Report: Facebook to Change Its Name Next Week to Better Reflect Company's 'Metaverse'

I vote for FakeBlock.

They could go back to the drawing board and reinvent themselves as a the single best woodblock modulation company out there.
 
Let’s all still just call it Facebook for luls and never forget to still just call it Facebook. In fact I will always call it and all of its products Facebook
 
The article sounded to me like they’re not renaming Facebook though… just the parent company. Like alphabet and google. It sounds like Facebook will still be Facebook and Instagram will still be Instagram but they’ll both be under ZuckCo or whatever… no?

Like the first poster said, lipstick on a pig. But, even a pig has uses. We didn't really need Facebook for anything. It was just a novelty on the internet that we are still not over.

More than anything else, it is social media that has created/ brought to fore more mental health issues in the masses.

When people are busy cashing millions in stock options, their priorities might not be what you and I would like them to be.

Nobody's gonna tell you that and their not telling does not belittle the issues they might be voicing out. But, I can say that I do not have a Facebook account. 😂

The baffled Honor might be inclined to transfer the case to the appropriate 'Honor' under whose jurisdiction the said metaverse might lie in.
 
He should do what Bill Gates and every other hated power hungry rich person has done throughout time. Retire and start a foundation. Then he can REALLY control the world and be respected while doing it!

It seeks out the very worst in humanity and then does every little thing it can to amplify it for profit.

I saw someone on another site saying that it’s just a reflection of our society, and in a sense that’s true. But Facebook isn’t just a neutral conduit through which information flows, it carefully shapes that information, choosing to show certain people certain things in order to keep their eyeballs on the screen.

So it’s not a reflection of our society, not really. It’s a funhouse mirror distortion of the very worst of our society, amplified and broadcast far and wide for pure profit and without regard for the damage done to Facebook’s own users or society as a whole.

They designed algorithms to keep people engaged, because engagement is money, and the best way to keep people engaged is to keep them in a perpetual state of frenzied outrage and terror.

When Facebook says they don’t want to be the arbiters of what’s true what they’re actually saying is something they’ve known for many years: the truth is boring. It doesn’t spike engagement the way BILL GATES MIND CONTROL DEVICES and HILLARY CLINTON SATANIST CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING CABAL UNCOVERED does.

Facebook is just as vile as the cigarette companies and energy companies playing down the health risks of their products, because $$$ > everything.

After the name change, maybe the Murdoch family can buy the company and fold it into their disinformation mega machine. The demographics are very similar and just like Fox, the ‘news’ division is only ‘news’ by name.

Neither are held to the same standards as actual news outlets and they share the same goal… create the boogie men that the misinformed fringe need to justify the dreck that is being fed to them. Creating and growing the very fringe demographic that they cater to.

It’s an evil but genius business model. The massive cult following is a good indication of their success, but also reveals just how many people will believe anything without question if they want it to be true.

Fair enough! I actually figured there would be a decent amount of people on here who didn’t have an account.
 
Still means that anyone with a sliver of sanity, knowledge, or common sense will know not to go anywhere near their (or any other social media company’s) version of the ‘metaverse’ even with a hazmat suited barge pole.
I’m pretty sure the name will ‘leak’ into the public consciousness, and despite the intended obfuscation; people will still know to avoid.
