So change it from what it is to something it’s not? Isn’t that just the same as discontinuing it and letting consumers choose something more practical?
More like upgrading and evolving the product in to something people actually want. I don't think Apple will give up on it after one iteration after all of the R&D time and money they dumped in to it

What lesson didn’t they learn?
None yet. Those devices are not out yet.

But I am guessing that the lesson would be to stop listened to the clueless goading from the tech and wall street echo-chamber. This moronic echo-chamber is ALWAYS wrong. And They got Apple to jump to the "Apple is behind in AI" nonsense and announce a non existent "Apple Intelligence" Where not listening to the foolish goading was the better option.

No one was clamoring open source not ready for prime-time supposed "AI" but the echo-chamber.
No one is clamoring for the failed foldable but the echo-chamber.
No one is clamoring for the failed "glass-hole" glasses but the echo-chamber.

WHY.

Apple should just call it iPhone 28, iPhone 28 Air, iPhone 28 Pro, iPhone 28 Pro Max and iPhone 28 Fold. The iPhone 28 Pro and 28 Pro Max are the "all glass" models they've been working on for a while.

I was hoping they'd drop the number already like the iPhone Air. iPhone Fold or whatever will probably not have a number either. It's just silly at this point.

This isn't news. iPhones generations have always been represented using radix 9.

So if they decide to release a newer iPhone Air next year, what might they call it?
iPhone Air A20? Or iPhone Air 2026. Both would allow them to officially refer to it as just "iPhone Air".

Ever since Microsoft skipped Windows 9 and went straight from 8 to 10 Apple apparently doesn't think you can use the number nine in a product name for some reason.

we don't have any actual data about iPhone Air sales, Apple's expectations, their vision for it going forward, or what lessons they may or may not have learned

all we have is vague rumors, unreliable estimates, endless speculation, and myopic conjecture
