Lol Apple's software has been garbage for years. Siri still isn't "right" 10+ years later.
I wasn't suggesting the end of Apple is near. Don't know where you got that from. I was simply saying Apple is behind when it comes to AI.Yeah, the end of Apple is near. Now where have we heard that before? Oh right, forever since April 1, 1976.
I always have a good laugh with comments like these.
If you own an iPhone, you've used AI for sure but you just didn't know about it. iOS has had AI for years already.
Siri is pretty much entirely AI - although very old models.
Photos uses AI to detect people and objects, isolate the background, and with those automatic edits.
Camera uses AI a lot to process your shots.
Mail uses AI for spam - although this doesn't seem to work well at all.
Apple Card uses AI to have a clear label where you bought stuff.
Apple uses AI internally quite a lot to build Maps faster from satellite shots.
Apple Music karaoke features, like instrumental track isolation is purely AI. Lyrics features are also built with AI internally, no way Apple times those lyrics from millions of songs just by themselves.
And I could go on and on...
This is just the usual excuse for Apple. "They take their time and do it right!". It's true to a degree but people just say this to cover up for Apple being behind. I'll give it to Apple that they had an NPU in their laptops before the likes of Qualcomm/AMD and but we've never really had a proper AI use until 18.1 apparently.I think Apple is being careful by taking their time. OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft, Google, etc are all burning cash on making AI very accessible. None of them seems to have any idea how they are going to make it sustainable and make money any time soon. Nvidia are the only ones making out right now by selling the hardware to build these data centers that consume more power and water than a small city.
None of these companies have a clue how to talk about AI to consumers either. The TV spot Google is running with the Olympics of a dad asking Gemini to write a letter for his daughter to a famous Olympian is pure cringe. Going to the AI instead of encouraging your kid to use their own words/voice, or, worse, just denying them the chance to have that voice, says everything about how out of touch these tech companies are.
The truth is, the AI features that 95% of people will want are what Apple has been or will be running on device. I think Apple prefers to focus on how AI and ML make how you use/experience their products better. Everyone else’s approach seems to be to alienate everyone by constantly claiming AI is just better at everything.
Water isn’t wet tho. It only makes everything it touches wet. This is the most shocking turn of events to happen since the sun came up this morning in a blue sky over the wet water.
What if liquid water touches ice (solid water)?Water isn’t wet tho. It only makes everything it touches wet.
Having Siri for another year is frustrating. (Siri e.g. still isn't able to play my own music library on homepods, can't understand many things in german language, has bugs,....).
How can a company - this big and rich - miss this train so hard?

I will love it (and buy it), thank you........The iPhone 16 might be Apple's most boring release in history.
- Action Button.
- Slightly thinner.
- Newer processor.
- .2 inch bigger screen
And that's it folks, but Apple thinks you're going to love it.
Article claims iOS 18.1...My question is why they did an event to show us something that will only be added next year looks like they’re going to be releasing it on iOS 19.

LLM AI tech is a natural fit for improved translation. I would expect a major upgrade to the translation app next year.
"A few things" being overall stability (both are good, but Windows is better), external monitor support, external drive support, multitasking (well the latest public beta of MacOS finally brings something resembling proper window management although still not on par with Windows and Linux), proper font scaling that doesn't require changing systemwide display resolution (still to this day I can't get over this atrocious UX direction), clipboard history, and pen support. I may have missed a few things. Oh and there's WSL.I use Windows rougly the same amount of hours, and I use a M3 Max Mac. I have been using both systems for over a decade. I would definitely place Mac above W11, desipte agreeing both have pros and cons.
You cherry-picked a few things in which Windows is slightly better, while ignoring everything where macOS is head and shoulders above Windows 11.
Perhaps because that’s what most business software ran on ?You should do stand up. I worked in IT for 35 years. 99 percent of support was for Windows.
Who cares? It’s more important they get it right.
Apple Intelligence will miss its initial expected launch date to give Apple more time to fix bugs, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.

According to individuals with knowledge about Apple's plans, the company now plans to start rolling out Apple Intelligence in software updates by October, arriving several weeks after the launch of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This means that Apple Intelligence will now effectively be split out of the initial launch of the new software updates. The reason for the delay is said to be concern about the stability of Apple Intelligence features and need for developers to have sufficient testing time.
Apple Intelligence will still be made available to software developers for the first time as soon as next week with the first betas of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, which would be extremely unusual as the company does not normally release previews of follow-up software updates until the first version has been released.
Gurman notes that the new release strategy for Apple Intelligence means that the iPhone 16 lineup will likely launch without Apple Intelligence features and require a software update to obtain them at a later date. The company is now said to be aiming to have development of iOS 18.0 completed by the end of July.
Even when Apple Intelligence arrives with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, it will be missing aspects such as the overhauled version of Siri that uses on-device data to answer questions and understands what is on a user's screen. These features are expected to arrive in the first half of 2025.

It is not just Apple. They all do it and it is pathetic.
I personally want Siri but I've also disabled it because it totally sucks. When we'll finally have Apple Intelligence in French, 2026 or something with all those delays, I might re-enable it back.I'm fully aware of all the background ai, I'm referring to Siri-style and ChatGPT chat style ai.
I don't use Siri. I've had it disabled for a while now and I don't use automatic image adjustment/manipulation.
The iPhone 16 may as well be called "US Edition" as its going to have nothing exciting for anyone else. I'm on iPhone 12 and was going to upgrade to the newest this year but whats the point if I'm outside US.
NFTs and MetaVerse...We will look back and realise that waiting an extra year or so will mean little in the greater scheme of things.

Investors Are Suddenly Getting Very Concerned That AI Isn't Making Any Serious Money
An increasing number of Silicon Valley investors and Wall Street analysts are starting to ring the alarm bells over the money spent on AI.futurism.com
how many people buy games and have Day 1 patches and STILL poor playing or missing features for months? It is not just Apple. They all do it and it is pathetic.
