Amazing! I have been waiting for this for almost 1.5 years. It's going to revolutionize the way people charge devices, this is the only standard-compliant charger on the market that can charge all your Apple devices at the same time.

I'm not sure what the hate here is about, yes the product was delayed but the important thing is that they got it right. Better to ship late than to ship a bad product.

Not at the price we think it's going to be it won't......plenty of competition at much lower cost. Timmy still can't figure out that the days of charging what he wants are over.
You say that without even knowing the price or final functionality?

The problem is tons of others work as designed already... and guaranteed to be way cheaper. I don't get what the hype was about to begin with though. It's a stupid mat to lay your phone on to charge. Nothing they can do with it is going to blow anyone away.
Link me to a mat that does the same thing AirPower is supposed to do. For one thing, it’s going to have some software built in to recognize devices.

You're assuming they got it right and it won't have issues or be a bad product... ok, but just remember pretty much every new product Apple has shipped in the past few years has had it's share of problems.

I don’t know, they come apart near the plastic end piece on all lightning cables. The ones in my house, office and car (for CarPlay) all need replaced once a year. And I only buy them from Apple.
LOL, dude. Have you ever heard of Monoprice? www.monoprice.com
Their cables are the bee's knees. MFI, < 1/3 of Apple's retail, up to 6ft long, and warrantied for life. Be an educated consumer, dude.

Does anyone want this?

Even "Talosive Tech" a self confessed "Apple Sheep" says he does not want this.

He says wireless charging needs to be that the phone/watch is upright so you can see it.
Like a night stand or so that face-ID works.

None of this works with the devices lying flat.

This is dead and pointless.

However, the fact that this "IS" Form Over Function, means I'm sure Apple will continue with it regardless of what anyone else thinks.

:)
I have no interest in charging my phone/watch upright. The Airpower will be perfect for my use.

Define “reasonably priced”.

I remember lots of people here criticising the airpods for being “overpriced” when it was announced, and claiming how nobody would buy it when they could get much cheaper Bluetooth earbuds in convenience stores.

Fast forward two years later, the airpods still hasn’t been updated, it hasn’t received a price cut, and guess which is the one product Apple is having problems keeping sufficient stock of in their stores?
yeahhhhh but that was AirPods. A real solution to the wireless problem and the lack of headphone jack. Its a really amazing product that led the truly wireless headphone revolution.

Airpower? I have to look through pages and pages of comments to find a single person excited for this product. That just seems strange to me. I'll probably get it if it works well, but I'm not entirely sure it's gonna be a runway success like AirPods were. If it's $150 or under, I see it being something that catches steam over time (as more people upgrade their phones) but if its $200...I just don't know if people will see the utility in something like it

For the record: i'm looking forward to airpower. But it sounds like I'm one of the few. Whereas AirPods were something that were hyped for quite awhile and people were really looking forward to

Can you imagine if they decide not to include the fast charge adapter or if it doesn't support fast charge at all and leaving that for 2nd Gen or AirPower Pro?.

I could see myself getting this in the used market 1-2 years after it officially releases. Or, if it's priced well under $100 (lol).

I am unlikely have have AirPods until (if ever) they revamp them and they'd don't fall out after 1( minutes of running for me). For my watch I have a small naked dock that uses the original cable; $6. For my iPhone I have a Qi charger plate that was around $20.

Certainly a cool all in one pad, but likely won't be worth the price of admission for me. Especially for how moderately it would improve my life.

Wireless charging is slow so not worth it
I think this depends on a variety of factors. The desk job was mentioned. If I see value in just setting my phone down on the nightstand too. It will be there at least 5-6 hours; plenty of time to charge even if the phone is dead. It eliminates wear and tear in both the port and the cable. And is one less thing for my one years old to try and grab and out in his mouth.

I agree with you that it's much slower than plugging in. As such, it's certainly not meant to satisfy the needs of someone needing to rapidly add some usage time to their device.

I've seen a few posts that have asked if there are even people who would buy this - thought I would share why I, at least, am very excited if they do finally release it. It actually does solve a problem for me.

I travel frequently with work, and having the lightest, least load I can carry with me helps hugely. (Hence why the MacBook for all its lack of power is my favourite Apple product ever). I've been able to reduce this as much as I possibly can, but still need to carry several chargers no matter what. (At least one lightning for iPhone, AirPods - one Apple Watch, and USB-C for the MacBook, although I usually carry a slim QI charger because I just find it so much more convenient than anything. Getting iPhone's on USB-C would make me happy beyond belief! I would buy a USB-C model AirPower over lightning anyway, but I'm not holding out hope, maybe next year)

Therefore, having one, very slim device that could charge three of my devices would be great and hugely simplify my travel bag. I've looked at things like the SliceCharge, but the integrated (and short) cable is a little bit of a concern for me. Hotel rooms and well placed power sockets are just a nightmare, at least here in the UK.

Of course - price! Until I know that, can't say if I would get it or not. But I want to!

Quick question and not trolling here: why is having the "lightest load" so important? Is one extra pound a big deal for a grown man? I imagine you exercise and would find the ability to carry more a useful trait. We're talking about ounces here, not concrete bricks. I travel often and care about simplifying so I don't lose or forget things, but I don't count ounces.

Come to New York City. Plenty of AirPods in stock here.

What’s all this fuss about a wireless charger?

It's a wireless charger that can charge multiple Apple - and maybe other manufacturers- items at the same time, and without needing the items placed on a specific part of the mat to be charged.

There has been multi-item charging mats for some time, but if you don't place your phone in the area marked for a phone it won't charge, and the same with a watch or other Qi compatible devices. You have a specific area for each thing it can charge and you have to put that device in the proper area.

Apples Airpower is supposed to charge multiple devices without you needing to place an item in a specific area. I THINK, but I don't know for certain, that you can charge multiples of the same item. In other words 2 iphones or 2 watches etc, which the current multi charge pads cannot do. They can only charge an item placed in the part of the pad that is specifically marked for that device. I don't know the limitions- Can it charge an iPad and a iphone and Airpods and a watch? That may be too much power for the unit to handle. Or maybe it can handle all of those things at once.

The biggest improvement is not needing to put a device in a limited area for that device to be charged. It just needs to be on the mat. I keep seeing where people are saying that is easy and they don't understand why there is a delay. If it was easy then someone would already have one out, and nobody else does. Android devices could benefit from a device like this as well, so if it was simple -and cheap- then a manufacturer would be making them.

Apple gets away with having more expensive items, and this may be the ultimate reason no one else has bothered trying to make a device like this. They may not think the market justifies the development cost. There are probably other design considerations as well: The more items you place on a AirPower mat the slower all items will charge. Maybe it will be configured to charge the most depleted item first, I don't know.

Missed sale, Apple. Last year I bought a charger made by Tumi, that company that specializes in luggage and bags.

And I spent the money I'd set aside for a new Apple Airport router on a beautiful backpack. Sad.

Sorry, that's completely false. I can't recall a single REAL problem encountered by REAL users. I do recall the anti-Apple media getting worked up over nothing (as they did before with "antenna gate", "ipad gate", now "400 micron gate"). The biggest problem I have had with Apple of the past ~year is that they didn't ship AirPower for more than a year after announcement! Well now they fixed that problem.

Are you completely unaware of the iPhone 6 touch disease that was indeed a real issue? Or how about the fact that people are actually getting bent iPads out of the box (and not some small barely noticeable bend) and being told at the apple store that they won’t cover it? Or how about the MacBook keyboards?

I’m all for apple, but my god do you have to be a blind fanboy to deny apple has issues like any other company.

I was just looking on amazon for something that could hold my keys and wallet while charging my AirPods. Can’t find anything that does that. I don’t want a phone charger or Apple Watch charger. I want the watch and phone next to my bed and the other three items by my front door. I just want a plate that holds those three items.

Don’t forget GPUs that get so hot the pins come out of the board. Customers shouldn’t have to bake their iMac to get them working again.

Did apple claim they invented the MP3 player, cell phone, tablet, Bluetooth headphones, nfc pay, fingerprint reader, premium speaker, computer and what else? Apple is not going to claim they invented the Qi charger.
You should be carefull with that aurguement because all you're saying is Apple invented ****-all.

If you want to fast charge, plug in the device. A “fast’ wireless charge isn’t very fast. The advantage of wireless is you can just leave it on the mat and not have to fiddle with plugs, and it will charge the whole time you aren’t actively using the devices in-hand.

Backpacks make terrible routers.
