It’s the next Silicon Valley VC bubble. It means something I think
Probably more like Sci-fi/techno-fantasy, when it comes from tech industry dudes...Oh no. Please do not escape into some technological hindu multiversism and mysticism. That is a dead end.
Yeah because they know that, eventually, society forgets. It doesn’t even need a generation to die off.Nice. Just renaming the same old crap. Companies love to do this.
I technically have one, I just haven’t logged into it in over two years. I don’t plan to, either. How many of you still have a Facebook account despite the negative comments?
Yeah, the way the public now worships Bill Gates is seriously gross. I’m not in line with the crazy conspiracy theorists either. There’s real abuse to talk about without making up crazy BS.He should do what Bill Gates and every other hated power hungry rich person has done throughout time. Retire and start a foundation. Then he can REALLY control the world and be respected while doing it!
“Event Horizon”, as much as it pissed me off, was a way better film than Facebook is a company. Better designed, too.How about “Event Horizon”. A terrible movie name reflecting a terrible company.
I wouldn’t call it genius. Opportunistic is the more accurate term. I don’t think opportunism requires genius; merely malicious self interest. After the name change, maybe the Murdoch family can buy the company and fold it into their disinformation mega machine. The demographics are very similar and just like Fox, the ‘news’ division is only ‘news’ by name.
Neither are held to the same standards as actual news outlets and they share the same goal… create the boogie men that the misinformed fringe need to justify the dreck that is being fed to them. Creating and growing the very fringe demographic that they cater to.
It’s an evil but genius business model. The massive cult following is a good indication of their success, but also reveals just how many people will believe anything without question if they want it to be true.
No. The renaming crap actually works. It doesn’t take long for a populous to lose track of the old entity behind a new name.Still means that anyone with a sliver of sanity, knowledge, or common sense will know not to go anywhere near their (or any other social media company’s) version of the ‘metaverse’ even with a hazmat suited barge pole.
I’m pretty sure the name will ‘leak’ into the public consciousness, and despite the intended obfuscation; people will still know to avoid.
How?Facebook is still tracking you and using your data if you haven’t deleted your profile completely.
How could they possibly do that? There should be a law against all this. This is the reason I deleted my account but I know behind the scenes they are still collecting my data from every site I go to.
I still haven’t looked it up, but was everyone calling it “Evil Corp” part of the unreliable narrator effect? How about ‘E Corp’? Oh wait that already exists…
(Mr. Robot)
How could they possibly do that?

Facebook confirms it can track you even if you delete your account
Facebook has shed more light on how it tracks people around the web, and confirmed once and for all that it monitors people who don’t even use the site.www.trustedreviews.com
Not really. It's the site or app you are using that's reporting back to Facebook.“When you visit a site or app that uses our services [such as a Like or Share button, Facebook ads tools or Facebook Login]...”
Doesn’t my ad-blocker and social widgets blocker stop that?
If those settings were available last time I was logged in over two years ago, I turned that stuff off, for whatever good that does. Don’t I have to be logged in for their site platform crap to track me? I mean, if it doesn’t matter, then there’s nothing we can do but avoid sites with Facebook API crap. Not really. It's the site or app you are using that's reporting back to Facebook.

How to Stop Facebook and Instagram From Spying on Your Internet Activity
A tool called “Your activity off Meta technologies” helps you manage how Facebook and Instagram look at your online activities.www.pcmag.com
Nope, they can find you by IP addresses, browser and operating system information, the address of the website or app you’re using, cookies and device identifiers. Many of us tried to warn people years ago about all of the privacy we're giving up on the internet. The fact is, you're being tracked almost everywhere you go. Your internet provider knows where you've been - even if you use a VPN. And they're probably selling that information. The privacy train left the station 20 years ago with the full, enthusiastic support of the vast majority of the populace. And it's not the government we need to be worried about - at least not in the western democracies. It's private industry. If those settings were available last time I was logged in over two years ago, I turned that stuff off, for whatever good that does. Don’t I have to be logged in for their site platform crap to track me? I mean, if it doesn’t matter, then there’s nothing we can do but avoid sites with Facebook API crap.
How?
Facebook is now HYDRA!SPECTRE‘s already taken, yes?![]()
Wow. And I thought I has a cynical outlook.Billions of zombies that don’t know how to talk to people on the phone or in person. Billions of brainwashed people that hide themselves behind a keyboard. There is life out there. Go see it.
Doesn’t change the factsBillions of people, ignorant to what they have done. They auctioned off their lives for -- nothing. Not even a handful of beans...
