Like four models are confusing? who gets confused by 4 models and how did such an individual earn enough money to buy iphone?;)
Maybe people who don’t discuss Apple products on forums and maybe want what they think is latest model but aren’t that knowledgeable on specs and features. Also if you include the previous phones 📱 from the year before that’s more than 4 models.

Or the tyranny of Congress at some later point ?

Apple needs to teach these dictatorial countries an important lesson by pulling out of markets which require this nonsense. I'm sure the grey market for Lightning connector phones from more enlightened countries would take care of the demand.

If your phone has a USB-C connector, you might as well just get an Android.

That’s gonna be a very popular phone. It has all the right things outside of ProMotion, which is should have. My dad was about to pull the trigger on the 14 Plus, but I’m gonna have him hold out for this.

Yeah. 99.999% or more of all iPhone owners aren’t members here and they don’t give a crap about such details as we do, so yeah, 4 models can easily become confusing.

Regular, Big, Fancy Regular, and Fancy Big. If you want the better camera get one of the fancy phones.

Not confusing at all.

It will also include a Lightning port instead of a USB-C port, another change that Apple is making to all iPhone 15 devices.

Praise Dilaudid! Apple has finally seen the light (no pun intended) and will maintain the superior Lightning connector. The EU will just have to deal with it!

@GuruZac Thank you! It's confusing for regular consumers. Explain which iPhone is the best for them to the parents. They will be confused. The only thing that is going to attract is which one is the cheapest model.

Too confusing? They only have 4x Model types. The rest are different SKU configurations. How much simpler would you like 🤣🤣🤣
I miss the old iPhone lineup. Simpler times! Less is more.

Less aint more. Saturated market, more models allow apple wider proce range and offer for briader set of people. And again, if you are lost cause 4 models, go visit apple store or APR and ask for advice. Limiting choice to those who can get info because of those lazy to make basic research is bad practice, always.

Yeah, that’s really clarified all the specs and features to someone who’s not bought an iPhone in the few years and is not sure about there next purchase….

Three-phase 230 V offers much lighter transformers and cabling, and there is no difference in safety.
All things being equal a lower voltage is safer for the human body than a higher voltage. On 120V less current will flow through your body. However, lower voltage generates more heat to deliver the same power and decreases safety due to components you mentioned like cabling heating up more.

There is always the discounted 13 Pro or even 13 Pro Max, the 15 Plus comes with yet another cheap display panel. I would not buy any smartphone without a LTPO panel nowadays and the only way to get that in an iPhone is with the Pro models. Apple of course doesn't inform customers about this and doesn't list it in the specs either, instead throwing around meaningless words like liquid retina made up by their marketing department.

I doubt apple will bring the dynamic island to regular iPhones after one year
Why?
It’s kind of been their strategy over the last several years.
Introduce massive exclusive feature for the most expensive phone (Siri, Face ID, OLED, camera improvements) and then spend the next year or two trickling the most flashy features down to the standard iPhone line.
And the DI is probably quite cheep and easy for them to add because it’s like 90% software.

The great thing about USB-C is that if you only bought a new iPhone every year from the 1st generation, you won't have a charging brick that works with it as the new included cable with be C->C, and Apple never included a USB-C charging brick in an iPhone package.
the 11Pro and Pro Max came with an 18W USB-C brick in the box.

The island is the best Apple can do?. It’s location is terrible!, it gets so much in the content in videos and even maaany apps!. It is a if that whole section of the phone is unusable! And there so few info in that area.

It doesn't help you because you know and care about specs, but for someone who doesn't pay attention to specs and is just getting a phone, the things which matter are size/weight, cameras, and to a lesser degree notch vs island. They wont notice the processor differences and all the 14s have the same 6GB RAM. I suppose the fact that the Pros are slightly brighter might affect someone who uses it outside a lot, but it's really not a big difference.

Specs are irrelevant to people who want a phone, not a pocket PC; so it really is just size/weight and regular vs fancy.

With the majority of video content, the DI only intrudes if you force fit to width, which crops the top and bottom. And if you are voluntarily cropping the top and bottom, you probably shouldn't complain about the DI hiding a bit of one side. A lot of apps do not push content like text to the far edge of the screen.

Then it would be called a big forehead. Many Android phones had/still have foreheads.

I don’t think so. Given how small the current pill is, they could have slot it in.

In any case I don’t think the best design was to eliminate more usable screen space in favor of a small slit of screen permanently wasted at the top.

Some people will notice the cheap 60Hz panels when they compare that with a Pro iPhone side by side when choosing in a store. Otherwise, you are unfortunately correct, hence why Apple can sell 899usd phones in 2023 that still come with non-LTPO panels. The profit margin for these must be quite crazy. At least the Plus didn't sell well and deservedly so, at that price point it's a phone nobody asked for.

I haven't heard anything to the contrary on the usual rumour jungle drums, and I know Apple use it as one of the features to differentiate between standard and pro models, but 60Hz in 2023 on what will be a near on £1000 phone! Come on!

Probably not a popular opinion but......Apple (IMO) is becoming stale? Boring? It just seems like these "upgrades" are so incremental and unexciting. Woo hoo thinner bezels that unless youre trying hard to see arent that noticeable, usb C after how many years of it being the standard, the same ugly camera bump but yay itll be the tiniest bit thinner. Ive been an iphone user almost entirely since the first iphone but i've become bored with them since around the last few years/launches. I really have been contemplating switching over to samsung when this installment plan is finished...

Until that part I agreed with everything, but I don't see how switching to worse hardware and especially one of the worst Android experience with an extremely cluttered UI and a lot of preinstalled apps that can't ever be removed is going to help? If other manufacturers are improving a lot from one generation to the next it just means they haven't reached the Apple level yet. And I say that as someone who primarily uses Pixel phones. The Pro iPhones leave little to be desired as long as you are happy with iOS and Samsung isn't going to be doing anything better. Especially considering Samsung is now almost as pricey as Apple - if I am going to spend quadruple digits worth of money I might as well go with Apple.

And that's only Model/Physical Size. Even before including carriers, you have 62 choices across 14 with color and capacity.
