I stopped reading at: Apple will look to announce the iPhone 6 on Monday.

Monday. Ha. Companies don't make big product announcement on Mondays, esp., if they want the national press in attendance.

That's way too expensive for a Phone. You can get a huge TV for the same price, including shipping. You can even get a Macbook for that price.

5.5 32GB model should be the same price as the iPhone 5S today, and 4.7 32GB should cost 100$ less. That's the way to approach the market. Otherwise I'll go Andoid and buy 2x galaxy S5 for the same price.

<-- loyal apple customer

Go ahead and buy 2 Galaxy s5 for the same price.

This story is utter BS, the flagship phone starts with 16GB whilst the next model down starts with 32GB????

Yeah Riiiggghhhhtttttt.....

And as for iPhone Air? They'll be more likely to call it the iPad Nano.

I think this story is bogus too, but why would the 5.5" (if it exists) be the flagship? I'll bet any money more people buy the 4.7" version.

----------

What I find weird about the "Air" moniker is that Apple use it for their top-end iPad and their bottom-end laptop. In marketing terms, I'd have thought that's a mistake - are you trying to make Air a premium, quality name or an affordable, value name?

Even if you say it's more about the thinness & lightness of the device not market positioning - the new phones are likely to be the biggest and perhaps heaviest iPhones, so why call them "Air"?

But there really isn't much of a difference between the Air and the mini. Not sure you can say the Air is top-end and the mini is bottom-end unless you're just talking price. As far as iPhone Air, yeah, I don't see that happening. If it does then we know Apple's marketing department has lost it.

Perhaps the 4.7 will be the flagship. I noticed in general teens have a stronger desire for bigger phones. For playing games and such. And of course they have less money.

Would have thought the 4.7" version would be the iPhone Air with the 5.5" version the iPhone Pro and the 4" version the iPhone Mini.

Personally I'd be happy if they simply did away with the "Air" "Pro" "Mini" names and went back to a simpler product line up of Mac, iMac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, iPod.

just remember that you're not going to buy it, as you clearly stated 11 months ago in your 8th post Aug 29, 2013, 12:25 PM

This, sir, was an excellent find.

I don't understand why people are freaking out. In one generation the "I like iPhones but the screens are too small" argument will be gone. Samsung have clearly reached the maximum screen size possible for a non-phablet smartphone. If the rumors are true, Apple have thought about a two-sizes-do-all approach to keep everyone happy.

Now, the race will go back to screen quality, battery life, processor speed, etc.

Is anyone else creeped out by this? Are you watching him through his bedroom window too? Yikes!

He probably just got sick of people claiming ridiculous things, so bookmarked it for future use.

I always thought of the "Air" line as "smaller and lighter" vs. "premium".

I had the same thought. That would be like calling the old 17" MBP a "MacBook Air".

Too early, Apple. Cannot yet justify another one.
My interest in new iPhones plateaued after the 4S, which is still my daily driver.

Get your head examined. The iPhone 4S is so old Jesus used it to talk to God.

Guys... guys... a little hush please. Google, Microsoft, you guys too. We need cool it on the new products I'm afraid. We've just learned that DrFu79 already has a phone.

RIP iPhone. I liked the back of the other iPhones, like the iPhone 4, with some sort of glass plate at the back. Now not only iOS is all flat and without the shininess everywhere, but the iPhone becomes all matte as well. That rear plate is terrible, it looks like a cheap plastic toy. This isn't an iPhone anymore, it's a Samsung with Android. Basically, everything that made the iPhone unique is gone. And then they tell you "Oh no it's the same, we just changed this and this but iPhone users will still feel at home [because there's still this, this, and that]" But "this, this, and that" are found on every phone, if you get my point. So the small changes they made are exactly what made an iPhone an iPhone.
And when you take a closer look at the people who praise it so much, it's either people with extremely low self esteem who love and do everything Apple says (the modern slave), or former Samsung/Android users. Well, yes, if I gave you a Banana cake and you didn't like Bananas, and therefore removed all the Bananas and suddenly loved the cake, you can't really say you love the Banana Cake. You love cake. So go buy cake in the first place, not Banana cake.
Apple needs both these types of customers, the low self-esteem geek is a strong support who is like a dog who follows you all the time and has nothing really better to do while the other people are customers "stolen" from other companies, with basically everything the other companies stood for. Weak, Apple… ;)
And the round corners are not nice either. I don't know anyone who prefers the look of the iPhone 3G(S) than the one of the iPhone 4-5S. But that is subjective.

Edit: Oh god, when I read comments like:
Get your head examined. The iPhone 4S is so old Jesus used it to talk to God.

The 4S is not a bad phone, and unless you have little hobbies in life it will suffice. That's exactly the problem of this whole thing, people are so materialistic and want to get all the latest things, instead of a good product on long term. And it's not intellectuals or free-spirited people who think this way, it's the working class. People from the working class, wether they have become wealthier already or not, always need to define themselves with materialistic things, because they have nothing else to give. Apple used to be for normal people, now it's for chavs. If the 4S is so old Jesus used it, I'm wondering how old you are … perhaps we should consider replacing you …

I still say 19th for first release. The last three years they always released it on the first day of the Singapore Formula 1 race thus making getting to the city center to buy it as painful as possible!

The first day of this year's race is .. 19th.

Apple are way behind the curve

Speaking impartially, even the LG G2 is better than the iPhone 6. KnockON, rear controls, large display - and then there is the G3. Not to mention, the Sony Xperia Z2, that is sexy, waterproof, has a built in FM Radio (useful when offline), a great screen, camera shutter release button, NFC etc. HTC One M8 and Galaxy S5 also come to mind.

Apple appear to have run out of ideas. They have launched a dumbed down slower iMac and done the same with the iPod Touch, which is Tim's way of dumping unsold stock of specific components. OK, wise, but where is the ground breaking? Where's the touch screen iMac or OS X tablet for artists or affordable compact (old style) Mac Mini for small businesses? Etc.

Be brave!

:D

Yeah well I've also written numerous times that I could be proven wrong if Apple ever did launch a much larger iPhone - and made it useable and not hideous looking. I remember when Jim Dalrymple slated all the smaller tablets when Apple didn't have one, and then Apple came long with the iPad Mini and changed everything. So I know opinions can change. I hope to god Apple never goes as big as a 6 inch phablet though (which is what my comment in that other thread was referring to).

Obviously this is all rumour and conjecture/speculation, with the same mock-ups being used over and over.... buttttttt...

Here's really hoping the new iPhone doesn't look anything like it does in the pic... Am I the only one that thinks the similarity to the iPod/5C makes it look cheap?

Hilarious! :D

Some of the replies here hilariously demonstrate what they say about people from certain parts of the world not getting sarcasm. Or maybe you really believe I was serious when I said Apple was essentially doomed if they ever launched a 6 inch smartphone, and that I'd immediately go from buying every product Apple puts on the market to literally buying nothing from them. :D

That's the downside of posting on internet forums, the evidence is always lurking ready to kick you up the backside at a later date. ;)

I wish people would stop creating threads speculating on a larger iPhone that will never be released. It's only going to lead to disappointment for some people later in the year. Apple will not release an iPhone that is larger than 5 inches because it's not a good experience for consumers. Apple is in the experiences business and they exist to delight.

the Note series is not 6" but is considered a phablet, are you moving goalposts?

Nope. I do think the 5+ inch iPhone will look hideously big in all honesty. I remember seeing the first Note in public years ago (I think that was smaller than 5.5 inches too) and thought OMG that looks ridiculous held to someones ear. So I'm not sure how Apple addresses this at all.

To be fair far wiser people in the Apple community than me have said the same. I'm still amazed they are going to do it, and I'm fascinated how they sell it to people. Apple employees themselves have made fun of larger screen devices in the past.

Yet Another blog finalist on the Lame iPhone Leak World Cup...

READ THIS PLEASE:

There Will not be such thing as a 5.5" iPhone, will be a 5.5" iPod Touch (or whatever is named but the 5.5" device not a Phone PERIOD).

Will NOT BE A 4.7" iPod Touch (this is my Lame Leak Contribution, derivative from my previous leak).

Of Course is very probable the new iPhone to have a new Moniker as " new iPhone" "iPhone air" (personally iDoubt it bill be named iPhone Air, but iPhone Pro, iPhone Plus may have more sense.
