The theoretical 4.7" model would be the same physical dimensions of the current iPhone 5s/5c, right? I really don't want my phone to be any wider than it currently is.
I didn't think it could be in the same chassis at 4.7", it will need to go a bit wider unless Apple comes up with some amazing display technology. The theoretical 4.7" model would be the same physical dimensions of the current iPhone 5s/5c, right? apple...
KEEP THE PHONE AS THICK AS THE 4S AND PUT IN A BIGGER BATTERY.
THINNER ≠ BETTER
(yes i know these are renderings)
Actually yes....
Which one would you pick?
Actually yes....
Which one would you pick?
1. Why would anyone put their phone in their back pocket and sit on it?
2. The average back pocket size is probably a about twice the width as even the bigger smartphones. Believe it or not the iPhone 5S dimensions aren't the maximum allowed to fit into pockets.
Yet another anorexic iPhone...yawn! Jony Ive is part of the problem, not part of the solution. I would much rather have someone who lives in the real world design these things. The only "good news" is a rumor that there may be a mutiny brewing at Apple as there appear to be a number of people who are not happy with him and that he is not universally well regarded at the mother ship.
Personally, I'd rather have an iPhone designed by this forum (and left to the engineers to implement). I'd also rather see some people who understand what a kludge iOS is put in charge of fixing it.
Apple is supposed to lead, not cave to the consumer cattle like every other tech manufacturer. Yes yes...you gotta do that to some extent (gold? really?) but I want a SMALLER iPhone. My eyes work, and If i wanted a phablet I'd just get a damn tablet. Technology is supposed to get smaller and smaller, it's why we're experimenting with wearables.
Also, quit bitching about battery life. I use my phone from when I wake to when I go to bed and plug it in with about 20 to 30 % left. Texting, Fbook, twitter, GPS, email, phone calls, Spotify during every commute over bluetooth and often music not cached offline, etc etc. Yes I've done all the "tweaks", so you could argue that you "shouldn't have to" do that out of the box, that's fair, but most people who aren't getting a full day are doing something a little unreasonable (however necessary) and should expect to have to compromise.
I'd rather they keep trying to make it thinner. I don't need my battery to last a week. I charge every day and I'm not on my phone 24/7. I'd rather not have a fat phone in my pocket.
I really like this mockup. Large, minimal bezel, rounded edges, and hopefully a metal backing and not glass.

You don't live in reality.
I think I'm the only one who finds the iPhone5S already too thin. I really liked the feel of the 3GS. Nice curved back. Nice weight. Oh well.
when it comes to a handheld device, no.
it makes it too hard to hold.
my iPhone 5 feels better in the leather case than naked.
maybe my hands are too big..![]()
Not a valid comparison. For an appliance for which ergonomics is less of a concern, yeah I'd want it as thin and light as possible.
That doesn't make sense. Those two TVs aren't even the same technology. If you asked whether I prefer an LCD panel 5mm thick or 20mm thick I'd say I don't care. Even if I'm hanging it on a wall.
I rather have scratched aluminum than broken glass
I might like that too. I think the iPhone 4 had the most attractive back of all. It was clean, elegant and durable. (NB: I currently have an iPhone 5 but I always think when I see a naked black iPhone 4 that "damn, that looks pretty good even today")
I don't understand why the artists of these renderings want to make the iPhone look like a Lumia.
Not even close!
Really? Reality begs to differ. And why not. They have spurned the _Universal_ Serial Bus like a baws.
When do we get to the point when all our stuff is 'thin' enough?
And once we get there, will Apple be out of ideas on how to innovate their designs?
