Report: Apple to Skip 'iPhone 19' Name for 'iPhone 20'

Nope, they are still planning a folding phone and "glass-hole" glasses. They haven't learned their lesson yet. That's coming up.
Marketing 101 — companies skip 9 because it feels too close to 10. Jumping straight to double digits makes it seem like a major upgrade, not just the next step.
Skipping 19 on the 20th anniversary and it still won’t correct the numbering. The 17 is the 19th (main line) iPhone. The XX will be the 21st. I get that maybe they want to make a big deal out of the 20th anniversary, but hopefully they dump it straight after and adopt the Model Year naming.
The excitement of waiting not knowing when or what it would be? Each release would/could be revolutionary instead of small incremental changes. It would be like going from a CRT G3 iMac to a LCD G4/G5 iMac.

Can't wait to see the Air clan share this source as confirmation that the phone is not failure. They put down every other source saying it is failing and production was cut but this random one, this they trust.
This to me seems like the obvious thing. It might even help sales to remind people how far behind they are.
Apple sure hates the number 9 for whatever reason. They should convert to simply matching the year like how Samsung is now doing.
I have my iPhone 15 Pro Max dubbed “iPhone XV”… So, yes, I will name the iPhone 20 Pro “iPhone XX”.
Although, if this is true, I’ll be upgrading a year earlier than expected.
So change it from what it is to something it’s not? Isn’t that just the same as discontinuing it and letting consumers choose something more practical?
