Apple may be releasing THREE 6.7” iphones later this year which is just ridiculous and a waste of sizing options. The 14 Plus is £950 (very much premium pricing) in the UK and sold less than the 13 mini it replaced!
The Plus might sell "less" than the mini (nobody really knows except Apple), but it also worked as a decoy product, prompting people to spend a bit more to get the Pro, and the 14 Pro/Pro Max are selling better than ever. Tim Cook loves things that makes Apple more money, so the Plus is staying.

iPhone SE/Mini chassis is the most ergonomic and easiest to operate. Those of us who want a smaller device hope that Apple won’t disappoint. I have bought every new high end iPhone, that stopped this year with the 14’s. No mini, no upgrade from my 13 mini. I’m sure others feel the same.

I'm not sure why iPhone 15 Plus will exist when we're going to have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and (possibly) iPhone Ultra.

Apple needs to consider bringing back iPhone Mini. It should contain iPhone 15 Plus features. It will sell very well.
And also give the Mini (if released)
and/or the Plus Pro Motion.

The fact that Apple don’t have it in all their phones in 2023, and most possibly 2024 it’s just ridiculous, especially when the iPhones cost so much as they do now.

But if I know Apple right, there is gonna be a 15 Plus with 60Hz screen in 2024🤣

If the iPhone 15 has a dynamic island and the same main camera from the iPhone 14 Pro I could see a serious bump in sales. The 48MP camera with 2X sensor cropping is one of the main reasons why I bought the 14 Pro. I see no reason why they couldn’t fit that into the standard iPhone 15. Apple really can’t afford an another flop two years in a row. I expect the standard 15 will be a huge improvement. It has to be.

Apple already called it “Pro” motion, thus it only on the Pro models of iPad, MacBook, and iPhone. If Apple put it in the regular model, it will betray their own branding. So I doubt we will see the regular iPhone having Pro-motion.

One possibility is to use 90Hz and call it by another name. But Pro-motion will only be Pro only feature.

No way am I buying this! Steve Jobs will have to pry my Lightning connectors from my cold, dead hands! Shameful of Apple to give in to such tyranny from the EU.
Shameful of Apple to sell you a really expensive phone so you can have the privilege to buy expensive and fragile accessories. Glad this is going to change.

Apple has a very long and well documented history of almost meaningless branding. Just to mention a couple recent cases, their Max CPU isn’t the maximum of its generation (if you buy a Mac Studio, it’s the minimum configuration), and the Pro CPU is in the Mac Mini now and not just in Pro models.
High refresh rate will probably, sooner or later, end up in lower-end phones.

Thanks for explaining this.
I actually didn’t know that Pro Motion was a Pro only feature, I only assumed that’s the Apple way to name things🙂

So we can hope for a 90 Hz or maybe another name from Apple🙂

The iPhone on the left looks better to me. Why does the pill have to come further down into the screen to give me a useless strip of screen at the top, when it could go all the way to the top and give me more screen space?
BEcause then it would be called "A notch"

Still waiting to get wow‘ed (is that a word) to have a reason to upgrade from my iPhone 12 Pro Max but at this point I don’t mind, saves me money haha. The bigger the gap between iPhone purchases, the better the upgrade will feel eventually

The great thing about USB-C is that if you only bought a new iPhone every year from the 1st generation, you won't have a charging brick that works with it as the new included cable with be C->C, and Apple never included a USB-C charging brick in an iPhone package.

I thought only the pros have the slimmer bezels, wouldn’t make sense that the 15 is old bezels and plus is same as pros
from thursday leaks, same bezels on 15 pro (red) and 15 (blue)

It is unfortunate that Apple has made the decision to go forward with the dynamic island on more models, because that moves it into the area where main content like video will be impaired, whereas on the 13 series they had a great relatively small notch that took away less valuable top bar space, the same way it works on Macbooks.

I do understand that the dynamic island was quite well received, but I expect as it keeps trickling down soon Apple won't offer a model without it anymore. And that's the problem with the Apple way of doing things, I always told the notch haters that it's a good thing to have more usable display space no matter how silly it might look, and they can take it or leave it. Unfortunately now I am in their boat...

Still not offering at least a 90Hz panel is something else as well. At this point any iPhone including the SE should have that feature no questions asked. (But then it comes as no surprise, only Apple has a modern 2022 phone that is a worse value than its own two years older iPhone 12.)

Apple is starving off the entry level SE, the SE is trash and was obviously designed that way to make anyone who can afford it spend a couple hundred bucks extra on an iPhone that's actually from this decade, and to get everyone else they can into the Apple ecosystem no matter how crappy the hardware is. Really nobody is excited to buy a SE, it looks like it came straight out of a museum and the hardware inside is nothing to write home about either.

Instead of releasing another boring non-pro iPhone that is going to be worse than a two generations old 13 Pro, they should just release a SE phone that is based on the Mini and give customers a better entry into the Apple and iPhone ecosystem.

They could drop the Mini pricing another 100 bucks, relabel it SE and not change a single thing about the hardware, and it would still end up being the most impactful iPhone lineup change of the recent years. Who wants to buy an iPhone 15, or iPhone 15 Plus with mediocre hardware for 800 bucks instead of a 13 Pro for around 850 new or under 800 in the Apple certified refurbished store?

Apple needs to focus on simplifying the iPhone line up. It’s getting too confusing 😭🤪
I think they need to rethink the strategy and refocus, as you said.

Personally I would make the distinction between the SE and iPhone line crystal clear by retaining the home button design for the SE. They could, and I would argue should, get rid of the HEAVY stainless iPhone and give the regular aluminium iPhone three rear cameras.

I would offer the SE in SE first generation design at 4" and 5" sizes, and I would offer the tri-camera iPhone in four sizes (5" mini, 5.6" iPhone, 6.2" Plus and 6.8" Max) and get rid of numbered marketing and stop selling all other iPhones. So there would be two distinct iPhone lines: iPhone SE (budget phones; in two sizes) and iPhone (premium phones; in four sizes).

Clear and simple with a size of phone for everyone. I would give all six iPhones the very same chip to make app and game development as easy as possible and start both lines (including SE) at 128 GB storage.

P.S. I believe the mini at 5.4" is misnamed and I've seen twice now where women have been surprised by how physically large the 'mini' is ("It's not actually mini", one commented. "I see what you mean about the size now", said the other. "It's not actually that small"). I believe at a slightly larger size of 5.6" it would be a nice size phone for many people. And Apple could make the smaller phones progressively thicker to add battery life to them. And of course, the premium 5.6" iPhone should have feature parity with the Max iPhone—albeit it would still be eclipsed on battery life, because physics. But cameras across the premium line should all be the same.

USB-C and Qi2 on all, of course.

Can we just agree there is little to be excited about? Non folding, lacking any holographic projection this phone is so basic. Wake me up when Apple does something innovative.
No, but we can agree that people who are excited about foldable phones have really bad taste.

I don't know. I used foldable 3G "FOMA" feature phones in Japan right up until the day I bought my first iPhone...
And while that was undoubtedly revolutionary, there was absolutely a compromise...
It was huge compared to the phones I had used before... And just keeps on getting larger every fricking generation.

And it's got to be getting hard for those hipster models appearing in Apple adverts in ankle-length chinos to stuff one in their front pocket without the inability to sit down being misconstrued by their metrosexual mates at the cultural awareness fund raising pool party.

So conversely I can see the merits to the Apple target demographic of having a phone shrink to half the size it was in your hand.
