Let the snarky comments begin, just like original AirPods.

It will likely be a popular product if it works as designed.

AirPods were released only three months after they were announced, and were priced competitively.

AirPower was announced with a TON of hype almost 18 months ago.

Based on Apple's pricing of their own USB-C chargers, this thing will be expensive as hell. All the while, everyone who purchased an iPhone 8, 8+, X, Xr, Xs, and Xs Max have been buying up $15 Qi chargers on Amazon this entire time.

AirPower will never be in the same league as AirPods. My opinion is not snarky; it's a harsh lesson for Apple.

This ship sailed away long ago and Apple missed the boat.

Does anyone want this?

Even "Talosive Tech" a self confessed "Apple Sheep" says he does not want this.

He says wireless charging needs to be that the phone/watch is upright so you can see it.
Like a night stand or so that face-ID works.

None of this works with the devices lying flat.

This is dead and pointless.

However, the fact that this "IS" Form Over Function, means I'm sure Apple will continue with it regardless of what anyone else thinks.

:)

Agreed. Case-in-point: my RavPower wireless charger stopped working a little while back, but I STILL stand my phone in it on my desk, even though it isn't charging.

I just have an Anker wireless charging pad and a pre-owned Apple Watch donut charger. I can't see the point of this given the expected price and limitation with certain band types with the watch.

Can’t fathom why this took so long?! So the max battery case....will that be our before the next phone is released?

He is flat out wrong then. If I'm in bed my phone is most likely in do not disturb mode, I do not need to see the screen. If I'm at my desk I don't need to see the phone screen, I have the computer screen in front of me. Likewise my watch, it charges when I'm asleep, I do not need to see the screen at all. Besides which, I can always just look at the damn thing on the desk and still see the screen if I absolutely need to.

You’re misremembering how much AirPods were criticized at $159.

You’re also overestimating the “hype” around AirPower. They announced it for 2018 and look like they’ll miss that deadline by about a month. There was no over the top “hype” around AirPower except what you’ve built up in your own mind.

Lastly, there aren’t a ton of products that will do what AirPower is supposed to do.

Huh. So it was delayed. According to apple defenders, this was a physics problem that they couldn’t ever overcome. Evidently not true if it’s coming. Apple missed the mark.

Finally, this will remove so much clutter from my nightstand. I know what I'll be using my tax return on, if we even get it in the near future with what's going on now lol.

I don’t understand why people - mainly tech YouTubers - have been getting so worked up about AirPower. If it’s not been ready, it’s not been ready, just be patient not as if you can’t charge your phone a million other ways. Although I guess exploding AirPowers would have been good for their viewing figures.

I would be interested as long as it's not over $100. But we all know this thing will be priced well above that.
The problem with the consumer pricing products is that they don’t know what they’re talking about. If this works like they’ve lead on $100 is cheap as ****.

I do. I don’t follow other people’s opinions. Believe it or not I can put my phone down and not use it. Upright stands are pointless for me.

This really isn’t targeted at someone who only has a phone. It’s best used by someone who uses a range of Apple products which charge wirelessly. I can easily see coming home, laying my phone on the mat, taking off my watch, and pulling my AirPods case out of my pocket, and laying them all on the mat, then heading for the shower. They may get moved around during the night, but by then they may all be fully charged. I can see having one at work and home. Maybe even having one in the car. In addition, I’d have a stand for the phone where I needed that, a stand on my night table for the watch. AirPods don’t need anything.

Future applications might include the Apple remote, Mouse, trackpad, and any other devices that currently charge by Lightning.

Something like this is never too late to market. Never mind that most of the public doesn’t even know about this product, or that Apple missed its shipping window. And a large number of Apple customers are still using phones that do not have wireless charging.
This is accurate. I went on a trip and didn’t want to pack a lot of things. I was using one cable and one brick for my iPad, Apple Watch and iPhone. If i can just take one puck and cable I would be happy. Now we just need iPad to support wireless charging.

What’s the big deal, it’s a wireless charger. I guess I never paid much attention to the AirPower articles before because I assumed it was some kind of miraculous “true” wireless charging the way people go on about it.

I'm still interested in AirPower. I know its mostly wishful thinking, but I'm hoping they would lower the price for this to make it more competitive considering there are lots of cheaper alternatives already available. In addition, since it has been delayed for so long, I'm hoping they would make this really good (ie: thin and without all the heat issues just like the way they demoed it).

Airpower being flat is an issue for folks who want to be able to use their phone while charging. That is a fair assessment. However, being in the tech world myself, I've been consciously reducing my screen time. In addition, having the Apple Watch means I can check messages and notifications without having to reach for the phone.

This means if I want to pick up the phone, it's because I want to use it. And in this case, I would prefer to be holding onto it rather than leaning forward to tap on the phone resting on a stand. Having a flat surface for charging saves space. My desk has very limited space and having it flat means I can slide it under my Macbook Pro that's sitting on a stand at the moment. I hope they work out the issues related to charging the Apple Watch as well.

If they do it right and the price is right, this product will still have value.

I like my $12 cheap Amazon upright wireless charger so I can see my phone at night for the clock. AirPods are over 2 years old now and the battery life sucks so no sense in investing in the wireless charging case. Moved on to different earphones. Besides, you know it's going to be priced way more than it's worth. I like Apple stuff but they just push the pricing too far.
