for you before you purchase it.
