Looks great! I do not think Apple will make a 5.7" phone.

IMO too close to the 7" iPad Mini and way to big! Apple made a big thing about single handed use, a 5.7 inch phone would be ridiculous.

I would love it to be this thin (and maintain battery life), but I'd be so surprised if they managed the former, let alone the latter.

It wouldn't surprise me if iOS 8 was far more energy efficient. So they could make the iPhone thinner and still allow for the same kind of battery life that we get with the 5s.

Analysts will make their predictions based on these unverified specs used for renderings. Even if this renderings are fake, wallstreet will say Apple didn't deliver and drive the stock down after the keynote.

One could argue that even if these renderings are fake, they are indicative of the public mindset desiring such a device. A hypothetical drop in stock price would be a result of "not giving the consumer what they want" in this scenario.

why am I feeling slightly underwhelmed. Maybe I'm expecting too much and maybe it'll be better when I have I actually have one.:(

I actually think this looks quite nice. Assuming there are no nogatives (e.g. reduced battery life) this is a nice, sleek looking phone :)

apple...

KEEP THE PHONE AS THICK AS THE 4S AND PUT IN A BIGGER BATTERY.

THINNER ≠ BETTER

(yes i know these are renderings)

No.

How about Apple introduce better battery technology that allows them to go thinner and have better battery life.

Thinner + better battery life = better.

Ughck

Apple is supposed to lead, not cave to the consumer cattle like every other tech manufacturer. Yes yes...you gotta do that to some extent (gold? really?) but I want a SMALLER iPhone. My eyes work, and If i wanted a phablet I'd just get a damn tablet. Technology is supposed to get smaller and smaller, it's why we're experimenting with wearables.
Also, quit bitching about battery life. I use my phone from when I wake to when I go to bed and plug it in with about 20 to 30 % left. Texting, Fbook, twitter, GPS, email, phone calls, Spotify during every commute over bluetooth and often music not cached offline, etc etc. Yes I've done all the "tweaks", so you could argue that you "shouldn't have to" do that out of the box, that's fair, but most people who aren't getting a full day are doing something a little unreasonable (however necessary) and should expect to have to compromise.

At some point in the near future, the headphone jack will have to either change or disappear.

Bluetooth headphones and wireless charging. I'm sure we'll get there at some point but probably a ways off yet.

As for the renders, meh. I wouldn't mind seeing another glass backed phone but that looks a little bland. Ultimately as long as it's bigger I'm buying.

And I agree, quit making it thinner and put a bigger/better battery in it. As far as I'm concerned at this point thin is not a feature / selling point (for me).

I don't think a bigger battery is the Apple solution, it's too easy.

Apple tends to use it's brain power in order to make a more efficient product instead, but sadly this tends to result in the same battery life for a smaller product, instead of a longer battery life for a same sized product.

I wish they'd do the latter, just once, so all future iPhones have a 1.5 - 2 day battery life.

Really? technology is supposed to get better, not smaller. Sometimes smaller is better, sometimes it isn't. For millions, a bigger iPhone is a better iPhone.

how is "not changing" an example of leading?

the phone as virtually looked the same since the iphone 4

also you usage may not need a bigger screen but what about the folks that watch movies on their commute?

sure you can text and email on a small screen and listen to music with no screen

I can't see how that wont have a ton of flex in the pocket. The current 5 and 5s have flex already. As thin as those renders are, I'd be afraid to put that in my pocket.

Flex? I did not know this was an issue. How is your phone flexing? what is the scenario that causes this? I place my iphone 5 in my back pocket all the time because it is just easier than using my front pockets and I don't think I have ever noticed "flex"

Guys,

I think these renderings are a bit deceptive in terms of the thinness. They mention that the saving off comes as only 0.5mm from the current 5S. 0.5mm is very little to shave off so its almost like they take one sheet of a glass off and you have it. The renderings show that its super thin but I think they are deceptive cause they show bigger iPhone so we get the impression that its WAY thinner than the current 5S (which is not true as its only 6.5% reduction).
On the renderings itself. Yes, rounded edges gives you less room for internals but they give you better feel of the product. I think we can all assume that iPad Air direction is more than granted if not for this generation then for the next one.

I think this is actually very close to what the final product will look like and if that is the case, I will be very happy to stand in the line again. My iPhone 4 is getting very rusty :))
