What twisted logic allows you to infer that it will be riddled with issues because it was delayed?

Because they couldn’t make it work, that’s why and it’s not like Apple isn’t known for releasing devices with issues... I can think of several.

Yeah, I can also say that it was delayed because Apple took the time to make it work.

Hmm the same philosophy must apply to why they took so long to change the iPads design to the new iPad Pro, complete with bent frame feature... I really don’t share your enthusiasm I’m afraid and predict this device will have problems.

It’s such a lazy design as well. It should have been aluminium with curved edges like the iPad Pro but with a soft material over the top.

This just looks unfinished. Apple products are supposed to be premium and yet this is the most boring design of any wireless charging mats I’ve seen.

What records were set? You take vague proclamations of "best selling" from a company who refuses to break out the numbers of the product that makes up the large bulk of their business.

You are talking about the only company that until last quarter actually declared those numbers? Talk about ways to look biased... Trust me, anyone that bought Apple made a lot of money, and I would be glad to take a bet on not seeing the stock getting to 230 again, even in the next 12 to 18 months. 1k bet sounds okay? :)

You plug the mat in once (after you buy it) and then you never have to deal with any cables again.

That’s not really nearly just the same as plugging and unplugging your phone every day for the next five or ten years.
And "there's the rub".

Based on comments in another thread, Apple's Lightning charging cables can only last a year of steady use (and this defended by others). That is a steady stream of repurchasing income they need to account for in the AirPower price :)

This will be a successful product if they...
  1. Introduce AirPower colors.
  2. Offer three AirPower sizes.
  3. Allow for personalized, self-applied, AirPower graphics.
  4. Features an optional AirPower hand-warmer/foot massager option.
  5. AirPower can be used as a heart defibrillator.
  6. Airpower to receive ultra low frequency ground wave Alert signals from Area 51

Wireless charging is just slow overall.

Perhaps part of the reason for the delay was finding a way to implement faster wireless charging on iPhones. Even if it is proprietary and not a normal standard, I'm thinking people would still buy it.

I probably would.

The criticisms regarding not having the iPhone and Watch charge in an upright position, so that you can just glance over and see?

For the most part, I think that criticism is well founded. But it's just a choice, a choice Apple had to make and a choice the consumer now has to make.

I'd probably still buy one, and it'll probably be the library charger, not the one at the nightstand.

This fits my needs...

We have not seen the actual production design.

Big difference between the utility of both

It’s too early to determine the ‘utility’ of a product that you haven’t even used at all. By the way, that’s exacly what people said when Apple announced AirPods. It’s only when AirPods have already become the most popular wireless earphones of all time and a lot of people have praised how good they are that you call them ‘useful’.

...Cables shouldn't fray after 12 months. The old style landline phones with coiled cable to the handset. These worked for life of phone and never frayed and got a lot more tugging and pulling multiple times a day.
Good point. Really good point.

Not only were old landline cables indestructible, you could drop old cellphones from the 1990’s - 2000’s on concrete and they would bounce. Nobody’s heart raced: You just picked it up, apologized to the caller, smiled, and kept right on talking.

I like my iPhone. Just wish it was sturdier.

I’m happy with slight fragility and not needing to carry a brick.

You should be carefull with that aurguement because all you're saying is Apple invented ****-all.
No. I'm saying apple invented the iphone, ipod, airpods, ipad, etc. Just like Samsung invented the Note and Galaxy...etc.

Correct. Steve Jobs just barefaced lied.
Correct. And he was partially telling the truth as well.

Does anyone want this?

Even "Talosive Tech" a self confessed "Apple Sheep" says he does not want this.

He says wireless charging needs to be that the phone/watch is upright so you can see it.
Like a night stand or so that face-ID works.

None of this works with the devices lying flat.

This is dead and pointless.

However, the fact that this "IS" Form Over Function, means I'm sure Apple will continue with it regardless of what anyone else thinks.
I have 3 wireless chargers around my house. They all have the phone sitting upright so you can see it and any notifications that might pop up. Then I can tap my Xs Max and let FaceID unlock my phone.
I use my phone as my alarm as well...so it is easier to turn off the alarm in the morning if it is standing up instead of face down.

Is this what Apple has been reduced to? Hype about a Charger? Come on, give us something new. Nobody cares about the Charger.

It's a bigger technical deal than most people think, but it's definitely not a sexy item to push. This probably shouldn't have been on the big product announcement program at all, just released when it was ready. It is only going to sell to a subset of the Apple market and probably not at all in any other phone/smart device one. And that was true when it was announced.
