The black looks really nice, just wish they would get rid of the bezel and make it smaller :(

Yeah, these bezels look way too large for a 4.7" 2014/2015 phone. The dimensions are almost the same as the HTC One of 2013 and people were already complaining back then how large the bezels were. I do like the back, but the size has to go down. Let's just hope these dummy makers are just playing the guessing game :)

I'm waiting for some real hardware leaks! Everybody is making the Tim Cook "double down on secrecy" joke, but it seems this year it's working. There is still no real back casing or front panel leak to be seen.

Maybe for you, but many others beg to differ. Ultimately Apple will sell the format which premium consumers will buy the most: given the market trends today it's clear it will require a >4" screen.

Precisely.. the term "phablet" is stupid and people will look back and laugh at the term in the future anyhow. The reason the phones were stuck at 3-4 inches for so long was lack of cost effective, technology practicality reasons... not consumer driven. There will be a sweet spot found, and who knows what that is ... and the "norm" won't stay at the 4 inch, that'll become the "mini" because most people want a larger screen.

But don't get me wrong, if they don't increase the actual usability of the new real estate, I'll be first to grab my pitch fork.

Improvements

All I want

1) Larger Screen
2) Better Camera that actually ZOOMS
3) Better battery life - my 4s Goes dead in 2 hours whenever I start using the camera..

And you are reading this while you are outside cycling in the countryside I bet? :D

I'm not cycling but I am actually outside, yes.

This comment is precisely why the rest of the world is laughing as they pass us by economically. Lazy American\western mentality that things only should happen during the week. You do realize that in many countries, the "work week" is 6 days... and in most countries, manufacturing is 24\7\365.... just because you work half as much (reason why American and European productivity is so low) as many countries, the news and flow of information on the internet won't stop for you to sit. I just read

I didn't quite understand that. Read it and see if you understand. Oh, and it's just the fact it's another mockup we all know is rubbish.

You know what I would LOVE to see, and what would tell everyone the facts at a glance and not just fanboi love for what's on offer now.

Have Apple make a 4" a 4.7" and a 5.5" iPhone.
Put them side by side on store. Same price and see which one people go for.

Quickest way to prove the "No one wants a phone larger than the current 4" size" people wrong. :D

We sure are getting a lot of mockups and renders and cases, etc. for a phone that isn't supposed to be out for another 5 months... What is going on here? I've never seen leaks this bad before. Is Apple dropping the ball? Is everyone at the factories too excited about a new redesign that they're just leaking it as fast as possible?

They're not going to raise the price of the base model so there is no unnecessary extra cost for you.

Hopefully they don't raise the cost of the base model. Rumor has said that Apple wants to raise it by $100, I'm guessing based on the larger size/production cost of this new phone. Has that rumor been squashed, or are we just assuming carriers won't go for it?

Sorry some of us want to enjoy our lives instead of working 6 days a week -__- Personally I want my short and hurried life to be more about family and friends and enjoying myself than I want it to be about working at a job I most likely don't enjoy.

Apple rumors itself is an industry, so there are many fake "leaks" with the only purpose to generate web traffic, ads revenue, etc.
I doubt Apple will send manufacturers the renders of the case so much earlier to the the product release. Full production starts 45 days before release of the product and most of the markets get shipping directly from the factory itself. The manufacturer would get actual renders 90 days before release to fine tune the cutting and assembely machines. The few units produced for testing purpose are almost impossible to leak because the control is high. What we get five months before release is not leak but a speculation except if does come directly from Cupertino. This may be a render of any other phone out there. China itself has hundreds of phone manufacturers that are unknown for us and all they are capable of making those renders and plans and make it public and make some profit out of it.

Maybe those antennae will be made with liquid metal (hopefully matching the color of the phone itself).

Agree about the two-tone. I hope that is either the work of an wannabe designer's over imagination or else there is a GOOD reason it must be two tone (like for a technical reason). Otherwise it just looks like Apple is trying too hard. Regardless, it will be covered up in a case so I won't have to look at it but it will mar Apple's reputation for timeless design of its flagship phone.

2 and 3 are not all that compatible b/c you'd need a moving lens which kills even big SLR batteries fast. The iPhone already supports digital zoom, so I assume you mean optical zoom. Optical zoom would also require a larger mechanism meaning thicker case. That's off the table at Cupertino I would think.

But your 4s sounds like it needs a new battery or you need a real camera if you are taking that many pics you can kill your battery so quickly.

Apple is required to do what it think will give it the most profits and continue to produce amazing products. The market will buy whatever Apple tells them to buy.

You seriously think market trends = Profits for Apple? That's not entirely true. Apple surely use the trends in their product development but they certainly don't blindly follow the trends.

Proof is people thought they wanted netbooks but Apple made the iPad. People really wanted a great portable device and Apple delivered.
People think a phablet is the perfect thing for them. And I am sure Apple will release a device for a new iPhone that is better than what the large numbers of sheep think is the best.

Current trends is where the puck currently is. And Apple has said many times they aim for where the puck will be in the near future. That's obvious cause you need to sim for when the product is released year or years after you start development. Developing a phone for example for 2014 trends is pointless as by the time it's ready for sale in 2015 or 2016 (as an example) the phone will be 1-2 years out of date with current trends.

The TLDR is this:
Apple will make a great iPhone 6. We have zero concrete proof (only wild rumours) at the moment to know if the soon to be released phone will be phone sized or phablet sized. Some people want an Apple phablet. And some want an Apple phone.

I personally am in the "I want an Apple phone and not an Apple phablet made" camp.

Wrong.. for example the iPhone 5 rear shell leaked on the 29th of May and it was the real one. https://www.macrumors.com/2012/05/2...th-sides-for-next-generation-iphone-surfaces/ ;)
You're right with the production time frames and all the other manufacturers in China but anyway the real one will be leaked in 1 month at the latest.
I think it leaked already.. this is probably the real iPhone 6 (has the same antenna design, not just bands):

Samsung will have time to copy it and release a copycat phone before the 6 is released.

Maybe this is a dummy phone to fool the copycats. B

You got that backwards my friend. The Samsung S3 had a 4.8" 1280x720p display; back in 2012. It appears that Apple is the one who is copying this time around; 2 years later. So please don't get it twisted.
Apple is starting to realize that small phones are not selling like they use to. I give them that much credit but the damage is already done.

Ok well here is something that WILL happen.

If There are Mockups getting too much liked and expected. And/or Features that are expected too much.

Apple will leak to kill them off before the launch.

Unofficially or course.

There is no way Apple, or most GIANT companies would want to do a worldwide launch of a new product and know it's going to be a major disappointment to everyone viewing.

Either a new feature will be quashed a week or two before launch (unofficial leak) so we all have time to accept this item s not going to be included.

Or there will be some new news quashing the design of current mockups.

If this does not happen, and we are sill looking at those nice thin rounded edge deep grey mockups, right up until launch day.
You can guarantee either that's is pretty much what they will look like, or the real think will look even better.

Apple are not going to stand on stage, and show off something much worse than what they know millions of people are expecting.

They will unofficially leak like crazy to kill mass expectations.

So Apple's going back to black (or dark gray) after they abandoned it with the 5S? And the chamfers they just brought to the iPad Air are now being abandoned on the iPhone? Current iPhone has speaker holes on both sides of lightening port. This leak does not. Odd.

Can someone proficient in math, tell me if this narrowish proportion is similar to the current iPhone 5s?

My guess is Apple feels a narrow phone still allows for one hand operation and that many modern websites are now viewed/designed by scrolling up and down (one huge long page vs multiple pages).

Turning the phone horizontally would allow a greater optimum viewing of movies (16:9 vs 16:10)

Perhaps the iPad's 4:3 ratio is because it mimicks a book or magazine metaphor. Although it's debatable if the majority of users use it as an e-reader.

How are you expecting the bezels to shrink with the home button? I can pretty much guarantee Apple isn't going to release a phone with asymmetrical bezels.

Apple is required to do what it think will give it the most profits and continue to produce amazing products. The market will buy whatever Apple tells them to buy.

The market will buy what consumers decide to buy, not what Apple "tells" (as millions of non-Apple consumers prove).

You seriously think market trends = Profits for Apple? That's not entirely true. Apple surely use the trends in their product development but they certainly don't blindly follow the trends.

Apple did need and always will need to adapt to consumer demands since their vision is not always correct or the best: e.g. the original iPhone didn't have an App Store by design, since Jobs did believe that web applications and HTML5 would have been enough. They did adapt to consumer's desires and the end result was a huge success.

And how do you figure out how the puck will be in the near future? Trying to understand current trends' driving forces and trying to extrapolate them is a big part of that.

When all you have to worry about in your life is the contents of an empty fake and pointless rendering of a case for a forthcoming phone which won't be out for another 5 months yet...it's time to say to yourself "Life's been good to me".

Now. Get outside. Enjoy the world. And come back in September.

It (whisper it) doesn't REALLY matter.
