Their greatest new product in years. As perfect as I remember any product they have ever announced.
My first Apple Watch is Ultra 2 LTE. I am really happy with its battery life, overall functionalities. Their Watch Faces are bit lame and they should have included hypertension monitoring in this $900 smart watch. Chinese knock-offs of Ultra 2 have both Blood Gluecose and Blood Pressure monitoring in it, but the software updates are zero. The point I am making is that Ultra / Ultra 2 is near perfect smart watch for another 10 years for me. I was having Samsung Gear S3 for 7-8 years.

If Apple could have a 7-day battery life with the Ultra it would fly off the shelf.
Ultra 2 battery is not really bad compared to Samsung S6 or Galaxy Watch Ultra. It can easily come for 36-48 hours with normal use. Yes, there are many other watches that can give longer battery life.

You get so much from Garmin too - anyone who has used the web route planning funtionality (like Footpath) that they provide for free knows what I mean.

I am on my second Fenix and love it, so very much more than I ever did my AW, especially with the HRM-Pro connected.
I’ve seen enough. Apple needs to buy Garmin.

its nice just wish they made a smaller version for People of Thin Wrists

Yes! An Ultra Mini as oxymoronic as that that sounds, would make sense.

I love my Ultra 2 and it's right sized for me, however, it looks ridiculous on my wife. The irony is that she needs all of the extra battery life because she exercises daily and uses all of the tracking and metrics. I can get a couple of days from my Ultra 2. Hers is basically dead by 8pm! It is also a Series 4 Hermes - we're waiting on this years announcements to upgrade.

The SE's value proposition is off: it is not cheap enough to compete with the bottom; expensive enough people would prefer the features in the general consumer (now mid-tier) offering.

At this juncture, for many of Apple's products they offer something at a price point because the board wants to see it but it practically only exists to stair-step you up the lineup to spend as much money as possible.
Agree. If the rumors are true about the plastic case for the new SE then it'll be interesting to see what the new price point is.

20% of Watch users are scuba divers.
😄If true I hope they aren't using that Oceanic+ app. From my limited research I see it has a lot of issues. Shearwater for the win.

It will take a LOT more than what the Ultra is to ever get me back from the Garmin ecosystem

For fitness focused folks it's unmatched and the array of device options is incredible
Have been considering a Garmin. Do they have cellular versions like the Apple Watch where you can leave your phone behind? That is a killer feature I would miss changing up.

Just anecdotally, I seldom find myself talking to a group of people at a gathering these days without quite a few people wearing Apple Watches of one kind or another.

I'm one of the apparently rare people who has the SE, mainly because it was my first Apple Watch and I didn't know whether I'd like having it or not and wanted to spend a more modest amount of money to find out. I'm a lifelong wristwatch wearer and I'm not quite sure I like converting over to a watch that runs on the same daily charge cycle (and few-year upgrade cycle) as my iPhone.

My previous watch is a 10 year-old Citizen Eco-Drive that keeps excellent time, is absurdly durable and charges itself from ambient light. Of course, it gives me zero information aside from the time and date, and I'm starting to really acclimate myself to having the high-quality, current data on movement, sleep and other health metrics my Apple Watch collects. That said, if Apple came out with a ring similar to the Oura, I'd be quite tempted to use that as my input sensor and go back to an analog wristwatch.

I agree...Just want a slightly smaller Ultra. I would gladly take a 30 hour battery life (vs. 36). Esthetically, it is just a smidge too big. The only people I've seen it look 'normal' on are people 6' 2' and above

The rumored plastic SE will further define the watch as an entry level product and further position it as a colorful, fun product for kids. As schools look to reduce cell phone use, the Apple Watch will provide great solution for parents wanting to keep contact with their children. If they can actually keep or lower the price, they could have a huge hit.

The Ultra is just that much cooler looking than any of the other Apple Watch models. If I were to buy an Apple Watch (I never felt like I needed one) the Ultra it would be, without a doubt, and I don't even need its extra features.

Apple needs to learn that we don't all want sleek and thin; some of us want tough and substantial. I've worn a Casio G-Shock for years because I like the rugged look. If I ever decide to get a smartwatch, the Ultra would be it.

When I look at the results, I see that the SE is more popular than the most recent Ultra. Same data, different angle, different conclusion.

Some people apparently do want the Ultra, but get the previous one. Because of cost I would think?

I would prefer the looks of a Garmin, and it probably offers some of the things I need when biking (calling 911 if I fall?) and at the gym (music streamed or stored on the watch), but I rely on my watch for Apple Pay, texts and phone calls using my primary number, access to my iOS reminders and calendar, and probably a few other things in the Apple ecosystem.

As someone with the Watch SE, I'd say it's a great device... but also, if you plan to keep a watch for a couple of years or more, it's probably worth it to get a more expensive model with more features. 🤷‍♂️

As much as I like my SE, I understand why it has a relatively small market share.
I think the SE is a great gateway AW for those who can still live without an AW. I got my wife an SE to introduce her to the concept of having an AW, now she wants an Ultra :)

Seems like a happy problem for Apple to have, where their more expensive offerings are more popular than their cheaper ones. But I guess that's to be expected when you have captured the premium segment of the market.
The product is really good. Durability- and battery-wise, my gen 1 has held up remarkably well.

Agree with all the Garmin comments. I love mine and I’m never going back after AW5 couldn’t make it through a day.

26 days of battery life and nearly all the health analytics I could want.

I'm probably going back to Garmin. I've had an Apple Watch since the 3, but I don't use any of the Apple features and the Ultra is just too big for my taste. All notifications are disabled, I don't use Apple Pay (on my watch) and don't take calls on it, so it doesn't offer anything over Garmin. I've even turned off AOD.

I've also absolutely beat my 6 to death. It's scratched to hell and back, mostly from rock climbing, so another regular sized Apple Watch is out of the question.

Exactly. IMHO, they're $100 off the sweet spot. I'd like to see SE start at $149 for GPS and $199 for GPS + Cellular.

Apple should never even attempt to compete with the bottom. They are a company that manufactures and sells premium products that have high quality and high customer satisfaction. Apple has become the world’s most valuable company by sticking to its emphasis on the top end. No different than any other manufacturer and seller of premium products, be it automobiles, electronic, tools, furniture, etc.
